"I was surprised by the great reviews. I was pleased with the cleanliness of the actual room. However, the initial impression when you walk in the lobby is that you want to turn right back around a book a different hotel. It’s smells terrible. I think it’s a mix of smoke and must. But there are signs all over stating no smoking. The stairwell and hallways also carried a strong smell. Luckily my room was tolerable. I had an end room facing a back parking lot with concrete stairs that may not even be owned by the hotel. But there was someone seated on the landing halfway up for hours into the night right outside my window which made me uncomfortable. Later in the night another person was loitering there and I still don’t know why. Several times a woman came in and out of the lobby and sat in front of the hotel as well. It was all a bit too sketchy for me. My gut says it wasn’t just people awaiting rides. It also rained during the night and the people on the stairway remained. Anyway, there are nicer looking hotels just across the street so maybe that’s another option for next time. I just got bad vibes all around from this particular stay. I wanted to walk to dinner but decided against it due to feeling a bit uneasy. The front desk staff were helpful but I had a difficult time understanding them and they were constantly on the phone, didn’t even hang up to check me in. I didn’t feel it was worth it to ask them about the loitering. Hot water was lukewarm. "

"Only two machines in the fitness center worked. I enjoy working out when I travel and this was disappointing. Sure, it doesn't have to be the most modern, but at least it should be operable. As a positive, the staff were amazing! The breakfast was delicious and the room and conditions were perfect. "
