Braunlage has a cozy city center with various shops and dining options, ranging from snack bars to lounge bars. Added to this is the wonderful location in the middle of the Harz National Park, which promises you a varied holiday with hiking, cycling tours, mountain biking and many excursions into nature. For example, the Wurmberg is ideal for hiking. The path to the summit winds at a leisurely incline through the forest and offers you spectacular views of Braunlage and the neighboring Brocken. Of course you can also take the cable car up and down. You shouldn't miss a nostalgic ride on the narrow-gauge railway up the Brocken; the nearest train station is in Schierke, about ten kilometers away. The Brocken Coaster also invites you to adventurous descents. The cultural highlights include visits to the Rübeland stalactite caves and a visit to the Königshütte mine.
