Just what we were looking for!

Booked a 5 day getaway over Christmas to escape the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I chose this listing as it had a lake view, fireplace, spaciousness (3 adults) with the comforts of home and not too far from the city. We would stay here again.

Girls getaway 2024!

We had a nice time at the cottage, was clean and tidy when we got there and left it in great condition when we left. The door handle was broken and needed a new screw so we were able to get it fixed

Neglected cottage

Bathroom floors and vanity not clean, sheets on one bed seemed damp, back porch was not clean, many days not clean, sliding doors had cobwebs at all corners, no screen door here, steps from parking to door in very poor, dangerous condition, kayaks were not cleaned off and made ready for use. This cottage had not been made ready for guests. Concerned that vrbo is advertising for unkept property. We wasted time, money, dreams of a wonderful weekend ruined!!

Quick cottage getaway

The cottage is cozy but it is a bit more run down than the photos show. When we got there there was mouse droppings everywhere, over all the cutlery, stove, piles in the living room couch and carpet…way more than seemed possible if the places had been cleaned in the last 5 days (we cleaned it all when we arrived and didn’t see any new droppings over the next 2 days). We understand this is a cottage and mice are around but the piles in the kitchen drawers were shocking. The fireplace in the living room wasn’t working and the remotes had dead batteries to begin with. The stairs leading to the back deck are coming apart and we had a fall when they ripped. This cottage is cozy for what it is but I would hope that the owners put some more work into the place before renting it out again - or at least a DEEP clean!
