The Quarryman's Home
The Quarryman's home was built in Bloomington in 1930. The original charm remains with the home, including the working fireplace, the natural woodwork and antique hardware. The bright home is quiet & private, although very close to town & walking trails. The decor is rustic, modern, & includes treasures from walks in the woods & travels abroad. The Quarryman's Home is ideal for those whom appreciate the details & desire a personalized stay. It is clean, thoughtfully appointed, & cozy.
The inside communal spaces are built to invite conversation and relaxation with plenty of comfy places to sit, books to read, and an antique dinner table for gathering. The outside fire pit or the front porch swing is a favorite place to sit and watch the sky. The library consists of contemporary novels and photographic monographs that you could spend an afternoon flipping through.
Each bedroom is spacious, private, and outfitted with luxe bedding, lots of pillows, and has at least one window. A cursive typewriter sits in the front bedroom. Built-in shelves provide lots of bedtime reading options. Ceiling fans keep the air moving. Please note that one bedroom has a lofted bed. You can access the bed from stairs, but it is a little funky to manage. It is not an area for small children or boozers to sleep upon. There are two sofas in my home- both are comfortable sleep spots, but neither are pull-out style sofas with proper mattresses. Extra sheets, blankies, and pillows are provided.
The kitchen is outfitted with better than basic cooking necessities, including super sharp knives, Le Creuset pots, pans, vintage cast iron, handmade ceramic mugs, and enough dinnerware to feed a small army. The kitchen also has a KitchenAid stand mixer, a Cuisinart food processor & a Breville juicer. The gas range is delightful to cook upon. A microwave sits in the pantry for those of y'all non-cookers.
The garden beds produce tomatoes, herbs, and cucumbers in season. Potted herbs and plants sit around the house in the winter. An apple tree, pear tree, and mulberry tree sit on the property along with concord grape vines and blackberry bushes, asparagus, and a strawberry patch.
The Quarryman's Home is a perfect respite from the everyday.
Longer stays in my home are negotiable and welcomed.
Well-behaved pets are welcomed into the space, as I understand how important it is to have a comfortable place to sleep while traveling with an animal in-tow. I have a fully fenced in back yard that easily accommodates pets. Pet visitors must be pre-approved and they incur an additional fee due to the additional cleaning time that is required. Pet rules are basic "good human rules", and are: 1.) no pets on the furniture or bedding 2.) do not leave your pet alone in the house unless it is crated 3.) you are responsible for any damage your pet does to my home (scratches on doors, major floor damage, etc).
The Quarryman's home is located in the Clear Creek neighborhood of Bloomington. It is just a short walk to a local pizza parlor and ice cream shop. Additionally, there is a Kroger grocery 1 minute away. Great walking trails are 1/2 mile from the house. The largest lake in Indiana is a 6 minute drive southeast. And downtown Bloomington is just a few miles north. The IU campus is a quick and direct drive northeast. Uber and Lyft rides into town are inexpensive and quick. Bring your bike and cycle directly into town via the Clear Creek Trail and the B-Line Walking Trail.
My home is situated on a private half acre lot with a short driveway that accommodates a maximum of 4-6 vehicles.
I do require guests to buy property damage since VRBO does not protect hosts. If there are any questions about insurance, just reach out.

