From its hardwood floors, handmade furniture and hand-hewn stairs to its antique decorations, this smoky mountain log cabin takes you back in time.

Sit on the porch a spell and enjoy the rockers and the view across Deep Creek Valley. Or roast marshmallows around the fire pit.

Inside this cozy cabin you’ll find a unique stacked stone half-round gas fireplace with rockers pulled up to enjoy the fire, or turned to enjoy the cable TV.

Downstairs, there’s a full-sized bed in front of the fireplace; and upstairs an antique, iron full-sized bed. There’s one bath with tub/shower, hair dryer, soaps and plenty of towels.

The kitchen may look old-timey, but it is equipped with stove, toaster oven, refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. You’ll find all the utensils and you need for cooking and dining for four at the old farm table. If you’d rather cook outdoors, there’s a stone outdoor barbeque grill for your use.

Before you pack up the car and head for the mountains, know that when we say mountains, we really mean it!

Downtown Bryson City has an elevation of 1,752 feet, so think of this as a starting point. The majority of our cabins will have a higher elevation than this. This means that our roads- both state and private- will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be use to driving. Also, you should expect to encounter gravel roads. Consider it part of our rural mountain charm!

Here at Yellow Rose, your safety is our priority. If a cabin requires 4 wheel, front wheel, or all wheel drive to access it, it will be listed in the description. If bringing or riding motorcycles, please call and ask for motorcycle friendly properties. The Chestnut Cabin description was accurate and fully exceeded our already high expectations. We were extremely pleased and would highly recommend this to anyone looking at a cabin rental in the area. Deep Creek offers some nice hiking and we enjoyed the water falls and hike along the creek. The location acted as a hub for 3 days of hiking in the GSMNP. Being able to come back each night and sit by the fire was a great experience. The local eateries in town were great as well. A perfect stay, overall experience, and we will be back for sure.

Reviewer Comments: we had a great time at the Chestnut and our kids are young, we felt completly comfortable with them playing around the cabin and the grounds. there are two other rental cabins close and would make a great get together with friends or families having separate cabins. It is a tight fit with no sofa or chairs other than kitchen chairs or rocking chair so if you need comfort in that way it wont work for you. We loved the rustic feel, the super comfy beds!

Our daughter had been wanting to stay in a cabin - a real cabin - and that is what we got, AND THEN SOME. It was SO clean, and there was plenty of room for my husband and me plus our teen-aged daughter. She slept in the loft and just loved it. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, bathroom, and living/bedroom area. They have gone to great lengths to make this an authentic, nostalgic, cabin experience, BUT it is so close to several quaint little towns. We had plenty to do and felt at home. We would love to stay again in the future.

However, it was very dark and hardto see for older people. If you are young and have good eyes, no problem!We couldn't get the TV to work. Can't use the toaster oven as there isn't a rack in it. We didn't cook at all in there, I had to go buy an extension cord as we were both on caps and very sparse on plugs. Very small and I wouldn't rent it again.
