Everything was great except a few important things
The staff were great. Super helpful and quick to answer my questions. The place itself was pleasant. A few complaints: mattress was terrible, shower pressure was terrible, no hot pads in the kitchen.
Overall a great location and excellent customer service.
Second time staying here. The master bedroom is extremely comfortable. The downstairs bedrooms: mattresses extremely uncomfortable. Can feel springs poking into our backs. The downstairs beds squeak if even just turning over. Woke up so sore. The customer service is excellent. Would be nice to have a TV in both of the downstairs bedrooms. The fan in the room with the bunk beds rattles and had to be turned off. Amenities are great though. The mattresses however: ouch.
This is an excellent house located really close to the slopes. Our family was very happy with the selection, as we had 2 kids (6 and 5) and it was very convenient to go back to the house in the middle of the day to have lunch and get some rest. The house is very well maintained and very cozy and comfortable. The reasons why I did not give a 5 star rating may seem trivial, but worth mentioning.- not enough knives for 8 people to eat at the same time;- no placemats, so there is a risk of ruining the wooden table;- only one kitchen towel, so it makes it hard to manage cooking and cleaning at the same time;- now, for the most important. The dishwasher needs to be deep cleaned ASAP. The dishes were coming out as dirty as they went in and, when I looked inside, the bottom filter was very dirty, so we ended up hand washing (or rewashing) most of the dishes. Which makes my earlier point of only one kitchen towel a little more relevant.
The host was excellent, and AvantStay is very professional in what they do. The cabin was clean and well maintained, with clear instructions inside for cooking, the fireplace, trash, etc. They also checked in regularly via text and through their app, which was a nice touch. The only downside specific to this cabin is that it hasn’t been remodeled like some of the other listings, so don’t expect brand-new furniture or a trendy interior design. Also the bedroom bed in downstairs is a bit small (queen) and close to kids bunk bed room, so decide who gets that room by drawing lots.:) But that said, it’s extremely close to Snow Valley—literally a 2-minute walk—which made everything incredibly easy for us and the kids.I would definitely recommend this place for a family ski trip. However, if you’re planning a summer stay or a weekend getaway without skiing, I’d probably choose a more modern or “cooler” cabin.
This cabin was walking distance to Snow Summit. Very clean and had everything we needed. Beds were extremely comfortable with quiet evenings so we slept well. We had a terrific time and will definitely be staying here again.
We had the best time!! The location of this property and it’s cleanliness was perfection. It had everything we could have wanted or needed. We would definitely like to come back and enjoy this little piece of heaven amongst the snow and Mountain View’s.
Great location and set up. We enjoyed our he games, foosball table, and hot tub. We had a few small glitches ( grill didn’t work, etc) but the management was responsive.
Great for 1-2 families with a close location to the slopes ;)
It was such a great experience. Great communication with property owner. Had a complete blast! The location was spectacular. Will definitely want to do this every year!
Great and spacious property! cannot beat the location!!!! We were able to get in touch with someone very quickly if needed. we had a wonderful Xmas!!!!!!
Layout worked great for two small families. Hot tub was perfect and property managers were very communicative. Had an issue with a fire alarm battery overnight and the hot tub temperature one day, but both were addressed promptly. Would definitely stay here again!
Located a few steps from Snow Summit Lodge and lifts, this location was stellar! The house was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Check-in was a bit weird but I think that’s mostly due to the rules/regulations of the city. Great stay and would do it again!
Overall the stay was great. We had a few hiccups. Needed some kitchen basics and the spa cleaner turned down the temperature of the hot tub. When the teens came back from a day of snowboarding it was cold. The management company was quick to respond but water takes time to heat up. They need to fix the fan in the about the bedroom because in the master, you hear it click all night long if it is left on. We would rent again.

