OMG!!! Cozy Log GUEST CABIN on Horse Ranch w Mountain Views. Pet Friendly!
Owners/Hosts invite you to their Cozy Log GUEST CABIN, which has been newly re-decorated in the RALPH LAUREN EQUESTRIAN STYLE.
The GUEST CABIN is located on a 10 acre Horse Ranch, named ALMOST HEAVEN RANCH, which is on Almost Heaven Road, in Boone, North Carolina.
Enjoy the view, horses, wildlife, tranquility, and stars, that will take your breath away!!
Relax at this unique GUEST CABIN, which is a Studio, that is near, but separate from, the Main House. It has a large kitchen, full bath (with tub and shower), a King size bed (sleeps 2), a Queen size air mattress (sleeps 2), a full size stove and oven, a 3/4 refrigerator, toaster oven, and a 50 inch TV, with Roku. It is on one level, and Disability Parking is provided under the deck, which is directly in front of the GUEST CABIN.
The Property and old gray barns, are reminiscent of Watauga County's ByGone era. The stalls are not fancy, but they are functional. Many beautiful horses, including Arabians, Saddlebreds, Friesians, Wild Mustangs, and miniature Horses and Donkeys, have called Almost Heaven Ranch, "Home". If you wish to bring your horses between April 1, 2026 and November, 1, 2026, there may be dry-stalls available, so please check with your Hosts prior to booking.
Although only 10 minutes from the Town of Boone, the property faces north, with incredible long range Blue Ridge Mountain views. There are no lights or sounds from the Town, and you will feel as if you are a million miles away! It is a Stargazer's and nature lover's delight, teaming with wild life, including deer and wild turkey.
No hunting, trapping or loud noises are allowed, because of the wild life and because of the horses, which are privately owned. During the winter, the owners may decide to take the horses off of the mountain, depending on the weather, for their health, safety and protection.
Bring your dogs (no breed restrictions). Never cats.
Don't forget carrots for Blitzen, a miniature horse, who has big blue eyes and who smiles as he greets guests! Actually, you can almost hear him laugh as he runs down the long driveway, which is one of his favorite things to do! This winter, Blitzen, and his best friend, Donner, a miniature donkey (yes, Donner and Blitzen), are currently Snow Birds, and are in Florida. Once they are back, you are more than welcome to feed a couple of carrots to them. Only two each please, due to the sugar content in carrots.
10 min to ASU and downtown Boone; 20 min to Blowing Rock; 15 min to Appalachian ski mountain; 25 min to HawksNest for tubing; and 30 min to Sugar Ski Mountain. Beech Ski Mountain is close to an hour away.

Had an amazing time loved everything about this place quiet clean & beautiful. Love Blitzen & Donner they were so sweet enjoyed feeding them their carrots & taking pictures with them. Definitely would stay here again!😊
Our family had such a beautiful time at The Lodge! The hosts, Steve and Kathleen, were incredibly responsive and kind from start to finish. The place itself is massive, the primary bedroom alone feels like a studio apartment, complete with a jacuzzi tub, a rain shower, and sliding doors that open to a huge patio with a cozy porch swing. We missed seeing the horses because it was so cold, but honestly, the cabin itself was more than worth the stay. One tip: definitely try to drive up the mountain before it gets dark. we arrived around 9pm and missed the entrance, ending up way farther up the mountain than we needed to be, lol!The lodge is only about 10 minutes from Boone, and you have to eat at Betty’s Biscuits. Get there early. it gets packed, but it is sooo worth it.Thank you, Steve and Kathleen, for sharing your beautiful lodge with us. We’ll absolutely be back!
There were beautiful views on the way up to the property. We loved everything about it except the queen size air mattress had a hole in it so the kids had to sleep on the floor. I would also suggest a few more bath towels but other than that they thought of everything for a nice getaway.
My family and I had a wonderful time staying at this property over the kids' spring break. The house is spacious, and we enjoyed the lower floor rec room. The fireplace and hot tub were also a huge plus. The beds were comfortable. Don't expect the house to be perfectly clean. It was good enough where it needed to be (linens, tubs, toilets). We would definitely visit again.
It was peaceful, quiet, relaxing. Didn’t really spend much time there, was gone during days and got back each night around 8. When we where there, it was as it was described. The hosts were very accommodating and responded promptly to any questions.
Clean, quiet and convenient to Blowing Rock and Boone. I wasn't aware the cabin was actually adjoined to the main house... a little separation would have been nice. It lacked an outdoor seating area to enjoy the view or to star gaze. Overall it was more than adequate and the horse, donkey and miniature horse were very friendly. Thanks for having us.
It's a very cozy and clean cabin. Beautiful view out the window. It felt private although the homeowners seemed in their residence adjacent to the cabin. It's secluded but the directions and GPS brought us right to the property.
We had a wonderful weekend here! We got to explore Boone our first day (only about a ten minute drive) and then spent a lovely rainy day back in the guesthouse. Blitzen and Donner were lovely and we so enjoyed being so close to nature! Would love to stay here again!
We loved our overnight stay & wish we could have stayed longer! The cabin was the perfect size for us & our pup. Check in was a brreze The whole place was clean & cozy! Getting to meet Donnor & Blitzen was an added bonus 😁 Would def recommend
Had a lovely time in the mountains. The horses, and Dinner and Blitzen were lovely, and the deer too. The cabin was comfy, and best of all no fireworks to terrorize my Bella. Would definitely recommend.
The one room cabin was very clean. It was unseasonably cold outside but there was a great little space heater which made the stay oh so comfortable. I truly enjoyed being so far up the mountain and away from the busyness of the highway. Thank you for such a nice place to stay relax and sleep.
The guest house was perfect for my husband and I and our 2 small dogs. The cabin was very clean and welcoming and the bed was super comfortable. We enjoyed the view of the horse pasture from our window as we ate breakfast. I have some difficulty walking (use a cane) but had no trouble getting around the area. Our hosts were very gracious, and made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.
This was just what I was looking for! Beautiful views, quiet, birdsong a gentle space. Very clean, very thoughtful hosts, a sweet donkey, Donner, and a playful pony, Blitzen. I was always back before sunset to enjoy the view from the large window... and it is a very winding road which I didn't want to drive in the dark!
But nature's nightlife is better than any town could offer!
Very uncomfortable. The farm was not cared for and groomed as in the pictures. A shambles. The cabin was not as the pictures show. Was worn. The smell was foul, in the walls, floors, chairs pillows etc. there was no service for my phone and my family couldn’t get ahold of me. I felt nauseous and had a headache. I left and had to drive a half a hour away before I could call VRBO because I could NOT stay there. Very bad and unfortunate experience.
Wonderful views n cozy cabin with one bed, not 2, but it worked out and didn’t spoil our stay!
Beautiful! What an experience! Just Best friends making memories! The vistas were breathtaking on the trek up the mountain! We can’t wait to do it again! Thought there’d be two beds, a king and queen… Lucky we are like sisters because there was only one bed,, but it was a huge King size bed so it was like two beds! Didn’t spoil OUR stay, tho. The donkey and little horse were friendly and greeted us at the gate! Hated to leave !
This sweet, quiet cabin in the country was my perfect spot during my leaf peeping in NC. Everything was neat and clean. The property was beautiful and quiet. The stars were amazing! I would have slept outside if I'd had a warm sleeping bag. I felt very safe and couldn't have been happier.
Such a hidden gem of a property! We felt right at home staying at the cottage at Almost Heaven. The horses were so sweet and made our stay extra special. We would definitely come back again!
