Mimi's Guestroom - Texas' best kept secret!

Historically accurate restoration of a dry-stacked rock home with sealed cement interior walls, air conditioning and spectacular views of Big Bend National Park.

The decor is rustic luxury with a touch of Mexico and the large clawfoot tub is perfectly positioned for guests to soak in the expansive views.

The La Posada Guesthouse, offering six unique rooms, is located in the heart of Terlingua’s Ghost Town, minutes from the Big Bend National Park and The Big Bend Ranch State Park in far West Texas. We are surrounded by a million acres of state and national parks!

All guests enjoy large terraces and courtyards with fire pits, an outdoor kitchen and extraordinary views of historic Terlingua in front of the Chisos Mountain range.

  • The Rio Grande River winds 12 miles down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, Texas. When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. An excellent day excursion in the out of the way national park.

We hiked further than the 0.7 mile indicated on the signage, and ended up scooting and scrambling up the most interesting narrow and smooth chutes. We heard the song of the elusive canyon wren, too. True Texas Escape

Staying in Mimi's Guestroom was one of the very BEST decisions I made when planning my Far West Texas trip with friends. In fact, it was my my favorite overnight stay of my entire 10-day trip. What made it so was because it was completely comfortable, authentic, classy, and unassumingly cool. Waking up in that incredibly comfortable king-sized bed & watching the pre-dawn light & eventual sunrise come up over the mountains was an unforgettable experience. Can't thank them enough for & loved everything!

Terlingua getaway

Best place is town!!! So special. The little cafe below the rooms is the icing on the cake. You won’t find a better sunrise in West Texas. Love love love

We loved the view!! The room and bed was great. Location was great too. My husband and i are older so the stairs were a lot but liked our cassita the best. Also, checking in on Saturday, the Boat House had music playing later. Went for quite.

Enjoyed stay

We stayed in #6. The cabin was nicely decorated and view was great. The cabin is right next to another cabin and there’s quite a bit of shared outside space which made it feel more like a hotel than our own remote cabin. Luckily our neighbors weren’t loud people so we had no problem. The coffee shop down the hill was fantastic.

Short & Sweet.

It was a short sweet weekend for my husband and I. It was a duplex type rooms so we did have a connecting neighbor. Overall it was a good stay, enjoyed the room!

A slice of Heaven in the desert

We loved our stay at Mimi’s and the location is perfect. Just a short walk to our favorite restaurant, the Starlight Theater. Terligua swings to its own beat and we dig it. Weather was perfect in January. We could spend a month here. The view from the patio was stunning & the stars were big & bright. Definitely plan to return.

This is a beautiful concept but extremely difficult for someone that walk with a cane. Should have been informed how difficult gaining access could be. Also city water was contaminated and there was no notification to guest that shower water was dangerous. Other than that beautiful.

what a tease

this place looks perfect.. online. The pictures are great and it actually is pretty nice on the inside, however, looks can be deceiving. #1 very little privacy. Upon arrival, we were surprised to see that this is a room in a house, not a standalone structure. our neighbors had a party until 1:30 right outside our windows where they could obviously see into our room with the blinds drawn. we ended up having to cut off all the lights in our room so that they couldn't see us. #2 Rats! There are rats in this house and they are relentless. I had to give my girlfriend earplugs to sleep because they were chewing so loud! I repeatedly banged the ceiling above our heads where they were chewing multiple holes through and they kept coming back. #3 Zero Remorse: I POLITELY texted the owner that night to see if we could change rooms with no response. what is even worse is that he never texted or called back to this day! I have no remorse giving this place one star. if you like people watching you in bed and rats chewing over your face all night then this is the place for you.

Would absolutely book again!

The town of Terlingua has so much charm, and you have a great view overlooking the city and the surrounding mountains at this property. Be aware that the guest room is the other half of the same building, but we were lucky enough that no one else had booked the bunk room. The property has everything you need, and the town has a general store nearby for anything you might’ve forgotten to bring. I would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend Santa Elena Canyon!!

This should not be advertised as Mimi's Guestroom. The coffee shop/guesthouse are under a different name so it doesn't pop up on google maps and the locals have no idea what you are talking about when asking for directions to Mimi's Guestroom.