We had a great stay here! I loved seeing the family photos and heirlooms all around. Very comfortable and had everything we needed. The neighborhood was very quiet as well. Alexis was a great and thoughtful host, leaving me a special note for my birthday. Would stay again!
We enjoyed our stay. The home has a lot of character and charm. The property owner is fantastic and the communication with her was great. The home is near some great hiking/biking trails, which we really enjoyed. The proximity to Kroger was nice too.
The Quarryman's Home is absolutely charming, with original floors and beautiful woodwork. Alexis has thought of every single detail, from a stocked kitchen to the thoughtful book collection in every room. We've never felt more at-home in a Vrbo stay. Great location is less than a 10 minute drive from the heart of IU. Thank you again, Alexis!
This cozy home was easy to get to and provided plenty of room for 6 people. It may be a little farther from the IU campus but it makes up for the short drive with charm, comfort, hospitality and convenience. Alexis was easy to communicate with and offered several helpful tips and tricks whenever we needed anything. The house’s charm was outmatched to any other VRBO I’d stayed in and it even offered 2 spacious desk work spaces with one of those spaces housing some arts and craft supplies ❤️. The front porch swing was a wonderful morning space and the added kitchen supplies (including a coffee grinder) made things just a little more cozy. We would highly recommend staying here.
The host was so kind and helpful! The house is wonderful and clean! Such a great place to stay! Uber away from IU campus and to all the restaurants. We had a great experience.
This was the cutest house ever ….it had everything we needed and more A quick drive to the university …so quaint and so personalized we will definitely be back …the host could not do enough to make our stay more perfect Thank you again for covering every detail and more
We so enjoyed our stay. Alexis' place was fun and convenient to our gathering. Alexis has so many interesting and beautiful objects and photos. We had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Alexis’ home is adorable and perfect for a Bloomington stay. We brought our yellow lab with us, and the backyard was perfect for her to run around. The kitchen was already well stocked with basics. Alexis leaves a binder full of suggestions for places to visit or order from. Overall we had a great stay and will return 🙂 Thanks Alexis!
I needed a place for out of town family to stay. Basically we just needed a place for people to sleep. They spent their days at graduation, etc. This worked great. It was clean, the beds were comfortable. It had a lot of funky charm. Worked great for us.
While the home is about 3 miles away from campus, anything that isn't directly on campus is a drive anyway. The location gave us a sense of being in the country. There's a beautiful fenced in back yard and a front-porch swing for coffee and chats. The inside of the home is quaint and impeccably maintained. We felt like welcomed guests staying at friends house, and we respected it as such. The owner was helpful and easy to communicate with.
The house is very nice and clean and Alexis is a wonderful gracious host. Stocked the house with so many thoughtful snacks and other items. I want to mention that there are only two queen beds. The double bed is in the loft is not easily accessible so its not for everyone. There are no sofa beds. The sofas are sofas and one is too small for any adult or really anyone but a small child to sleep on. We felt the house most comfotortably sleeps 4 adults and then maybe two smaller children or someone who doesn't care about sleeping on a sofa. The loft may be good for younger teenagers. That all being said, it was a lovely home and we enjoyed our time there.

Annual girls weekend
The house is adorable and the beds were comfortable. The champagne and cheese were a very nice gesture. We didn't use the loft because we felt it was unsafe to climb the ladder with no hand rail. We felt the description of the location being "close to downtown" sounded like it was more within walking distance. It would be nice to have some outdoor lighting on the deck, more seating and perhaps an umbrella for some shade. We missed the fact that there was to no television in the amenities, but it would be nice to add one someday. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
We stayed here for a weekend visit with our IU student. The home is so charming and welcoming, and the location convenient to the IU campus. The beds were so comfortable, my aunt who was with us said it was the best night's sleep she has had in years! Alexis goes above and beyond to provide little special touches to make the stay memorable. We loved it!
Our neighbors/best friends, my husband and I, escaped to Bloomington for a long weekend and selected this property. We couldn't have been more pleased! We laughed, visited great restaurants in town and shops in Nashville, hiked in the State Park, played cards, enjoyed a bonfire in the firepit, and created many wonderful memories. A great place to stay is one that doesn't seem to fight you, complicate your time away or get in your way. That was Quarryman's Home. Thank you, Alexis. We will be back!

Old Charm
We were disappointed as the exterior is overgrown and neglected. Hard to sit outside due to tons of insects from overgrown grass and shrubbery. Should not be listed as able to sleep 8, as the loft is extremely dangerous to access and the other 2 people would have to sleep on couches. Pictures and description need to be updated. Damaged peach tree in driveway, which no one has cleaned up all the pits and fallen peaches have attracted bees galore. Also should specify no TV. Lighting inside is very dim in dining room so it was hard to play games.
Beautiful house on a quiet lot. We had our dog with us so enjoyed being able to bring her - the yard is fenced however not entirely secured in a spot and we did have a wildlife visit (groundhog and late at night raccoons) and our dog finds these too irresistible to leave be so she wasn’t allowed off leash out back anyway :). Still a good yard to be able to walk her for breaks at night - plus location was very close to good walking trails. Great stocked kitchen as well - if we had stayed longer and hadn’t been eating out so much I definitely would enjoy cooking in it. Most VRBO locations we’ve stayed haven’t had much to use for cooking so that was great.
My family and I really enjoyed staying at this property. It is in a great location, close enough to campus to be convenient but far enough away to be quiet. Everything about the house is comfortable and nice. The house as well equipped andWe did not need to bring anything. Thank you Alexis!
This home was perfect for us to visit our college student and also allow for her to have some much needed snuggle time with her dog:-). We will definitely be back!
This was just what we needed to get away, unplug and relax for a few days. Location was easy to find. Home was immaculately clean. Owner was easy to work with. Would highly recommend has a good place to relax, unwind and unplug.
