This is the seventh time in four years I have stayed in this house. I have had four mother/daughter retreats and three trips with a friend. It’s a clean, comfortable house, stocked with everything you need. The location is quiet and peaceful. Heather, the host, is wonderful
Great house for a couple or a family. My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Lickskillet house. A nice getaway with lots of relaxation. We also enjoyed our visits to the little town of Burnsville! Hope to get the opportunity to return some time.
We had a wonderful time visiting this part of North Carolina. It is a lovely all mountain town and after a day out and about it was nice to return to this cozy home with a creek out back, build a camp fire and look at the stars. Very relaxing!
This property was in such a beautiful location. We saw many deer during our stay. The teens enjoyed playing downstairs on the ping pong table. The creek outback had such beautiful views, especially during sunrise. Our family really enjoyed staying here. We look forward to hopefully renting again in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was very clean when we arrived and Heather was super responsive with any questions. It had plenty of room and the basement had a great assortment of games for the kids to enjoy. The creek made it very relaxing. There were plenty of trails and places to visit close by.
This is a great place to stay, just a few miles off US19E.Very comfortable, nicely decorated. We loved sitting near the creek and cooking s'mores in the firepit. There are beautiful views from the house. Many hiking trails in the area are still closed, due to damage from Helene. But it's an easy drive to the Laurel River trail (we recommend it) or to Asheville.
Love this property! Rented this property with a friend in August and came in September with my daughter for a mother/daughter retreat. It is a peaceful, relaxing place to spend time.
Beautiful property, updated, comfy bed. Creek in back yard was very soothing. The hot tub was a perfect addition after a day of hiking. Priced appropriately and the host Heather was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.
This home had everything we wanted in our mountain vacation. Creek, hot tub, views, and space. We also go SO MUCH MORE: Cows, friendly visits from dogs, barn quilts, game time, porch swing, and a beautiful yard/garden!
Small tidy home in a lovely setting on a rural mountain road. Kids (4 and 5.5) loved playing in the creek and the hot tub and were delighted by the fireflies in the evening. Convenient to the delightful town of Burnsville only 10 minutes away. The dead end road made for a lovely - and safe - walk in the mornings. A nice stay!
This is the best house!! Best for peace and relaxation if that is what you want. If you want fun/interesting things to do, this is a great location to access lots of things to do. This is my 5th stay in Lickskillet, including 2 times this summer and last summer. I love this house for many reasons
If you're looking for a great location outside of the city then look no further!
The house is a 10 of 10, exactly as advertised.... clean, warm, cozy and comfortable home in the country, in a peaceful and quiet area. This home is full of bonus amenities. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and hammock by the creek. It was the perfect location for our Fall getaway. Would definitely stay again!!
This was a beautiful location near Asheville. Heather and Clint were phenomenal hosts that paid such attention to detail. Everything was so organized and clean. There were so many things just to do onsite for a family. WE ALL LOVED IT!
I love this property! This is my fourth visit in three years. It is like going home. It is clean, comfortable, and well stocked. As I sat on the front porch swing one evening all I heard were the sounds of “night insects” and the relaxing sound of the little stream
This is a great rental! The house is really nice and made me feel at home. It’s in a quiet neighborhood. There is a pasture across the road and you can relax on the porch swing and watch them. The stream in the back yard takes you to another level of relaxation. Heather is the perfect host!
Our family had a great time in this adorable, immaculately clean, home. Our days started with coffee on the front porch and concluded with a dip in the hot tub with everything in between including foosball and ping-pong competitions and s’mores by the fire pit. The host was very responsive, accommodating and provided extras throughout the house to make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this to anyone and hope to return myself.
My husband and I stayed for a long weekend Anniversary trip. The house is close enough to Asheville for activities but far enough away to enjoy quiet relaxation. The property itself is beautiful with the sound of the creek heard all the way to the front porch, where we enjoyed the view of the old barn and cows. The house was meticulously cleaned and the bed linens were heavenly. We had everything we needed and the decor was gorgeous. It literally felt like home away from home. We would definitely stay again!
I stayed here with my husband and my two kids, ages 11 and 15. They LOVED the hot tub and the ping pong table. If I had to pick one word to describe the home it would be “thoughtful”. From the little notes all over the house to help the guests to the QR codes for directions on how to work the temperature control and the record player, nothing was overlooked. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained. The views were breathtaking from the home and we loved watching the cows, deer, and turkeys We enjoyed eating at the Snapdragon and drinking (and more eating!) at Home Place Brewery. There were a few gift shops near the restaurant where we grabbed souvenirs. All in all, a wonderful getaway!
We loved our stay at this peaceful mountain home! Heather has created such a wonderful home away from home. Comfortably decorated with notes to answer your every question. The hot tub was amazing after long days of exploring western North Carolina. We so enjoyed the valley view. The cows and fireflies were entertaining in the evenings and turkeys dotted the hills in the mornings. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed. We had fun with the basement games. The creek was so relaxing! Easy check in and check the out! Would definitely recommend!
We absolutely adored this place. It made it hard to leave. So many personal touches. We opted to stay in all weekend after a trip to the Biltmore because we just felt that cozy. The fire stove and hot tub absolutely were our highlights but there’s the creek, record player, and comfy beds. Heather gave us so much peace of mind with well thought out instructions and everything stocked well. We never even needed to contact her. We can’t thank you enough and will definitely want to be back. I totally understand the glowing reviews.
