Charming private townhouse-style lodging, a block from Marblehead Harbor

Chestnut Sweet, a two-floor townhouse-style apartment, is located in its own building in one of Marblehead's historic neighborhoods, called the Shipyard. Ideal for two adults (or for a couple and one guest), the Sweet is quiet and private, a gentle, fireplaced respite from your day's activities: swimming at nearby beaches, playing tennis and pickleball, sailing, shopping, and dining in town, and enjoying Marblehead's rich history. Everything is within easy walking distance. The Sweet features, on its first floor, a sitting room on the garden with a convertible love seat (to a double guest bed if needed0 and large closet; a living room with flatscreen TV and gas fireplace; a kitchenette (coffeemaker, countertop oven (we are not zoned for a full-size stove), microwave, electric kettle, and small fridge; full bath with rain shower, laundry facilities, and easy, private ground-floor access. Its second floor offers a queen bed, half-bath, skylights, ceiling fan, large bureau, and closet. The Sweet has full AC, plus wonderful sound-proofing throughout, making it a truly relaxing and private get-away space. Guests will have bikes, beach chairs, and beach towels to use, and a pair of congenial hosts who are available 24/7.

Absolutely wonderful stay!

Cozy New England Cottage

This was a dream come true. This cozy cottage was the perfect place for a fall stay in Massachusetts. My friends and I stayed and drove to Salem. It was a short beautiful drive from the cottage. Francis was the perfect hostess. I would completely recommend!

Wonderful getaway

My friends and I enjoyed our stay in the Sweet so much. It was clean and cute, and the hosts were top notch. We also liked that it was so close to everything we wanted to do in Marblehead, Boston, and Salem! I would definitely come back!

Marblehead Gem

This property as well as the owners Francie and Bob, are absolutely charming. The location on the quiet street near the water was unforgettable and the town of Marblehead is so quaint. The owners think of everything to make your stay comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and wouldn’t stay anywhere else on our next visit to the area.

The Sweet was so perfect for our family over thanksgiving weekend. Francie was perfectly accommodating and communicative. The sweet was immaculately clean, and so cozy in cold weather. It was our best short term rental experience we’ve had. We’ve recommended her place to family and hope to be back one day!

A wonderful week!

My husband and I had a wonderful first visit to the Boston area, and staying at this VRBO was a large part of the joy. Francie and Bob have thought of every little detail and made the place feel like home. Plenty of natural light, soft and warm blankets and the coziest furniture. They even have a binder full of instructions and recommendations at the ready. And the space was even more spacious than it looked in photos. It was a delightful stay and we hope to come back soon.

Perfect place! 💗

I made a solo trip to Marblehead for vacation and this property was perfect for my getaway! The cottage was super clean and cozy and had all the amenities that I could’ve needed. There’s a gas fireplace in the living room that was perfect after being out in the chilly air all day seeing the local sites. Francie and Bob were amazing hosts and were available 24/7 if I needed anything. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you are looking for a comfortable, safe place close to everything. I definitely would stay here again and already miss Marblehead! ✨

Hidden Gem

Chestnut Sweet is absolutely fabulous! Bob and Francie the owners have thought out every detail to make one's stay best. The decor and all the lovely amenities make it a very special spot. 'The Sweet' is centrally located so you can walk everywhere downtown and in Old Town to the shop, restaurants, parks etc. We look forward to return visit. . The decor and little touches are top notch.

Exceptional stay at Chestnut Suite, a memorable Marblehead experience.

Our experience with our rental has been a beautiful discovery. We were greeted by Francie upon our arrival, whose hospitality exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was even better than described. A welcome package awaited us, including an assortment of fruits, nuts, and cheeses. The VRBO is located in a quiet neighbourhood, and a concise walk reveals a stunning view of the harbour. I highly recommend an early morning walk to witness the sunrise and the picturesque scenery. The hospitality and comfort created a memorable stay. We are very grateful to have chosen the Chestnut Suite VRBO in Marblehead.

Cozy Stay In Marblehead

This cottage and the owners are amazing! The cottage was clean and decorated with so much thought. There was fruit and cheese awaiting us. The host gave us suggestions for places to eat and they did not disappoint. My mother and I were staying in Marblehead to actually visit Salem for Saturday. We are need up exploring Marblehead and surroundings towns, even just relaxing in the cottage 😊. We enjoyed it so much!! We will definitely be back and I may be back for a solo trip just to relax and enjoy being by the water and quiet small town. Love this place ❤️❤️❤️😊

Adorable "Sweet"

What an adorable little cottage. The pictures don't even do it justice. It is bigger then it seems. I love the attention to detail, the decor is stunning and Marblehead is breathtaking. It was a perfect distance from the madness in Salem. (Which is why we came). We ended up loving Marblehead more. Francie and Bob are amazing hosts So accommodating and kind. The "Sweet" was so well appointed, we wanted for nothing. I will definitely be returning. Thank you!

Marblehead Marvel

This vacation rental was perfect! The pictures that you see on-line depict the property exactly as you will find it, but even better. The space is used well and we found every room to be extremely comfortable and well appointed. Did I mention how clean, fresh and new everything was? It is clear that great care is taken with maintaining this property so that guests will be comfortable. Francie, the host, was extremely attentive to our questions before we even booked the property and once we arrived she made sure to address all of our needs. She is delightful to talk, yet she will never be in your way. The parking is on the street, but this was never an issue, nor could I see how it ever would be. You can pull into the driveway to load and unload your gear, and then park right in front of Francie's house on the street. (The rental is a separate building behind Francie's house). We like to walk and found that we could easily walk to restaurants, grocery stores, parks, historical sites and the beach. Her property is also a short drive to Salem. If you are considering a visit to Marblehead please look no further than this property. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed. I would like to sincerely thank Francie and Bob for everything, and we hope to return for another stay!

Tranquil Retreat

We received a warm, hospitable greeting at check-in. Francie provided a tour of The Sweet and made us feel comfortable as we settled in. The Sweet was converted from a machine shop into the most delightful vacation cottage. I would wake up and want to stay in the bedroom all day, it was so peaceful. We had breakfast amongst the hydrangeas, and then I wanted to stay there all day. They had fruit bowl, cheese, bottled water, and more for us when we arrived. Francie put fresh cut flowers from the garden in the living room and sittting room/2nd bedroom. The kitchenette included all the appliances and service ware needed for a vacation. The manuals for the appliances were right next to them, in case we were unsure about their operation. The hosts provided a wonderful binder filled everything you want to know regarding The Sweet, local urgent care, supermarkets, and restaurants. I appreciated being able to do a small load of laundry before returning home. Both beds were comfortable. I cannot say enough nice things about The Sweet and the hosts. I wish we could have stayed longer, and I would love to return.
