Had a great stay. Staff were wonderful. Meals in the restaurant were the best I’ve had out for a long time. I’d travel the hour just for the food. Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. It would have been flawless if there was an 2nd pillow and the door from the stairs entry didn’t bang so loundly when people walked through. Both an easy fix. Would definitely recommend

Would definitely recommend coming here as soon as much to do. The lodge was amazing and very clean. The staff were very helpful. The restaurants were amazing and there was so much choice. The on-site shop again was excellent and nit expensive.

We recently stayed for two nights and had an excellent experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and welcoming, nothing was ever too much trouble. The food was of an exceptionally high standard and very reasonably priced. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Our room was spotless, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I enjoyed one of the best nights’ sleep I’ve had in a long time. I genuinely cannot fault our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it and will most definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

Staff was very friendly upon check in. The carpets on the way to the room were quite dirty and the bathroom floor hadn’t been mopped properly for a while - it was filthy. I spilt a little water onto the floor and as I wiped it with some tissue paper it was totally brown due to the dirt on the floor. It was 30 degrees celsius at least due to the heatwave, during my first night’s stay I noticed there was no fan. The following morning around 10am I asked the cleaner for a fan, she said they didn’t have any but if she could find one she would leave it outside my room. There was no fan left outside, the following morning upon check out I advised the staff at the counter no fan had been provided. She advised the hotel didn’t provide any and that most hotels in the UK don’t have AC or fans due to the climate! I advised her that a £40 per night hotel often has a fan in the room, she seemed surprised. Talk about gas lighting. My bedroom double glazing window frame had been painted from the inside, I could see the paint flaking and dirt on the frame. The paint on the banister rails leading up to the first bedrooms had paint flaking also. It is a real shame, the hotel has potential as the location is good it’s little but crucial points such as hygiene and maintenance that let the place down. If these issues were sorted I think customers would pay more and return for future stays.

Disappointing

I've stayed before and the rooms are nice enough, I can only assume they're currently sort staffed. Checked in after a long day, no remote in the room, commented Tuesday morning. Checked out Friday, room had not been serviced during the four night stay, no remote added. I guess a nice place for a one night stay.

Lovely setting - let down by mould coated shower

Black mould on seals in the shower tiled area and the showerheads ruined an otherwise clean, bathroom.Bits of black mould came off when using the shower despite running the water to try to clean it. The extractor did not work so this may have contributed to the problem. Reported at checkout. Lovely setting and very cheery waitresses and bar girls. Limited menu. Breakfast and evening meals more expensive than similar hotels

A nice little hotel.

We were greeted by a lovely young woman (I didn’t get her name but she had lovely brown curly hair) who checked us in. I had requested a low floor room due to mobility issues but I don’t think this had been actioned as she looked at my walking stick and asked if I would like a ground floor room, and then checked which rooms were ready and switched us to that one. The room was adequate, if a little tired. With a little maintenance it could be lovely again, just a few things that let it down. It was by the main road though opposite a car park which seemed to be a gathering spot for petrol heads who sat in their cars revving up etc. We were a little worried this would go on till late in the night but it settled down quite early so we were thankful for that. We ate in the restaurant at the hotel and found the staff, service and food to be absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the setting of the restaurant is lovely. The blonde haired lady (possibly the manager) was lovely to our dog and sorted out a billing issue for me the next day. All in all a nice one night stop over and we would return. I would just urge the company that owns these properties to carry on investing in them as I find so many are just running them on a shoestring and not caring about the customer experience anymore. Keep up the good work forest to keep it the lovely place it is.

I didn't realise I'd have to request a room clean on a daily basis, so even though the Team had been in to replace towels and empty the bin, the bed remained unmade and the cup was still dirty. Bathroom was far too cold for use at night and in the morning as no central heating, just a heated towel rail. Bathroom floor was covered in hair strands which definitely were not from my head - one of my pet hates - which could only mean the floor hadn't been swept or mopped recently. No water in the room. There was a spare restaurant chair and fan left outside my room door both nights. It's a good thing that my case wasn't larger as i may have struggled to pass these. But as a partial recompense for the bedroom non- clean, Gary did give me 2 complimentary bottled waters the last night. Staff are absolutely lovely, but you can see where there are cost cutting activities. The online express checkout and pay appeared to take my card details but then the screen showed an error on the final page and although i could see the transaction on my card and Google pay app, i was informed the checkout had not completed as it was still in pending status. As i didnt want to pay twice, i asked for a callback if it didnt go through within the next day. Not greeat first stay impressions unfortunately.

Absolutely do NOT RECOMMEND! Do not book! It says on the booking description please contact property if check in is after 10pm, tried calling all day- got through at 6pm as their ‘phone lines were down’ to be told - no late check in! Refund not given! Was booked as a wedding present for bride n groom on their wedding night!
