The Blue Veil Manor - World Famous Haunted House

Welcome to our one-of-a-kind Victorian estate where history, mystery, and modern luxury collide. Once the town’s funeral home, this sprawling mansion has been reimagined into a dramatic 38-room retreat that promises an experience you’ll never forget. This is not just a stay — it’s an experience of history and imagination, where past and present merge to create something unforgettable.

Welcome to Dresden’s Haunted Victorian Mansion, a property unlike anything else in Ontario. Named in honor of the house’s most enduring legend, the Lady in Blue. For generations, guests and locals have spoken of a blue figure appearing on the stairs and in shadowed halls. The “veil” reflects both her flowing gown and the idea of a boundary between this world and the next. The name captures the mansion’s beauty, mystery, and the unforgettable stories that seem to live within its walls.

Built in the late 1800s, it was once the grandest private residence in the county, later serving as the town’s funeral home for decades before being reimagined into the lavish yet eerie estate it is today. Every corner of this sprawling mansion carries layers of history — from opulent beginnings, to years of solemn vigils, to a bold new chapter as a one-of-a-kind destination where guests can immerse themselves in both beauty and mystery.

The moment you cross the threshold, you’ll feel the weight of the past. The soaring entrance, carved woodwork, and towering ceilings set the tone: this is no ordinary stay. The former chapel — once the site of countless farewells — is now the heart of the home, reborn as a 1,000 sq ft kitchen and dining hall. Here, guests gather for grand meals under cathedral-like ceilings, their laughter echoing where hymns once did.

From this central space, the mansion unfolds like a labyrinth of stories. Two parlours and three lounges invite you to linger — some lit warmly for intimate conversation, others dressed in shadow and drama, perfect for spinning ghost stories long into the night. A library filled with books and artifacts invites curiosity, while an office and games room offer modern diversions in a setting still marked by Victorian charm.

Climb the sweeping staircases and you’ll find the mansion’s nine bedrooms and six bathrooms, each unique in design. Some are sumptuous suites with private lounges and dressing rooms; others are tucked beneath gothic eaves or framed by tall, arched windows. Every room is a world of its own, yet all carry the same atmospheric blend of comfort and intrigue.

But it is the lower level where the mansion’s past speaks loudest. The embalming room has been transformed into a moody cigar lounge, its cool stone and shadowed corners steeped in suggestion. Hidden doors lead to a clandestine speakeasy, while a dedicated séance room waits for those who dare to reach across the veil. Even the old casket lift has been reinvented as a bar — a chilling yet playful reminder of the house’s former life. Alongside these dark treasures, modern luxuries surprise you: a private gym and a theatre room add a touch of indulgence to the basement’s eerie charm.

Step outside and the mansion reveals a softer side. The grounds are lush and inviting, anchored by an English countryside–style pool and outdoor dining area that invite you to unwind. By day, the gardens and terraces are a peaceful retreat; by night, the mansion’s silhouette looms against the sky, its many windows glowing with mystery. From the widow’s walk rooftop, you can take in sweeping views of Dresden, raise a toast to the sunset, or search the night sky for signs of the unknown.

And then there are the stories — because this house is more than walls and windows. Guests and visitors have whispered of disembodied voices calling “hello” in empty rooms, shadows that slip across staircases, music drifting from nowhere, and the chilling legend of the lady in blue, said to appear in fleeting glances on the upper floors. For those who come seeking connection with the other side, the house provides: several rooms are arranged with tools for ghost hunting and communication, waiting for the brave to try their hand.

Still, this is not a cold or forbidding place. The mansion is alive with warmth and personality, its gothic design balanced with luxury and comfort. Families gather here for unforgettable weekends, groups of friends explore its hidden corners, and couples find romance in the candlelight glow of rooms rich with history. Whether you come to chase spirits or to simply marvel at the architecture, the mansion wraps you in an atmosphere you’ll carry with you long after your stay.

The Haunted Mansion of Dresden is more than accommodation. It is an experience — immersive, mysterious, and deeply human. A place where past and present collide, where legends are felt in the very air, and where your story becomes part of the mansion’s own. Dare to stay, and discover why this house is remembered long after you leave.

The entire mansion is yours to explore. Every hallway, parlour, and lounge has been designed for discovery, with shelves of artifacts, books, and curiosities collected from travels near and far, alongside treasures found right here in Ontario. From gothic décor to rare design pieces, the house itself feels like a living museum, inviting you to wander and uncover its secrets.

All nine bedrooms, six bathrooms, the grand kitchen and dining hall, parlours, lounges, library, gym, games room, speakeasy, séance room, and even the cigar lounge are open to you. Whether you want to curl up with a book, host a dinner under soaring ceilings, relax by the pool, or test your courage in the mansion’s darker corners, every space is yours to enjoy.

The only exception is one room currently being renovated into a private apartment above the garage. It is fully sealed off from the rest of the house, with no access from inside the mansion, ensuring your stay remains entirely private and uninterrupted.

This home is professionally managed by Out of Office Collective. Our team is committed to making your stay seamless, memorable, and stress-free. From the moment you book until the moment you leave, we’re available to answer questions, offer recommendations, and ensure everything in the mansion is perfect for your visit.

We pride ourselves on attention to detail, clear communication, and genuine hospitality. Whether it’s sharing local insights, helping you navigate the mansion’s many unique spaces, or responding quickly to any needs during your stay, our goal is simple: that you feel cared for, comfortable, and inspired throughout your time here.

Our brand was built on values of connection, creativity, and community. We love what we do, and we want every guest to experience not just a place to stay, but the feeling of being truly looked after. This mansion carries an incredible story, and it’s our privilege to help you write your own chapter in it.

This is a grand historic home, filled with staircases, long hallways, and naturally shadowed areas that add to its character. Because of this, it may not be the most comfortable choice for very young children or guests who have difficulty with stairs.

To make the space more accessible, the mansion is equipped with an elevator that connects the main floor — including the kitchen, library, family room, and parlour — with the basement-level bedrooms. This allows many of the key living areas to be enjoyed without needing to navigate multiple flights of stairs.

This home isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a backdrop for unforgettable experiences. Over the years, its grand halls and atmospheric rooms have hosted everything from weddings and wellness retreats to murder mystery dinners and large private events. The mansion’s scale and character also make it an ideal setting for filming and creative projects.
