"We arrived at the hotel about 6 pm. The doors were locked and we had to call the hotel to learn that we should have received a communication from someone about the codes needed to enter the premises and room. When I reserved the room, I was never given any indication that this would be a "self-serve" check in process with no human intervention. The room was comfortable, clean and lovely. But we were disappointed in the television. No network or local stations, just the low-cost streaming options. Next time we will spend the extra $20 to stay at a name brand hotel like we usually do so that we can enjoy the level of service that we are accustomed to. "

"The breakfast menu was fresh and staff all around to help with whatever you needed. Same with the rooms, we were there for an extended weekend, and everything was at our fingertips, if we needed something more, we just had to ask. Didn't need to leave the property for a good time, but just had to explore downtown Galena."

"Place definitely needs to be updated. Very small room, even smaller bathroom, with a pedestal sink, so no where to put your toiletries . It's right off the road, so traffic sounds making it hard to sleep. Definitely will pay more money next time for a nicer place. Will not go back"

"For our family of four, it was a good amount of space. I loved all personal touches and eclectic decor. The location was close to town, but you do have to cross highway 20 to get to town and the traffic is crazy. The beds were comfortable. I enjoyed the maple room. My daughter stayed in the other room and said it was cold. We propped open the door all day before the next night and that helped. I liked all the coffee and tea options but couldn't find coffee cups. The other thing, there is a lot of noise from the highway and train tracks. We did find it a bit disturbing through the night. Overall we enjoyed our stay though and we all liked the uniqueness of the property. "

"This was such a unique and memorable place to stay. The mansion really makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, with so much character throughout. One of the many positives with this house is that most that most of the rooms had their own attached bathrooms—it made getting ready so much easier for a large group of girls.Check-in and check-out were both extremely simple, and the host was very responsive and easy to communicate with, which made the whole experience even smoother.The location was perfect—less than a 5-minute walk to downtown, just a quick and scenic walk across the bridge.We had a great stay and would absolutely come back again!"
