Grande Albergo Roma

Grande Albergo Roma

8/10 Good
"Very nice hotel in the center of Piacenza - clean and comfortable and upscale in feel. Lovely rooftop bar with views over the town. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only negatives were poor WiFi in the room and lack of insulation so noise from the street and neighbouring rooms was an issue. Otherwise hotel was an excellent choice for us."

"- clean room - very comfortable parking - personnel very professional and friendly - good variety at breakfast - only suggestion would be to be allowed to slightly open the window to change air. I am sure you have a good air conditioning system but still it’s something that could be considered"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Borio?
The best area to stay in Borio is the historic centre, particularly around Piazza Maggiore and the Quadrilatero district. This central area is the heart of Borio, characterised by its medieval architecture, narrow arcaded streets, and bustling squares. Piazza Maggiore is the main public square, home to significant landmarks like the Basilica di San Petronio and Palazzo d'Accursio, and it's a natural gathering point. The Quadrilatero, just off Piazza Maggiore, is an ancient market area with streets like Via Pescherie Vecchie and Via Drapperie, filled with food stalls, speciality shops, and traditional eateries. It's incredibly walkable and serves as the main hub for visitors.Couples will find this area particularly appealing due to its romantic setting and easy access to Borio's culinary delights and cultural sites. Strolling through the historic streets, enjoying aperitivo in a charming piazza, and discovering hidden trattorias makes for a memorable experience. The proximity to attractions like the Two Towers and the Archiginnasio Library also adds to its appeal. For solo travellers who enjoy exploring on foot and appreciate a lively yet refined atmosphere, the historic centre is also an excellent choice. It's easy to navigate, and there are plenty of opportunities to experience local life, from browsing the market stalls in the Quadrilatero to enjoying a coffee at a historic cafe.
When is the best time to go to Borio?
The best time to visit Borio, Emilia, Italy, is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, making it ideal for exploring the Emilia-Romagna region's beautiful countryside and historic towns. You'll find comfortable temperatures great for outdoor activities like cycling through vineyards or strolling through Borio's quaint streets without the intense summer heat. These seasons also offer fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience.Foodies will particularly enjoy visiting in autumn. This is harvest season, meaning you'll have the freshest local produce, including grapes for wine and truffles. Many local festivals celebrating regional specialities take place during this time, offering a wonderful opportunity to sample authentic Emilia cuisine. It's a fantastic time for couples to enjoy culinary tours and wine tastings in a romantic setting. While summer (July and August) is also popular, it can be quite hot, with temperatures often soaring, which might be less comfortable for sightseeing.
