The Cabin – A Boutique Retreat in the New Forest

Railway Junction Cottage and Cabin accommodates up to 10 guests: six in the cottage and four in the cabin.

Both properties have been thoughtfully refurbished and designed to create a comfortable and sociable base for extended families and groups. The main cottage provides plenty of space for everyone to cook, dine and spend time together, while the nearby cabin offers additional privacy and flexibility.

The Cottage

Enter through the cloakroom into a spacious open-plan living area with a dining table, wood-burning stove and fully fitted kitchen. The garden room connects the house to the garden and provides additional living space, with doors opening outside.

There is space for up to 10 guests to dine together and make full use of the well-equipped kitchen.

The cottage has a downstairs double bedroom and WC. Upstairs, there is a master bedroom, a bunk room and an additional family bathroom.

Please note that the open fireplace in the garden room is decorative only and must not be used.

The Cabin

The cabin is just a few steps from the cottage and has its own entrance and living space.

There is a large sitting room with a sofa, television, two armchairs and a bistro dining table with two chairs. The main ground-floor bedroom has a king-size bed and en-suite shower room. There is also an additional bathroom off the sitting room.

Steep loft ladders lead to an open-plan mezzanine sleeping area above the sitting room. The double bed on the mezzanine will be made up when the total number of guests is greater than eight. If you would prefer two single beds instead of the double, please let us know in advance. Guests requesting the two single beds will need to bring their own single bedding.

The loft is suitable only for agile guests. It has restricted ceiling height, steep ladders and open sides. Use by children under 13 is strictly at parental discretion, and guests accept responsibility for their safety.

The kitchenette includes a fridge, sink, toaster, kettle, crockery, cutlery, glasses, corkscrew and Nespresso machine. A small countertop oven and single-ring halogen hob are also provided.

Outside

The cottage has a lovely fenced and hedged garden with a lawn, BBQ and outdoor dining space for up to 10 guests.

The cabin has a separate private courtyard with its own BBQ and seating area, along with covered bicycle storage and a log store.

Parking is limited to three cars when booking the cottage and cabin together.

The property is adjacent to a railway line, so passing trains may occasionally be heard. This does not disturb most guests, and we barely notice it ourselves.
Situated on the edge of Brockenhurst in the heart of the New Forest, The Cabin is an ideal base for walking, cycling and exploring the forest and nearby coast.

The Cabin sits within the grounds of Railway Cottage but has its own private entrance, living space and outside seating area. Guests should be aware that the two properties are close to one another.

The Cabin has been refurbished and fitted out to a high standard, offering a comfortable place to relax and recharge.

The Cabin is ideal for two adults. An additional loft sleeping area can accommodate up to two more guests. The double mezzanine bed will be made up for bookings of more than two guests. If you would prefer 2 singles please bring your own bedding.

The loft is reached by steep ladders and has restricted ceiling height and open sides. It is suitable only for agile guests. Use by children under 13 is strictly at parental discretion. Babies and non-crawling infants are welcome. Guests accept responsibility for the safety of children and adults using the mezzanine - it is accesed by a ladder and may not be suitable for all.

The kitchenette includes a small portable oven and grill, single-ring hob, fridge, sink, toaster, kettle, crockery, cutlery, glasses, corkscrew and Nespresso machine. Instant coffee, sugar and a selection of teas are provided. This is not a fully fitted kitchen and is best suited to preparing light meals. The bistro table seats two guests.

Outside, the Cabin has a private courtyard with BBQ and seating. The rear garden is reserved for guests staying in Railway Cottage. Railway Cottage is beside a slow section of railway line, so you may occasionally hear trains passing. This does not affect most guests, and we barely notice them ourselves.
