This place feels home every time I visit here and staff and service simply outstanding right from Manager : Mayank, Front Desk : Niharika, Saleem and Monika , The check in staff : Saravanan, The whole crew at Restuarant : Bhaskaran, Shahi, Rishabh. Our experience here has always been fantastic . Highly recommend this place if you are staying in Chennai .

I enjoyed my stay once again. What a fantastic crew of staff! My special mentions would be Lokanath and Yuvaraj from the Verndah! I was served flawlessly by them both each time I ate the restaurant. I don’t think I will look beyond Connemara for my stay in Madras. There may be better places in convenience and ambience but the staff here make all the difference.

During my stay there was a power outage in the morning when I was in business call. When I checked with front office they replied weirdly saying it’s Normal power fluctuation. I didn’t expect this from a 5 star reputed hotel. Please maintain the standard & reputation and treat each customer as VVIP.

While the Taj Connemara exudes grace charm as a uniquely traditional and up-market colonial-style hotel in Egmore, Madras (Chennai), we were particularly impressed by the consistently high level of customer service by all staff we encountered. Among them, all the breakfast team - including the Supervisor (whose name slips us), Shaji and all others who served us over 3 mornings. We would also like to mention Puja and Monika who greeted us on arrival, and all in the Concierge team (whose names we are remiss in not taking down).

Lovely Hotel, early checkin issues

A great place to stay in Chennai, couple of good points and one downer. Overall it felt slightly a business hotel but with alot of colonial heritage. It had a nice (though hot pool) to relax at, more importantly it had an amazing restaurant called Rivertree tucked away that has delicious tasting menus and not too pricey. Go there. The downer wa a the check in. Knowing we’d land at 05:30 we advised them of this and booked an early checkin (by 10:00), we arrived at 06:30 and did checkin formalities and they kindly let us take breakfast and hang around. Sadly at 10 no room was ready and they tried to deny confirmation of early checkin. After frantic activity a room was found (slightly better than booked) by 11:00. When you tired from a flight you don’t need this, and if we’d been advised it wasn’t going to happen we wouldn’t have hung around and would have gone out to the beach and waited. On top of this they still charged us full whack for the early check. A bit of a sour note on what could have been a lovely stay with v friendly staff.

Lacks attention to detail

Nice hotel but lacking attention to detail for the prices they charge. When we checked in the first room offered to us smelt damp so we asked to change, the second room was located next to a service entrance with dirty washing visible and the view from the balcony of the room was directly into the air con unit. The room we were eventually offered was very nice but the issues experienced were disappointing. Afternoon tea was also included in our package, despite being asked to book a time at check-in the person in the bar serving the afternoon tea seemed surprised to see us. We had to wait half an hour during which we sat in the bar which lights flickering, which the way we’re trying to fix. We did eventually enjoy our two night stay, the staff were all very nice and couldn’t have been more helpful. However we had higher expectations for a Taj hotel.

1. A/C could have been better 2. The Verandah staff seemed racially biased towards foreigners than Indian guests, which didn’t look good. I was ignored, no napkins at the tables, no one checked in if I wanted to get any omelette or dosa, both at dinner and breakfast buffet. 3. Raintree staff and poolside staff were great. I stayed at Leela palace just before here and I can see why it’s better to stay there than here.
