"A delightful historical villa, which has held its old charm with the decor and furnishings. A very homely feel with a goid continental style breakfast. Coffee machine provided both caffeine teddy and decaffeinated coffee. There was a very good selection of teas. In the heart of the small town; parking was on street and felt safe, even for the motorcycles."

"Our stay at Casa do Rio was exceptional. There are 10 rooms with stunning views of the Douro River and vineyards. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, and we were welcomed with a plate of fresh figs and white port and all ingredients to make portonics. The grounds are lovely with an infinity pool overlooking the river and two semi private fresh water dunking pools. The food and was outstanding! We made our dinner selections earlier in the day and were treated to an exquisite 3 course meal complete with dessert and wine service. We were served a breakfast buffet every morning with fresh fruit and juices, cured meats and cheeses, an abundant offering of homemade breads, pastries and cake of the day. There were also eggs and meats prepared to order. The staff and service completed our stay. They were genuinely warm and gracious. From Felipe, the manager who greeted us upon our arrival, to the Daniel and Carlos, our food servers for dinner, to all of the other staff who contributed to our amazing experience. Wow!!"

"Nice hotel, large rooms. We had 2 rooms. One had 3 beds in the main area and 2 in a bedroom. I didn’t feel like the AC worked great in that room, but it got cool at night so we just opened the balcony doors. The other room had 1 bed in the main area and 2 or 3 in the bedroom. All the beds are twins. Both rooms had kitchenettes. Breakfast was great!"

"This is hands down one of the prettiest and coolest properties you can stay in, in rural Portugal. The property, room and pool and service was amazing, but the town itself situated in is also just one of the coolest experiences. So many handmade items included in your stay and available to purchase. The host is amazing, super friendly and laid back. The grounds were beautiful, unique and has so much character. We stayed here for a night after taking the train into Pochino and it was one of the highlights of our trips! Highly recommend!"
