The food is always delicious - favorites include tilapia with banku and grilled lobster when they have it. breakfast is sumptuous and the fresh pineapple melts in you mouth. The staff is always friendly and helpful - many have been at the resort for years, and they never fail to remember our family. Beds are comfortable, and the rustic vibe is so relaxing. Originally built by the Swedes for trading for timber and gold, the fort passed into the hands of the Dutch, followed by the British during which time the fort became infamously associated with the emergent slave trade. Today it serves as a stark reminder of that tragic period in history.
