A cabin that blends its long history with modern amenities and updated décor. This unique cabin feels cozy and inviting yet is undeniably special. Dog Mountain is located on nearly 2 acres with a creek and private pond and is nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is only 15 minutes from Boone and centrally located to the best experiences of North Carolina's High Country, allowing guests to enjoy a variety of different experiences during their stay.

When you arrive at Dog Mountain you will be greeted by a creek and private pond that are surrounded by an abundance of trees. Park your car in the multi-car driveaway and step onto the large wrap around porch. The covered patio has a daybed and a seating area that is surrounded by string lights creating the perfect spot for a morning coffee, a glass of wine at the end of the day or just a relaxing place to recharge anytime during your stay.

Once you open the door to the cabin you will immediately enter an open concept living space with beautiful natural wood ceilings. The living room has comfortable seating options allowing you to enjoy the 65-inch Roku TV, you will need to log into your personal accounts (no local channel available). If you would like to create a cozy ambience, turn on the gas fireplace located under the mantle created from an original 1960's beam from when the cabin was built. A variety of board games and puzzles are also provided in the living room.

The fully updated and equipped kitchen has everything for you to prepare meals if you decide to eat in, from a slow cooker to a Ninja blender. Guests love the stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, farmhouse sink and pot filler faucet. Coffee lovers can take advantage of a coffee bar behind a barn door that includes both a Keurig and Nespresso (with a milk frother), as well as an electric cold brewer and coffee grinder. If you are a tea drinker, several tea options are provided for you to enjoy as well.

Guests may enjoy your meal eating on the large kitchen island that comfortably accommodates three people or the large dining room table that can set up to six. We have Nest Hub available, guests may unplugged it if not comfortable. The dining room table is perfect for meals and board games (as well as working and sending emails if you need to catch up). While at the dining table you may find yourself staring at the gallery wall that showcases the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains with a variety of pictures taken on the property or in the High Country area.

The cabin contains two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master suite contains a California king bed with 100% cotton sheets, ceiling fan, spacious closet and a 55-inch Roku TV. The master bathroom is an experience, as it offers a spa atmosphere with a soaking tub, large custom standing shower with rain shower head, floating vanities and tranquil smart lights. You can even play your favorite music in the master bathroom using Bluetooth. The second bedroom contains two queen beds, ceiling fan, large closet and a 65-inch Roku TV. The second bathroom also offers a spa atmosphere with a large custom standing shower, floating vanities and tranquil smart lights.

The sunroom contains a daybed creating another great spot for you to enjoy a coffee in the morning, a glass of wine at the end of the day or just a recharge spot for anytime during your stay. If you enjoy reading, you will love to read in the daybed while taking in the amazing view of the pond and outdoor entertainment area.

The backyard contains a fully fenced area that makes it safe and easy to bring your furry family member with you for your stay – it even includes a poop station! The fence is 5ft metal on front and 6ft wood privacy on back and side (very small dogs could go through metal fence). The backyard also includes a propane grill for grilling out and a six-person table to enjoy a great meal outside, whether it be under the sun or the stars. You will enjoy the beautiful sounds of birds singing in the trees and frogs croaking in the pond. If you are lucky, you may even see some wildlife. The fire pit is surrounded by string lights that makes it a cozy place perfect for a romantic time with your special someone or a fun time making s'mores. Another brand-new addition to the cabin is a four-person hot tub equipped with a waterfall and Bluetooth sound system, which is sure to be a place that you will want to enjoy more than once during your stay. A small treehouse is tucked away at the rear of the backyard and provides a secluded spot to enjoy a moment of stillness. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS ABOUT THE CABIN:

*While the cabin has a certain level of privacy, it is important to note that the cabin is not fully secluded, and the privacy level varies greatly during different times of the year due to trees losing their leaves.

*Fenced area is the area shown on pictures and video, facing the fire pit and hot tub. That is the only area that is fenced, our almost 2 acres is not fenced, just the area shown on pictures and video.

*We are a 1960 cabin that has been fully renovated; however, there are some unique aspects to the cabin from parts of the floor that make noise to windows that are not centered in the middle of the walls.

*We are on well water (like most cabins in the area), so it is very likely that the water will not always be crystal clear.

*This cabin is not suitable for anyone with allergies to dogs.

*Food/Wine/Wood used for images and video are not included with booking.

*We do not have any control over things that happen outside the property lines or the weather.

    * This area is the native habitat for many creatures big and small. This includes bears, mice, snakes, and bugs. We do our best to keep the critters out by having pest control every few weeks, but every once in a while critters and crawlies do get in. You are solely responsible for any run-ins with wildlife.

*Cell service is often poor in the area, so print or save to your phone directions and

As Advertised and More!

