About this property
Honey House—beautiful modern loft near with UVA, Monticello and downtown
Best of both world! Modern design and loft style 800 sq ft guesthouse near UVA, Monticello and downtown. Lots of light and privacy in a quiet neighborhood. Located on the southwest side of Charlottesville, just 7 minutes to Scott Stadium/UVA/restaurants, about 10 minutes to the downtown mall and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Central to many major wineries and breweries. You are in nature but close to downtown and restaurants. With a comfortable queen size bed, and sleeping cot available if necessary. It is clean and comfortable, a spacious alternative to hotels. Whether you are here for work or attending events; for sightseeing or simply a weekend gateway, it’s a great place to unwind for a good night’s sleep and sweet dreams. (special rates applied for weekly/monthly stay).
There are 2 guest houses on the property, Honey House and Honey B. They are separate but nearby, designed with maximum privacy in mind: different parking locations and separate building entrances. Ideal for 2 couples vacationing together.

This renovated Scandinavian-inspired interior has all the modern amenities: shower and bathroom (bath essentials, hair dryer, iron), a fully functional kitchen (refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher, coffee, tea). A large sofa, Smart TV, Satellite TV, Showtime, and a dining area, a reading corner, mini-split for air/heat, 2 Ceiling fans and 5 sky lights. A sunny deck on the front and a sliding door leading to a shady deck off the back. The house is under a row of tall cedar trees and about 200 ft in the garden area behind main house on a land of 4 acres. If you like to keep your exercise routine such as yoga or walking while traveling this is a good place for you.
Our Neighborhood—The Honey House is located in a quiet residential neighborhood called Sherwood Farms on the Southwest corner of Charlottesville, just beyond the UVA campus. The oldest buildings in the neighborhood were built in the late 1950s. Our street, Overlook Drive is a mile-long loop with about 30 homes, each having 2-4 acres. The unique location offers best of both worlds: in beautiful nature yet close to town, UVA and everything Charlottesville, Central to many major wineries and breweries. It has easy access to I-64, Route 29 and 250, but is tucking into the woods, out of sight and earshot of all roadways; and you can generally come and go without traffic delays.
Interaction with guests: We're friendly and unobtrusive and almost always around. Let us know if you need anything. You may see us sometimes in the vegetable garden or the small apiary with bees all the way back. You may also encounter a few bunnies and birds as well as butterflies. You are welcome to herbs from the garden for cooking.
Guest Access: Entire guesthouse, the yard and all surrounding vegetable and flower gardens.

We had a lovely stay! The Honey House was a welcoming place with a cozy and clean atmosphere. It was just a few minutes away from UVA and downtown. Rob and Lili were very accommodating and gracious hosts. We would recommend staying here 100%
My husband and I love staying at this peaceful, clean, comfortable property! There is absolutely nothing we would change. The location, communication with host and accommodations are all as advertised and wonderful! This was our second time staying here, and we hope to be back again in the future!
The house was nicely laid out and had decks on the front and back. There were many trees on the property so there was lots of privacy. The furniture and bed were comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom well stocked. The house was conveniently located near Charlottesville and the wineries. We had a very pleasant stay there.
We spent a week in this marvelous and comfortable home. It is quiet, private and full of thoughtful touches.
The hosts were very friendly and extremely quick to respond to questions.
Highly recommend this peaceful getaway!
We stayed three nights in Honey House while in town celebrating our oldest son's college graduation. Location was perfect - very close to UVA and also quiet and peaceful, situated within a beautiful garden area. The studio is beautiful, very clean and thoughtfully appointed. Hosts are kind and accessible while also respectful of privacy. Already thinking about when we can come back.
We came to Charlottesville to visit some historical sites and chose to stay at Honey House. We made the right decision. We found the house to be clean, well equipped, easy check in and out, great communication with the owners and in a good location. The live plants inside the house helped to make it homey.
Highly recommend 5 Star
Our daughter was getting married in Charlottesville and she lives in OH and we were arriving from NC. The rest of the family and guests were all traveling so Honey House was our perfect retreat to plan, stage wedding items and share a meal with our new family members. Honey House is located about 10 minutes from great restaurants and stores. The house itself lives very comfortably and we rested very well and prepared meals in the well equipped kitchen. The front and rear porches are a wonderful place to sit back and relax while enjoying the beautiful location and wildlife. Super place if you’re a couple visiting Charlottesville!
