The property was nice looking and spacious. It’s perfectly sized for large families to gather during holidays . However, the amount of stairs was overwhelming, but I suppose it’s what you get with a 6 bedroom home. It’s doable!I had some dissatisfaction with safety, privacy, and necessities. The dinner table chairs had nails sticking out which scratched peoples legs and tore clothing while trying to sit or stand. The bbq grill was broken with an empty propane tank. The entire stove caused so much problems with cooking due to insufficient flame out of all bays. There were no rags or table cloths to wipe the table after meals. There was no laundry detergent, none of the restrooms had locks on the doors, the WiFi was bad and would constantly cut out.
House was really nice and a great little getaway with some friends. Would be nice if there were vents or heaters in some of the rooms on the second floor as it does get cold in there. Other than that, had a great time and house was great.
It was AWESOME! Didn’t have any issues with property. The dishwasher was the only thing that did not work. Everything was great!

Poor Communication, no follow up or follow through! Very good at excuses and not getting back to you
Beautiful house, beautiful location!!!But Both microwaves did not work , oven was dirty, four of the televisions didn’t work. Refrigerator was missing several Drawers and compartments…. etc…..Made several calls and several attempts to contact the company and owner. Continuously made excuses on why they did not answer or respond. I would not rent from them. Thank you, Alan.
Worst experience, and total disregard for safety by the host
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.. Once the owner has your money they will stop responding to you. Feel free to reach out directly to me and I can show you all the screen shots of no responses as well as pictures of the condition of the house. We were looking forward to a trip in the mountains but knew a storm was coming in so we asked about heat as well as specifically asking about snow shovels to which we never got a response. We also asked about rescheduling or cancelling due to record snow and what would happen if the roads got closed, finally got a voicemail the day before our trip saying they were to remain open and there would be no option other than to forfeit the money, but if we had any questions to call back in a minute before they were leaving the office. After feeling like we had no options we decided to go anyways. We hardly made it up the unplowed street and climbed up the unplowed stairs. Inside we find wires sticking out of the wall where the thermostat should have been, so there was NO heat upstairs and the fireplaces did not work. We called immediately to a 24 hour help line and were told that no one could come out because the road conditions and then hung up on trying to find out options. Having elderly and young kids now stuck in a house with no heat in a snow storm on a street that isnt plowed we decided to drive back home as we did not want to get stuck up there. It wasnt til the next late afternoon they offered a different house after we left already.

Unlivable conditions and failed to take immediate action
My group checked in Friday 3/24/23 afternoon around 5pm for a two night stay. Check-in required going to an agency to do an in person check-in. In person checkout was not required. As soon as we entered the home, the house was freezing. I called the number that was given on the directions for help, and no one came to help turn on the heat. We had three young children and 12 adults. We had to go out and buy wood to try and warm up the upstairs living room/dining room area, but it was still extremely cold. We ended up having to bring everyone to the lower ground floor where the table games and two of the rooms with the bunk beds were, to keep warm. We ended up all sleeping downstairs wherever we could find space on the sofa, and floor. We couldn’t even sleep comfortably or use the rooms that we paid for, due to the unlivable conditions with no heat upstairs for 4 of the rooms. Both master bedrooms and the two rooms with the queen beds were too cold to sleep in. After multiple messages, the host finally responded and someone finally came out the following day and turned on the power breaker. We finally had heat on for the second night. I’ve asked about possibly getting some type of reimbursement due to the living conditions of our first night, but no response.
There were multiple mouse traps in the garage, so we were also a bit turned off by those, and there was no WiFi, so we couldn’t use the TVs. Some people in my group had work to do, so we had to tether our own internet from our phones. The basic necessity of ensuring that the heat was working, should have been addressed the first night, especially because we had young children with us.

