Four Points Flex by Sheraton Dundee
10/10 Excellent
"The room was spacious, clean fresh with open aspects to the railway track from the window. Bed was comfortable with accessible light switches with directional side lights and mood light for around the room. Shower room was a dream. Rain fall shower head combined with the hand held shower head had a phenomenal flow of steady pressurised water..Bedding and towels were well laundered and felt brand new. The housekeeping staff were efficient and diligent at their duties. Working away fastidiously and stealthily having the rooms prepared on return from visiting the sights and spots in the city. On arrival and throughout the reception staff and bar staff were affable, welcoming, cool and casual with a professional and knowledgeable finesse that was much appreciated during our stay. On arriving, especially by train it’s quite astonishing how close getting off the train from viewing the beautiful Scottish countryside and check in takes. Basically checked into the room from train to reception to room in minutes. There’s also the added bonus of a Tesco extra being directly below the hotel for easy access. In fact the actual train station is beautiful as well, large bright and airy with the occasional person having a wee go on the piano situated inside. For a wee city break I would definitely give Dundee a go. Lovely bars and restaurants, indoor shopping centre with H&M and the usual British High street stores. Great shopping experience. We also visited a hidden bar called Draffens. "

Fonab Castle Hotel & Spa
8/10 Good
"Lovely views. Food gorgeous . Spa area disappointing. Pool area small and dull, not great lighting . The steam room was totally dark, no lights working! Area where steam room and sauna was was freezing. Odd area with two couches in a very large room. This would be lovely with lots of comfy seating, cushions, nice lighting so it could be used to relax in, read in, etc. Such a waste of space. However, I had the best massage that I’ve ever had…and I’ve had a lot!…from Megan. On our second day , we went for a walk into Pitlochry after breakfast then I wanted to sit in the lounge area of the hotel and read my book for the rest of the morning, early afternoon. The lounge are was closed until 2.30pm! How weird. The only place to sit was in the restaurant. Not at all what I would expect from a 5 star hotel to not have a comfy seating area open at all times. Another thing I have definitely never had to do in a 5 star hotel is pay for a latte our cappuccino at breakfast. Even at 4 star or a recent B and B we stayed at, this was included in the hot drink choice at breakfast. All in all we enjoyed our trip but won’t be back as have stayed in other spa hotels that have a much better spa…Stobo and Roxburghe Schloss to name two. "

Malmaison Dundee

"Enjoyed the stay. Room was very good. A little dated. Room service not so good. Never topped up coffee milk etc. sundries which you had to pay for were missing which could have lead to being charged for something we did not have. Had to remind reception twice of this. But would stop there again as overall experience was good "

Coylumbridge Resort Hotel
6/10 Okay
"Chose hotel due to proximity to hills. Was competitively priced compared to other hotels.
Staff very welcoming and friendly, evening meals at bar were very good as was cooked breakfast.
Sadly the two rooms booked were not to standard. One room tv did not have signal and shower did not get warm on both days. Other room had a strange smell, possibly drainage or septic tank?
Had so much potential but will have to look elsewhere next visit."

Dunkeld House Hotel
8/10 Good
"We had a junior suite overlooking the river which was nice enough, we thought the bathroom required an update. No towel heating rail, no underfloor heating so it was cold. Perhaps we were spoiled the year before as we stayed in The Hermitage suite which was superb, far preferred it however I expect more expensive.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed the swimming pool.
The breakfast was excellent and the evening meal was good, however I think there could have been more choices in the main meals menu."
