The Space:
Myrtle Cottage is a real oasis at the foot of Hambledon Hill with peaceful views of nature all around. Whether you’re in search of a slow-paced restorative retreat or an action-packed countryside adventure, this brand-new cottage welcomes you to enjoy it with ease and comfort. There is a stunning garden which the cottage overlooks. On warm days, swing gently from your hanging chair or dine together alfresco style.
Inside, the cottage is as beautiful as it is on the outside. Find spacious rooms in an open-plan setting, with huge bi-fold doors that flood the space with light. The contemporary kitchen has everything you need to cook up hearty holiday meals, and a coffee machine ensures you’re never without your morning cup. When the weather turns, gather around the dining table for feasts into the night or settle into the sofas (there’s almost one for everyone) while your toes warm up by the fire.
Upstairs are two thoughtfully-decorated bedrooms that promise a good night’s sleep. The large king-size master boasts its own lounge area with beautiful views out over the trees. Meanwhile, next door, a second double bedroom has a private balcony where you enjoy elevated views over the garden. As well as a WC downstairs, there’s an additional stylish family bathroom with a luxurious free-standing bath and walk-in shower.

Guests have access to the whole property and garden. Please note the garden isn't enclosed so dogs could escape if not on a lead.

Myrtle Cottage is located at the base of Hambledon Hill, a beautiful National Trust site in North Dorset with walking trails in abundance. This ancient hillfort and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers fantastic hikes with Iron Age earthworks and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Although a small village, Child Okeford village has everything you need within walking distance: a Spar convenience store, as well as two lively pubs, an organic farm shop and an organic cafe/ restaurant.
You’re perfectly situated to explore all that North Dorset and Cranborne Chase have to offer, from the quintessential honey-coloured villages to cycling trails, galleries, walks and pubs. The historic market town of Shaftesbury is only a 15-minute drive. The iconic Gold Hill (which you may remember from the famous Hovis advert) offers a picturesque vantage point to view quintessential architecture to a backdrop of stunning countryside views. But it's not just about the views, the town dates back to Saxon times when the settlement was originally built because of the commanding position over the surrounding area. So expect museums, ancient pubs, quirky architecture, and an array of cafes and curio shops.
Located a few miles away, the market town of Sturminster Newton offers a range of attractions. You can visit the Sturminster Newton Mill, a working watermill that dates back to the 17th century, or explore the town's historic buildings and quaint streets. The town also hosts regular farmers' markets and other community events.
The picturesque Georgian town of Blandford Forum is just a 15-minute drive away: boasting peaceful riverside walks, stunning architecture, a market place and a brewery. Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of the cottage, we would recommend bringing a car for your stay. There is free, private parking for vehicles on the shared driveway.
The property also has an EV charger on site which is available for use at a cost of £35/charge.
Other Things to Note:
Please note, the formal garden is just a view from the cottage and is not part of the property.
The garden to the property is not enclosed so best to keep dogs on leads to avoid them escaping.
We kindly as that you ensure the sofa covers are left on the sofa during your stay.
A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog on the following conditions:
- They are not left in the property unattended
- They are not permitted on the soft furnishings, including beds. If there is evidence of dogs having been in the beds or on the sofa's we reserve the right to charge for new bed linen and upholstery cleaning
- Their waste is cleaned up after in the garden
The BBQ is available for use from April to October.
