This was a great property. The house and grounds were very clean and nice. We loved the fire pit on the creek bank, the screen porch with fireplace and the hot tub. The property was very well taken care of and it had everything we needed.
One of the best properties we’ve stayed at for over 20 years of visiting North Carolina! Home is beautiful, all the amenities you need are there. Be prepared this property is in a very remote location. Very private and peaceful. Highly recommend this location you won’t be disappointed!
We spent the day exploring the area and the evenings enjoying the serenity of Watia Creekside. The screened in porch overlooking the creek was heavenly. We spent most of our time on the porch and enjoying good conversation, a rarity in this day and time. We look forward to our next stay at Watia. Thank you for a great time and wonderful memories in your beautiful home.
We came to the area to do the Polar Express and see a different part of the state. This was about one of the nicest cabins we have ever stayed. It was extremely clean and beautifully decorated. Very will stocked. Extremely comfortable beds. Highly recommend. Thinking of coming back when the lake is at summer pool.
The property was beautiful and very clean. Our favorite part was sitting on the porch in front of the fireplace. The only thing we would change would be the garbage disposal routine. It would be nice not to have to take the trash to the dump ourselves. No complaints otherwise!
This house is really lovely for 4 adults and perhaps a child or 2. I do not recommend adults sleep in the upstairs portion. It is very well stocked, beautifylly kept, clean, tastefully decorated and really has everything you need for a fantastic time in the NC mountains. We would definately stay again when we are back in the area. The management company is super nice and very responsive.
If you want to relax and get away from it all in a luxurious and comfortable mountain retreat, we highly recommend Watia Creekside. It was definitely hard to leave this lovely home - well equipped kitchen, comfy master suite, hot tub, stream, fire pit, indoor and outdoor fireplaces - it had everything we needed for a tranquil mountain getaway. The home is super nice, but not "fussy", and it was very pet friendly - our dog Sadie had a blast. Easy access to so many great spots to hike. Exactly what we were hoping for!
My husband and I stay in Bryson City a week every year. We love NC Mountain Realty. The communication is outstanding and the response time is usually daily. Anytime we have had any issues, they were fixed the same day or the expectations were spelled out. Watia Creekside was a great location. Roads were easy to navigate and a perfect central location to multiple things to do. Great Smokey Mountain Railroad, locate shopping, and waterfalls. The creek was wonderful while sleeping at night. We will definitely be staying at Watia Creekside in the future. Thank you for a great experience.
Watia Creekside did not disappoint and was everything we were looking for in a relaxing property to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The creek was the most therapeutic experience and made for a relaxing vibe the entire week. Also enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch and caught an afternoon thunderstorm! The property access to the NOC, waterfalls, hiking, and beautiful lake Fontana was convenient and private. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake and had easy access to dropping kayaks via the private dock in the community. The cabin itself was luxurious, yet cozy and had all we needed to cook daily. The master bed was like sleeping on a fluffy cloud. We opened the bedroom window and listened to the creek babble all night! Highly recommend staying here and we would return in a heartbeat!
We have been coming to this area for over 10yrs and this is probably the best house we’ve stayed at. The home is gorgeous, very clean and very well stocked. There are directions for everything in the home, the beds and pillows were super comfortable! The hot tub was a huge hit and the fire pit creek side was very relaxing. I will say it’s best to try to arrive during the daylight as the mountain road up has quite a few sharp curves and it’s dark. Ingles is close by for groceries and we enjoyed a few hours at the restaurants on property at NOC. The only thing I wish was better was the area for parking - we had two large SUV’s and it was a tight fit in the driveway. Other than that we had a very relaxing fantastic fall vacation!
It was a little nerve wracking getting to the property especially the 1st time with all the switchbacks! The home was gorgeous! If you are TV people it won’t be your favorite as there is a tv in the family room and the loft but none in the bedrooms or the outside porch
We lost internet our second day for the week ( it came back the night before we checked out) so with no WiFi and no cell service we had to drive to the top of the mountain to check in with civilization! It was not the fault of anyone, the line had been cut somewhere up the mountain
But if you are looking to unplug for a while it is a wonderful place to do so! Being creek side by the fire pit was so great! Just listening to the water from the screened in porch was so relaxing! The beds were so comfortable!!!!!! All in all a beautiful place and I would highly recommend!!!