Amazing property but poor maintenance
My family has stayed at this house twice over President’s Day weekend (this year and last). It is an amazing property w/an absolutely unbeatable location. You can walk to the village & there is sledding on a public space right behind the house. The location literally could not be improved upon.
The property looks clean & well maintained; the first year there were only minor plumbing issues; toilets would run if you didn’t jiggle the handles. Given how nice the house & how ideal the location, I made a note of the address & booked early this year.
This year was a whole different story. The house still looked pretty clean & well maintained, but the plumbing was a disaster. When we got there, we found a notice from the water department that the water had been turned off because it was a 2nd notice of excessive usage. When I called 5 Star Property, they first said, “Oh maybe it’s an old notice, are you sure the water is actually off?” Well yes, it was off, but clearly this is an ongoing issue with this property or they would not have thought it might be an old notice! So they said they’d send a plumber within a couple of hours. When I called the water department, they told me that the amount of water leaking was a lot, and also that, in their opinion, 5 Star Property Managers had an ongoing problem with issues like this. When the plumber arrived, he said the excessive usage was caused by a tap being left on, but other than that, there was one toilet we needed to watch because it might run. He also mentioned that after our house call, he had 2 more jobs on 5 Star Properties. He also said he was going to tell them they needed to replace some toilets on this property. Again, this points to the fact that there are ongoing plumbing maintenance issues....this wasn’t a “one off” occurrence.
We stayed there over the weekend, but found that the property had massive plumbing issues. Virtually every toilet required jiggling of the handle to keep it from continuing to run. But the worst was the second master suite. It leaked so much, we had to keep it turned off except for flushing & it STILL leaked all over the floor.
When I contacted 5 Star about the issues, I got a very nice reply saying they’d look into what happened, but then nothing. I’ve NEVER left a bad review before now. This is a premier property (for which they charge premium prices). If I were the owner, I’d be looking for a new property manager.
This property did not let down. Its in an amazing location, at the end of a road over looking the big bear village. It stands pretty much by itself at the end of a road with the only other property being a rental as well. Since it was empty we pretty much had seclusion for the whole trip. The pictures don't do this place justice. I was so blown away by the size of the house. The garage can hold 4 sedans comfortably and the upstairs living room is massive. It's well stocked with cookware and glass wear for all types of cooking.
Pros:
Amazing location.
big garage
great heater
hot tub has a nice Mountain View
beds were good
Master bedroom has LOTS of space
Very nice cookware
cons
There were a few lights out, but nothing major
Some cracked tile on a staircase
the driveway is not friendly to lowered cars, but any regular height car should be fine.
Heater can cook you out if you don't get it properly. I'd say 66 to 68 is the prefect range for cold weekends. If not then it spend so much time getting warm that the whole room gets really hot. (it was 25 degrees on the coldest night when I went)
This isn't really a con, just kinda thought I'd mention it, the upstairs heater thermostat was hidden behind a fake tree on the staircase, but we found it after looking for a little bit.
All in all this place was amazing and I will definitely stay here again.
the location is great but there are a few things this place needs since the price per night is very high, patio glass doors difficult to lock, only one wine glass, no coffee filters, top oven doesnot work, lots of broken tile at the foot of stairs, railing in outdoor access is rough and peeling, the rec room had one cracked ping pong ball, the table tennis paddels were junk, the pool cues are junk, adjacent to the dining table the wall looked like someone sprayed it with soda, need to be cleaned, the spa was very good, as was the garage space for parking, the house needs some sprucing up, we did have a good time,

has a lot of potential......lacks up keep
Overall the company we had made our trip! The property itself was okay....... I'm guessing because on the outside it looks amazing but on the inside and when actually using the appliances and not to mention the (downstairs beds were very uncomfortable) I really think then yes it would have been worth the money but because we paid a hefty price for 3 nights, needless to say I would not recommend staying here.
A bit disappointing!!!!! it sucks that a somewhat nice property is not kept up at all. Too bad! but in the end I know people read reviews. I only wish management would take that in to account!!!! But highly doubt it. So if you do book this property. Just remember, I told you so!!!!
House is nice and spacious and in a terrific location with close proximity to the village. With being the last house on the street, it butts up directly to trail heads to enjoy nature. It even boasts a lake view! I read some of the reviews and always get turned off by people complaining, however, the downstairs couch truly needs replaced. This home is nice and hearty and can withstand foot traffic and has pretty much everything one might need on vacation (except most homes keep some stock of cooking supplies, be prepared to bring any oil, spices, salt, coffee filters, etc) The hot tub is a bit slow to heat up but worked fine once we got it going and was very relaxing to enjoy while staring at unobstructed view of the beautiful mountain. Overall, I would definitely stay here again! Thanks for sharing your lovely home with my family!

Not the most comfortable stay
Area is nice, spacious. Kitchen lacked certain things we needed. Furniture is old. Some people in the group got bed bug bites. I couldn’t sit on couches thinking I would get bit. Mouse was found running around inside the house. I messaged owner a month before our stay to see if some of the things on the reviews were fixed but didn’t here from him. Probably wouldn’t stay here again.
Awesome location and awesome great room. However, pull out bed in the game room broke. Extra cot broke. Low on glassware and cups. No cushions for outdoor chairs. Lots of things could be improved but we still had a fantastic time.
Great location and very spacious. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Perfect location where we were able to watch the fireworks right from our balcony. Only negative is the plumbing in the kitchen sink and one of the bathroom sinks are slow to drain. The couch and sofa sets old, you can see the wear and tear. Overall, we’d stay here again.
We had a great week staying here! The home was beautiful, with lots of space. The kitchen was great for cooking for our large group. Our group had a lot of children, so we loved that they had a hang out area in the basement. The location was perfect - close to main street and the alpine slides, a gorgeous view of the lake, and a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen needs a can opener and scissors. The home does not have AC, as far as we could tell. It was roasting when we first arrived, but once we opened the windows, it cooled down. It was in the 90s while we were there. We would definitely stay here again.
Great location, Big House, AWESOME views.,.needs TLC
Loved this house, and everyone enjoyed their stays. The Views were spectacular, the home was HUGE. Everyone got a comfortable room, and the fact that there is a game room was just an amazing kicker! SO we all had a great time, and fit wonderfully in the common areas. Id love to stay here again, but definitely hope it's cleaner.
The home does need some TLC though because you can tell its been used a lot. A number of tiles on the staircase are broken (don't walk barefoot), the carpets are worn out and black/stained in parts. A lot of the windows in the common areas were quite dirty and unwashed.
We had a couple families stay during a ski trip. Layout of the house worked really well with adults and teens. Lots of space, we did not feel like we were on top of each other. We all said we would stay here again.
We were pleasantly surprised with the views and how private the cabin was, The photos don’t do it justice. The cabin is the last house on the street so it feels very secluded. we will definitely be coming back.
Overall house was awesome, would stay again. Many stairs throughout house. House had a nice view. Sink and one of the bathrooms just had a plumbing issue, not a big deal. Thanks again!!
