"We stayed in Cabin 34 while attending Bemidji State University graduation, and this was easily one of the worst lodging experiences we’ve ever had. Do not stay here unless you are prepared for filthy conditions, broken amenities, and complete lack of quality control. The pull-out couch bedding was stuffed behind the Murphy bed, and the area behind it was absolutely disgusting — peeling walls, heavy dust buildup, and obvious lack of cleaning. It was so unsanitary that I went out and purchased my own sheets and blankets rather than use what was provided. The maintenance issues were unacceptable. The toilet partially sank into the floor when you sat down, and then stopped flushing entirely in the middle of the night because the handle jammed. The fireplace did not work. The ceiling fan/light fixture was missing its cover and was caked in dust. We also had to turn the heat off overnight because a strong burning or “hot electrical” smell started coming through the vents. The bathroom was equally frustrating. The shower only produced scalding hot water, making it impossible to shower properly, so we ended up washing our hair in the sink. The bathroom door also would not lock. By the end of the stay, the room felt so dirty and poorly maintained that we avoided touching most surfaces altogether. Breakfast was no better. One of the yogurts available to guests had expired the previous month, which only reinforced the complete lack of attention to cleanliness and guest safety. "

"This is quite the nice motel. There needs to be some major updating, but that can be quite expensive. However, care and cleanliness is most important, and this place has both. We tend to be picky to protect our health, and Northwood Inn and Suites was great in that respect. Thank you for a good night's sleep! Only needed 1 tv remote, AND the tv worked!! One last item... GREAT hot water AND water pressure."

"Bath tub was bad. Dark brown towels and wash cloths to hide dirt. Rust stains, bad water temperature control. I had to stand outside in 20F weather and call to "check in". "

"This was our annual anniversary getaway and it was amazing. The house is very clean, beds are comfortable, kitchen has practically everything you need. The views are amazing! On the least side you get to see the sunrise over the water and in the west you get to see the sunset over the water. There are Eagles out and about the lake, a couple of times they landed in the tree right outside the cabin. The fishing on the lake is very good, we brought our fishing kayaks with us, which we launched from our beach and explored the lake. We caught fish everyday we were able to get on the lake. (Windy a couple days and couldn’t get out) If you go in the fall, the trees when they turn colors are gorgeous! I took so many pictures! We will be going back next year, we haven’t decided if we are taking the kids or going back for our anniversary again. We went to a bait shop in Bemidji, and the guys there were very helpful on what bait to use since the season was changing. "