It’s really nice to arrive and find everything as advertised and more. This is a great getaway that is close to Boone. Clean fresh linens, warm cozy bed, super cool home layout, great retreat in your own back yard. Everything was perfect and we don’t say that often! Thank you!

Great stay at Dog Mountain

Our stay at Dog Mountain was wonderful. The home is comfortable, very clean, well-appointed in all areas for both pups and people. The amenities are extensive, high-quality and contribute to the comfort, relaxation, and peace of the home. The yard is beautiful and very comfortable for both pups and humans and we enjoyed many quiet afternoons and evenings playing with our dogs, reading, day-dreaming, cloud-watching, and just “being”. We look forward to returning to enjoy Dog Mountain and the many near-by adventures.

Dog Mountain Mountain Getaway

Thanks so much for sharing your home! We really enjoyed our stay and so did our pups. Everything was very clean and cozy. Loved the little extra touches such as s'mores kit, coffee & tea as we all as the bath salts in the master bathroom. The pups really enjoyed the fenced in area. Loved all the Christmas decorations too! Thanks again for having such a cute space to enjoy with our furry family.

We love Dog Mountain!

This was our second stay at Dog Mountain and will not be our last! The house is so cozy and perfect for humans and dogs alike. It has to be the cleanest pet friendly place we have EVER stayed…absolutely spotless! Roberta has thought of everything you might need to make you and your pets feel at home. It is quite apparent that she has put her heart into this property and is literally just a text away if you need to reach out to her. Such a lovely spot nestled into the side of the mountain, you can’t help but relax when you’re there ❤️

Great family accommodations PLUS dog-friendly!

The cutest house, with all the personal touches to make an awesome small family getaway! The house was the perfect size for us and our teenage son plus our 2 small/medium dogs. We loved the hot tub, fire pit and string lights in the evenings and the separate fenced in area for the dogs was great. Huge game selection if you want to unplug as well as huge tvs in each room if you want to watch a movie or shows. Loved that everything was newly remodeled and clean! About a 15 minute drive into Boone for great restaurants. Definitely recommend!

Labor day weekend at Dog Mountain

We spent Labor day weekend at this house in Boone NC. This is a wonderful home that has been fully renovated. The place was very clean. The bathrooms are beautifully done. Kitchen has all new appliances and more kitchen extras than we could ever use. Fully equipped coffee bar. We used the gas grill and the hot tub both worked great. There is a nice park called Todd Island a few miles up the road and Titan our GSD loved it. I fully recommend this location especially if you have dogs.

Amazing!

We just got home today, and I am already spreading the word about this rental. We absolutely loved it! First, it's the most dog loving place we've ever stayed. Many places are dog friendly, but this was on another level. You can feel how much they also love human's best friends. The home was spotless, the cleaning team obviously works hard and does an amazing job. The amenities are amazing, just try the rain shower! We loved the firepit, the hot tub, the dog run, the outdoor lighting. It couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you so much for allowing us to decompress in your beautifully restored home!

A JOY to behold at first opening the door

From the front porch to the floor plan and amenities this cottage is beyond wonderful. Everything is thought out prior to your arrival. CLEAN? You do not know what clean means unless you have experienced Dog Mountain. I expected it to be nice according to the internet pictures but they do not do it justice. We barbecued out, took a hot tub soak, slept like royalty in beautiful pure white bedroom accessories and heard nothing but the sounds of nature. It is close to Boone and we enjoyed dinner at the Local, Cracker Barrel, and a wonderful brewery/Italian restaurant that I cannot remember the name of. The amphitheater play of Daniel Boone's era was wonderful, and the hiking trails are all over. I will forever remember the peaceful and natural view of nature from the front porch. The frogs give you their version of music. Jo Zarnoch Denver NC Visit 7/15 - 7/19/2024.

Welcoming mountain getaway!

Our stay was awesome. There are very few places that allow dogs, much less welcomes them! The house was great and provided all the comforts and amenities of home. We loved the hot tub and fire pit (providing the s’mores kit was a bonus! Our dogs were comfortable and enjoyed our hikes we took only a short drive away. Boone and blowing rock were close by for us to enjoy the towns and restaurants. We really had a great time and plan to visit again! Thank you for the thoughtfulness and effort that you have put into Dog Mountain. It shows! Thank you, Eric W

Glorious stay in Boone!

Dog Mountain was perfection! I don’t know where to begin! From the moment I stepped in, it felt like the most spotless, fresh smelling cottage tucked away in the mountains. It felt like no one had been there prior to my visit. Scout and I loved everything! Some of our favorites were the front porch and the sunroom spot. I love to read, and she loves to be a lazy dog just finding good napping spots. It was heavenly. We adore Isle of Dogs in Oak Island and have visited there four times. Now we adore Dog Mountain! Roberta is over the top in the hosting world. Beyond A plus! We hope to return again in the future! Lois B
