Indoor and outdoor activities ensure excitement never ends in this district, no matter the weather. Have ice cream on the pier and watch the winter lights go on.

A visit to South Shore offers thrilling rides and activities just outside the city centre. Let kids explore the vast amusement parks and the range of activities centred on one of Blackpool’s three impressive piers. Bring the whole family to this beachside children’s playground.

Wander along the iconic South Pier and relax in the bar, with a beer garden spilling onto the jetty. Admire stunning views of the water from the top of the Sky Coaster ride that swings from up high in the sky, as part of the pier’s Adrenaline Zone. Let the little ones play on the smaller rides of the Children’s Rides area.

Just a bit inland, spend an afternoon in the famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach, which has 125 thrilling rides, attractions and shows. Attend ice extravaganzas and children’s entertainment displays in the Pleasure Beach Arena.

Race against your friends on a large circuit in the Karting 2000 Raceway. In cold or wet weather, the indoor Sandcastle Waterpark ensures the excitement continues, with slides and other fun features.

Learn about some of the strangest facts and admire the bizarre installations in the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum. Adults will enjoy a bit of gambling with the slot machines and tables of the Grosvenor Casino Blackpool. Come for a traditional English meal in the café of the historic Solaris Centre, which was built as a solarium in 1941.

Arrive in early September for the exciting Blackpool Illuminations, when celebrities switch on the lights that are wrapped around all types of art installations, buildings and vehicles.

This neighbourhood stands between the city centre and Blackpool Airport. Take the train to the Blackpool South or Blackpool Pleasure Beach railway stops. You can also ride the tram to the South Pier stop. While in the city, make sure to visit the neighboring Blackpool City Centre and North Shore areas.

South Shore continues Blackpool’s rich tradition of coastal fun and activities.
