This is a great spot to stay with a group of friends or family. The apartment is lovely and the hosts were great. They answered questions quickly and sent plenty of information before the trip about the area. It was a great visit to Chicago and I will stay here again.
We were here for a wedding at Cheney Mansion. The house was perfect for the four of us. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. The beds and furniture were comfy. We'd stay here again.
We stayed one night while in town for a wedding. It had everything we needed. With three bedrooms (one with two twin beds), it was much less expensive than three hotel rooms in the area. I’d stay again in a heartbeat.
This property is beautiful. The home is classic and has lots of great details. The styling is wonderful. In addition, it was comfortable. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the neighborhood and this great apartment.
Very clean and convenient with excellent response from owners and property management. We have now stayed with homeinoakpark properties twice due to convenience of neighborhood to proximity of family there. Kettil is an excellent host and accommodating to all needs. Will stay again, definitely!
A few houses away from where Hemingway grew up, a beautiful walk to the park, restaurants and cafes, close to friends in burbs and downtown Chicago. Sweetest couple owns this and we’re helpful and prompt with any needs we had. My hubby slept better than he had in years. Such a great place to stay. So thankful we found this gem. Our kids had a blast here as well.
We enjoyed our time at this home! We had everything we needed for the few days we were in town. We used to live in Oak Park so we were happy to stay in town with more space than a hotel could offer. Walked to downtown Oak Park each morning for our morning coffee and pastries. Kitchen is well-equipped. Garage parking is convenient just two doors away. Queen bed was comfy though the teens found the twin mattresses to be uncomfortable, but that is also personal preference.Overall, we enjoyed it very much and would recommend to family/friends traveling to the area.
My husband and a group of friends enjoyed our stay here. It's close to Ernest Hemingways home and Frank Lloyd Wright homes are all through the neighborhood. The home is lovely and kitchen was great for cooking dinner. I really enjoyed the small walk out balcony from our bedroom and bedroom with the office area and crib was great for the baby. We did find the garage a little challenging to get in and out of. It was a very tight squeeze for any car except compact. We were grateful for a garage though since parking in Chicago is crazy. It had all the comforts of home away from home.
Overall, the stay was pretty good at this VRBO. The location in Oak park was amazing, and having the parking behind the house. However, the listing states that there is a two car garage available, but one parking space is for the top condo, and one for the bottom. There is additional parking a few houses over (also off the street). I want to also add that it's an old building and since we were staying on the ground level, we heard a lot of noise from the condo above us with kids running around one of the nights. I let the host know after the first night, and he was extremely helpful and was willing to talk to the upstairs neighbors if the issue persisted.
We had a terrific stay at this property. The hosts are incredibly hospitable and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything needed. Beautiful neighborhood and home which allowed for a memorable stay in Oak Park.
We enjoyed a lovely long weekend in Oak Park. The house felt very much like a home. Beautiful space on a lovely street. My son enjoyed playing the Baby Grand Piano, which the owners thoughtfully tuned in advance of our arrival. We have been to two of the owners' apartments on this street - both were lovely!
We are grateful to Kettil for being such a great host. The home was perfect for our family of four. The location in Oak Park is perfect for local walks, and also to travel to downtown Chicago. The home was very clean and comfortable for us. We had a wonderful visit.
Liked: Property conditions & facilities, communication
Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
For the high price, we expected better bedding and towels. FYI the floors were dirty and sticky throughout the unit. Also for the cost, you would expect a box of tissues. For the space, one bath meant someone was typically waiting, especially getting ready in the am. Due to having a large car, we had to park two doors down. Very noisy upstairs neighbors made this an unpleasant stay.
Came to town for a family funeral, glad to have a landing spot in a central location. Entire family was blown away by the comfort and ease of this space. Central living/dining room was perfect for flowing family gathering as multiple guests dropped in. Extra amenities for visiting babies (high chair, crib) were appreciated. Landlord was super responsive and kind in a difficult time. Only two suggestions for improvement: 1) the coffee making set up included a Kuerig and a french press. We prefer the french press and would have liked a kettle (electric or stovetop) to help with that prep. Of course a pot on the stove works fine, but all the other amentities were so thoughtful, it seemed surprising not to have a kettle. 2) It's an old house, so it's clear that you don't have every option for outlets. And the bedside tables were well-equipped with charging stations. But we needed a regular electric plug for a CPAP, which required moving furniture to get to the outlet. An extension cord to one bedside table would be awesome.
