"An absolute gem of a hotel right in the heart of the "old town" area near Kloof Street. Beautiful colonial style design with fantastic local artwork throughout, amazing (cool) pool, honesty bar, secure on street parking (security watchmen at all times) and the most amazing helpful staff I've ever had at a hotel - emails and information on things to do, restaurants etc was outstanding. A really brilliant hotel in every way!"

"J'ai été très heureux de mon choix de Hippo Boutique Hotel. Il est situé tout près de Kloof St, rue assez animée, mais un peu en retrait. La chambre était très spacieuse, bien équipée, impeccable. Le personnel était extrêmement aimable et serviable. Il n'y a pas de restaurant, mais pour déjeuner l'hôtel offre des coupons pour des cafés des environs, comme l'excellent Café Sofi en face. Il faut sonner et monter un étage pour arriver à la réception 24h. Au final, le rapport qualité-prix est vraiment excellent."

"This is a wonderful boutique hotel, probably the best I’ve ever stayed in (and I travel a lot and stay in many hotels). The attention to detail, the thoughtfulness of the furnishings and decorations made me feel welcome … a yoga mat in the room, a stocked drinks fridge and quality snacks in the room, a full ice bucket and complimentary home baked shortbread biscuits brought to the room at the end of the day, quality artwork on the walls, a comfortable bed with quality linen, a selection of interesting books on the shelves. And then there is the quirky restaurant and rooftop terrace on the 6th floor - Gigi Rooftop - which serves great food and quality drinks … I didn’t want to go elsewhere as is so often the case in business hotels. Best of all is the staff, from the doorman and receptionist to the restaurant staff … they were all great!! Switched on, attentive friendly, they even remembered our names! I can highly recommend this place."

"We had a lovely, enjoyable stay, the staff are 5* and their customer service is what would make me return if I come to Cape, I want to say a Special Shout out to Toby, Patience, and Zolani. We stayed for 3 nights and they made us feel like family by the end of our Short stay. Toby kept us laughing everyday, Patience extended our check-out time as a Kind gesture for a small water issue on our Check-out morning, and Zolani was on hand to make everyone feel safe, even accompanying us to the local shops at night as we was 2 female travellers. Everyone including the Cleaning staff deserve a pay rise/Bonus, they make the Hotel Great, we definitely hope to see you guys again, from Krystal and Sara, UK."
