We really enjoyed the billiards table; all 6 of us spent a lot of time sharpening our skills at it.Also, loved the beautifully wood crafted Jack Daniels card table/barrel! We all played various rounds of card games on it. The other area we enjoyed about this lofty scenic chalet, was its front lanai overlooking the lake! And just around the corner from it we enjoyed using their gas/charcoal grill! Just a little further down from the grill was the outdoor fish carved metal barrel for bon fires which we enjoyed each night we there!Absolutely marvelous arrangement of indoor and outdoor amenities for those kind of activities!Of course, the one area that we’d like to enjoy on our next visit, will be the use of their boat dock several steps below this Mystical Majestic Loft!
Cabin with a fantastic view, hosts were very accommodating, we had a wonderful time. Would recommend to friends and visit again. Beautiful scenic hike to Laurel Falls 10 minutes down the road.
Wonderful property! Weather didn't cooperate but it has been a crazy summer in SC, too. Full of amenities for kitchen and bathroom! Dock was further and steeper than anticipated but was beautiful!
We loved this property! We come to the lake every year and this property was well stocked and clean and allowed us to just relax! We loved the private dock!
This is our second visit to the property and we enjoyed just as much as our first visit. The cabin is very clean and we took full advantage of all the amenities that were offered including swimming off the dock to playing cards and pool in the game room. The owners are always very responsive and we look forward to staying here again soon!
We stayed for a couple of days in October and the property was just as advertised. Checkin/checkout was smooth and easy. Home was beautiful, comfotable and cozy! It had everything we needed. Excellent weekend!
The house is absolutely beautiful and the hosts were always available when needed. The drive to the actual hosue once you enter the gate is steep and the dock is a bit of a short walk. The place was clean and nice. Great place overall.
We had a great stay at this property, it has a beautiful view of the lake and is a short trip to multiple marinas. The house itself has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Just be aware that the driveway is super steep and your tires will slip a bit going up, especially in the rain.
Wonderful Cozy Cabin big enough to have a lot of family dun
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful lake front home. The host is incredibly responsive and gracious. We were able to spend the Thanksgiving holiday here and have our family from the surrounding area come to spend time with us. There was ample space for children of all ages and adults to gather in community. If it were warm out we could have enjoyed time on the water.
It was great clean and beautiful could see everything out the windows. Trees so colorful. The hot tub was so clean and warm enjoyed it so much. This is our 2nd year and just enjoy.
Beautiful cabin. Peaceful and remote area away from the hustle of everyday life. No cell service till you get down closer to Watauga Lake but enjoyed that aspect. WiFi was wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed
our time in this cabin. Everything you need was provide to cook and enjoy the comforts away from home:) Great communication with Host…
We had an amazing time. The cabin was absolutely beautiful. The host was very responsive and helpful.
We rented a pontoon boat for our time and tied it up to their dock. So convenient.
We can't wait to go back!!
Thank you!!
Very clean, lovely and comfortable. View from deck was wonderful. Bed was comfortable. Very quiet location. Good base to go in several directions. Yes the driveway is steep but that is common in this area. It is paved so not really a problem. Would stay again in a minute.
Very accommodating house with everything you need for the kitchen and extra blankets, etc. Great communication with the hosts and detailed instructions for everything in the house and the dock. The dock is down a steep hill but doable in a car back and forth. We brought our boat, kept it at the dock and had a great time! Would definitely rent again.
We had an amazing time celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and new years with friends here at this beautiful house. We spent the days snowboarding and then at night spent time playing cards and hot tubbing in the house at night. 10 out of 10 recommend this house to stay!
This property met all our needs. It was extremely spacious and offered a lot (coffee bar, fire pit, hot tub, spacious rooms and a beautiful view!)The steps to boat ramp were pretty steep but we didn’t need them. Driveway was steep with two very sharp turns that my hubby mastered. Morning coffee on the patio is a must! Would definitely come back. A big shoutout to our host for making our stay very comfortable and relaxing!
We had our first trip to lake watuga and we will be back for sure. The house was super clean and had everything we needed. We had 8 adults and make sure whoever sleeps in the pullout sofa is a night owl or enjoys the morning sun- The wall to wall windows were fantastic providing excellent views of the lake. Lake access was great. There was plenty of water to swim and the water is clean and refreshing. You will get your cardio by climbing the 144 steps back to the house!! We rented a boat for a few days and the folks at mallard cove were
fantastic to work with Overall- the cabin was great and we would recommend to others.
There are a lot of great things to say about this cabin. This Cabin had everything a family needed. It was probably the best stocked property I’ve staid in. From the hotel like travel soaps/shampoos to the stocked coffee bar. Both of which were unexpected but came in clutch. There was plenty of other amenities including the very large hot tub, which was very clean and in great condition, the pool table and card table. The owner communication was definitely above par. They made great and knowledgeable recommendations on boat launches and marinas nearby and were very understanding with some other last minute requests. Even though the stairs down to the dock were steep, that does little to diminish the great things this Cabin has to offer. Highly recommend staying here.

We loved the view from the house – the view and the lake itself are spectacular! The house itself is very well appointed, clean, and welcoming. The game room is fantastic and there’s plenty of games and DVDs for indoor entertainment. The coffee station is a nice bonus for anyone that wants to indulge. We very much appreciated all the little details! The house is very close to the recreation areas of Lake Watuga where you can swim and enjoy a small beach area. I suppose if you rent a boat or kayaks it is even more enjoyable (we didn’t.) We also enjoyed visiting Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, and the alpine mountain coaster in Banner Elk. These are all within an hour of the house and were fun to visit. We also enjoyed a great little restaurant near Linville Falls (The Tin Trout). This home is in one of the most scenic, beautiful areas we’ve ever seen! Christy was easily accessible to and accommodating to our requests.
There are some cons to the house which I wish we knew before booking so we hope to inform others: First, the road up to the house is very steep with switch backs and our Ford F150 had to do a few multi-point turns in 4 wheel drive. While the view of the lake is amazing, the access to it is very difficult. The steps down are more than most can handle. The pictures are deceiving. You will not be going back and forth from the lake to the house. You can also drive down, but again, our truck barely made the turns. Smaller cars might be ok.