We prefer higher-end, well appointed vacation properties. Whether we're staying in the Smokies or the Rockies, we love long distance views. However, this time we decided to stay lower because Watia Creekside seemed SOOO appealing. And it did not disappoint. The creek makes this property shine, and the screened in porch with its own fireplace, the firepit built along the creek, the super comfy family room and huge kitchen, and hot tub with a view of the stars all helped make this our favorite rental in a long time (and we've been to some GOOD ones!) The property manager had great communication, too. Finally, the private road leads up over the mountain and down to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, which supercharged our vacation. We whitewater rafted with an amazing guide, zip lined, and rode horseback all within 15 minutes of the property. In the end, I cannot stop thinking about the screened in porch as I sat and enjoyed the creek sounds and night breezes with the fireplace on, every night this week. We WILL be back.
Our family had a wonderful experience in this beautiful home. It is pet friendly, in a gated community, and sits on a beautiful creek that can be enjoyed while toasting marshmallows and enjoying the quiet sounds of nature. This home has a fully stocked kitchen with very comfortable linens in both bedeooms. My 2 favorite spots were the outdoor patio with gas fireplace and the fire pit by the creek. (My boys would say their favorite spot was the hot tub) You must drive to access the boat slip. Also the water levels from Sept-June are significantly lower than during the summer months (almost 100 feet lower) Check current water levels if you plan to rent a boat. NOC is a short drive and you can access these grounds through a gate about 1.5 miles away from the house. If you prefer to eat some meals out, Bryson city has a few casual restaurants. We ate most of our meals in. The house has a gas grill as well. We would most definitely give this home 5 stars. We will go back. Thanks for sharing your home with us!!
More than a "cabin" could be a nicely appointed home.
The property itself was top notch. No complaints.
I had imagined the creek being larger, but that's not anyone's fault. It still provided plenty of babbling brook sound that makes naps on the porch so nice. The list of what was right is very long, the only thing that was not fully operational was the hot tub. Only 2 of the 4 seats had operational jets and the force from the jets was a bit weak, but there were only 2 of us so it was ok.
It's remote with a capital R. It's about 10 minutes from the site to the main road, then another 10 to 15 minutes either way to restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Our verizon cell phones signal meter didn't have any bars. Instead it said SOS. Never saw that before. However, the wifi worked great, the TV had a good selection of channels, and staying in touch via text and email made things comfortable.
If you want to get away from it all with quality and comfort, this place delivers.
Overall, the house is great and the location is amazing. Being next to the creek and hearing that rushing water all the time was a great perk when just hanging out in a secluded space. The fire pit and ample wood was also great. Being on the back side of the mountain from Nantahala Outdoor Center was also very cool and a great place to get some beers and just hang out with adventure seekers.
The only thing lacking with the house is the limited sleeping arrangements. We were four grown men and had interpreted the listing to say there were sufficient sleeping arrangements for us. However, there are only two bedrooms with queen beds. Beyond the beds, there was no pull out sofa, only two VERY rickety folding metal cots and two very slim mattresses that could be placed on each. When I say slim, we're talking about 3 inches in thickness. Needless to say, perhaps these could work for a 50 pound child, but it left our 40+ year old adult bodies nearly broken each morning. These were pretty horrible sleeping conditions and I would immediately remove them from the house and reduce the occupancy allowance for the house.
Thankfully, we were able numb the pain with morning soaks in the hot tub and some whisky.
The cabin was well done, great location and relaxing. The home provided everything we needed for our stay. We will certainly rent this home again if our travels bring us back to this area.

Great layout and amenities. Enjoyed being around the fire places, both inside and out, as much as going out and exploring the Bryson City area. Would definitely do a repeat visit.
My husband and I are fairly frequent travelers. This place was without question- a top 5 stay for us. One of the most peaceful, tranquil, beautiful places we’ve escaped too. We will definitely be back.