Wasn't as clean as expected.
Overall was okay, just issue with what was expected and showed in pictures wasn't what was there.
Great experience. Took a client to Big Bear to ski snow summit. Love the proximity to the mountain. Check-in process could have been improved. Had to reach out many times to get instructions to enter the unit. Made for an anxious day as we were coming up at night and had no other place to stay. Got instructions about an hour before we made it to the cabin. One other small thing was the coffee pot was cracked so had to get coffee at Starbucks. Outside of that, all good.

Convenient Location
The location is walking distance to Snow Summit which is great. The road is busy, but you can just walk to the lifts. The house was not very clean when we arrived and smelled badly of cigarette smoke. The communication with the rental agency was difficult because there was always a different person contacting you and then there was no follow through. The hot tub had not been cleaned and no one was sent out. Overall, it was fine and there was a lot of room, but we would not stay again and not recommend this property. Especially because the cleaning fee was so high and the house was dirty.

The cabin is beautiful and very comfortable and fit 6 adults nicely
The check in process was confusing and complicated when it didn’t need to be. The jacuzzi broke twice so only used it 2 days out of 5. The shower head in the master needed replacing and was the second day. There was a flood in the carpet at the foyer from recent rains. The next day they had a guy with a rug doctor and someone to fix and clean the jacuzzi. The kitchen was I’ll equipped for anyone to cook meals which we did everyday. It’s on a very busy street which I guess we should have guessed being it’s on Summit Blvd and at the base of Snow Summit. We did not know it has a lot of traffic due to mountain bikers. However, we really enjoyed our stay with our family of 6 adults. We played board games that were offered. Played corn hole in the back which we brought. Should be offered. And had great meals around the large, family style table. I would not rent this cabin again due to the traffic noise, jacuzzi issues, water pressure and I’ll equipped kitchen. But we made the best of it. AvantStay who is the management did reply quickly but there is a big difference between a management company running a vacation rental vs a family. I’ll choose a family vacation rental everytime because they care and use it themselves so it’s well equipped and spa like. This was not that!

This property is in a great location and very comfortable.
Actually renting this place was somewhat of a nightmare. We had a originally booked a weekend in February for skiing, however due to a state of emergency being declared in the area and all roads being closed, we were not able to access the property. The property would not consider a refund even though hotels and rental agencies (they won't let you even mention. The other one in your review) were all giving refunds . I contacted VRBO who got them to agree to reschedule then they told us we had to reschedule within 30 days and the only dates they had open were weekdays. Vrbo got them to agree to extend that for 60 days, which still wasn't ideal. They wouldn't even let us chose another property that was available at a time that worked for us. When we finally got to the check in process it took several emails and texts because they first told us we had a 2 hour window during which we had to check in in person. When I told them we wouldn't be arriving by the 6pm time their office closed, they did send me a code to access the property, but not the address. That took another several messages in which they kept telling me I had to check in in person and fill out some form that I had already filled out. And then when we did arrive at 11pm at night the code to the door didn't work, and there were no street numbers on the house, so we had to guess based on pictures, and the house next door is identical.
All in all, the place is great once you finally get in. The property management company AvantStay is a nightmare. Having to take our ski trip after the winter snow was done and well into slushy spring skiing was a bummer. Had they just let us rent a different place earlier in the season it would have been a lot better
Overall we had a great time. We ran into a small snag with check in but the management team handled the issue quickly and refunded our early check in. On the first night we came home to no hot water (tripped breaker) but like the issue with check in the management team sent someone to fix the issue and it was taken care of in about 20 minutes.
The cabin was clean when we arrived, the instructions for the heater, and hot tub were posted and easy to understand, the kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and utensils. The only things that could be added as a convenience would be salt, refills for the seasoning tower and cooking spray. Other than that I was satisfied with the set up and there was list on the refrigerator of the local stores to pick up anything I needed.
The location was the reason I booked the Jackhorn, we're a family seven with teens and small children. Our older kids were able to walk to and from the cabin after snowboarding while I was able to play in the backyard snow with the little kids. Later my husband and I were able to hit the slopes together while the kids watched movies. It's literally a 2 minute walk to Snow Summit.
We had a great family weekend, and our kids are happy!