What a pleasure to stay at the Honey House (so named I presume because the owners are beekeepers who have an aviary a safe distance nearby.) Everything was extremely well organized inside and neat as a pin. An open floor. plan that feels very open and roomy as well as bright and cheery. Quiet and comfortable, and all in a location very convenient to Monticello, downtown and UVa.
We loved this house! We want to stay once a year! Beautifully renovated. Can tell that so much thought was put into each design decision. Owner was welcoming and responsive. We can't wait to come back.
Great location as we were touring UVA. Quick access to I64 & into Cville. Lovely modern house, clean, lots of amenities, lots of windows, storage & space! Please check this place out! Super nice alternative if you want a change of pace from a hotel.
The Honey House is the perfect rental for a couple exploring Charlottesville for a long weekend. The listing information is accurate. The rental was clean and had all needed necessities. It was an easy and quick drive to restaurants. We would definitely stay at the Honey House on a return trip to Charlottesville.
We were meeting my Sister's family in the area and wanted a convenient place to Shenandoah NP. Rob and Lili's place was perfect! It was honestly the nicest VRBO we've stayed in. We got to meet both of them and was lucky enough to be there right after honey harvest. Will definitely return if in the area.
The Honey House was a perfect retreat for our recent trip to Charlottesville to visit our daughter. The property was exactly as pictured and described on the VRBO website. We enjoyed the secluded location that was still a short driving distance from anywhere we wanted to go. The accommodations were super clean and comfortable. The hosts were quick to respond to any questions and provided lots of information. We would definitely stay here in the future!
The unit is exceeding well done, well appointed, offers everything one needs to feel at home. It's beautiful. Getting to it felt a little sketchy. You enter the yard/drive by going past a run-down property with weeds and clutter, wondering where you are, as it takes a minute to see the unit down below. We initially thought we'd been duped, but soon learned it was tucked away and nothing like it first appears. The metal bed, small and noisy with every move, is the only thing that could use attention.
We traveled to Cville to visit with our son and chose Honey House because of its location and woodsy setting. We were not disappointed. The little house was perfect for us in that it was clean and freshly decorated in a contemporary style which was in contrast to the rustic setting of the woods and gardens around it. It is surprisingly spacious and we had plenty of room for my son and a friend to come visit us. We spent hours on the back deck which is not visable from the other cabin next door or the house. We hardly knew there were other renters. The only thing missing is a hot tub (hint, hint). There is a train fairly close by that does blow its horn during the day but it didnt bother us.
The owners live on the property and were very accessible for any small need we had. We appreciated that they compost and recycle and they make it easy to do so. They even brought us a New York Times on Sunday and offered for us to have a late check out if we wanted.
The location made it very easy to get to most places in the area. We walked the Monticello Trail (fyi you can't see house from the end of the trail, only the visitors center), ate at restaurants near UVA, hiked Humpback Rocks (30 min drive), and went to Pippin Hill Farm and Winery twice (beautiful!)
We highly recommend this lovely get away.
My only reluctance in posting this review is that I don’t want anyone else to know about this place so it’s always available in the future when we want to book it again. Hats off to Rob and Lili.
We have stayed at a lot of VRBO properties but Honey House is very special. It was so clean, so lovely, and had everything you could need. The kitchen was perfect and had anything you could want in a kitchen. The living area and bathroom are beautiful. And when you look out all the windows and skylights, you are looking at such a pretty backyard. It is so peaceful. We give it our highest rating! We will definitely be back. Thank you Lili and Rob for making such a wonderful and pleasant cottage to vacation in.
This is a wonderful property. The owners were very responsive to my questions and need to need to change dates after I had already booked the house. The house itself is awesome - everything inside is super clean and looks brand new. The size is cozy and perfect. The owners couldn't be nicer - we met them in the yard one morning. I highly recommend this house!
Wonderful, clean property with all the amenities you can think of to make you feel at home. Super nice hosts who quickly respond to any question you might have. Great location.
