Traveler’s Rest » Beautifully-Renovated Retreat

Located near to shopping, a variety of both chain and local restaurants, and a plethora of local activities, Traveler’s Rest is situated conveniently between Winterplace Ski Resort and the New River Gorge National Park; and only minutes from Bechtel Reserve—the high adventure base and national scout camp training center for the Boy Scouts of America. Access to all that West Virginia has to offer is extremely convenient by using the main arteries of State Route 19 and Interstates 64 and 77.

Traveler’s Rest is designed with a cottage-industrial ambiance, helping our guests feel right at home. Beautiful hardwood floors in the main living area are original to the house and have been refinished to gorgeous imperfection. Central heating and air throughout the house will ensure that you are comfortable. Artwork throughout the house features iconic images from Southern West Virginia.

The master bedroom features a brand-new queen bed, full-size closet with plenty of space to hang clothes, finished with a shower/tub stocked with soaps and fresh towels.

The second bedroom features two full beds, full closet, chest of drawers, and an adjacent bathroom with shower/tub also stocked with soaps and fresh towels.

The upstairs living room has plenty of spacious seating, centered around a 65” TV and entertainment center.

In the roomy dining area, you will find a table, suitable for six, and extra chairs to add more guests.

The beautiful kitchen is finished with plenty of cabinet space and shimmering quartz countertops, offering the perfect space to prepare meals or just a cup of coffee. Stock up on groceries and store them in the refrigerator or in the spacious pantry. The appliances include microwave, stove, oven, teapot, toaster, waffle maker, food processor, slow cooker, Ninja mixer, coffee maker, and hot pot.

The finished basement, with two massive Ultimate Sack bean bag chairs, is a great space for kids to lounge and watch movies or to play games. The 55” TV, is a great size to hook up video games or to stream a show. The basement is finished with brand-new carpet all around.

If you need a quiet space to work or to write letters, the dedicated office space in the basement is just the place for that.

The laundry room is equipped with a full washing machine and dryer. Complimentary Tide pods are available to get you started on your laundry.

Sip a cup of coffee or simply relax and enjoy the singing of area birds as you sit outdoors on the back porch patio seating.

This home is in a perfect location for visiting New River Gorge National Park. Everything was very clean and the home is spacious, well laid out and comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. I especially appreciated the great lighting in the bathrooms.

House was beautiful would highly recommend. Felt warm and welcoming from the minute we walked in. We very much enjoyed our time there. I would have given 5 stars but when we texted 2 of the 3 emergency contacts to let them know the propane tank for the grill was empty andwe couldn't use it, I got no response.

Home away from home

This is at least the fourth time my sister, cousin and I have stayed here for a weekend and we always love it. It is clean, comfortable and centrally located for shopping and dining. We love it!

Absolutely beautiful interior and extremely clean. It is a tastefully decorated and well maintained home. Of the many places we have stayed over the last 30 years, this is one of the best!

Relaxing. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Very nice place convenient to the National Park. Well stocked kitchen. Family loved the room with the huge beanbags and the comfy blankets while watching TV.

Excellent space for a smaller group.

Four of us stayed here for 2 nights. We spent all day golfing at Glade Springs so this was just a place to shower, sleep and hang in the evenings. The house and layout was perfect for our needs and I will definitely come back if we do this golf trip again.

Fantastic!

Travellers Rest was an amazing place to stay - a real home from home. We stayed for 4 weeks over Christmas and New Year with our two children, aged 11 and 13. This property had absolutely everything we needed and more and is a perfect location. The hosts were super helpful with information before we travelled and when we were there. We would all highly recommend this place and can't wait to return!

Very clean. Looks like recently remodeled. Was a smoke smell when first arrived which dissipated over the first evening so don’t know if from previous tennant or cleaner

Updated, Comfortable and Relaxing

The property is so much greater than the pictures do it justice. The outside is nice but the inside is wonderful! It is very tastefully decorated, making it feel cozy and like home. Everything looks and feels brand new. It is obvious the home has been updated amazingly well. All of the amenities were there that we could need and we stayed for a week. It appears maybe guests leave things for other guests which is so kind. We left a Keurig there but they had a regular coffee maker and a pod coffee maker just not the keurig. Our way of “paying it forward”. The beds were super comfortable, as was the living room furniture (and the bean bag chairs downstairs) and there was so much more room in the house than we imagined. The property is so close to everything, including restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, outdoor activities, New River Gorge, etc. We felt very safe, even sitting outside every night on the patio. It really was perfect for us and we enjoyed every single day there. We even spoke to a neighbor one day who was very friendly and outgoing.

Excellent home!

The home was really nice and the bonus playroom downstairs was a fun surprise for the kids. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. I loved that there was stainless steel pots and pans, not beaten up nonstick. We did have a problem with gnats in the kitchen, so it would be good to set up some fly traps. Otherwise, this was an excellent place to stay.

Great Stay

This place looks exactly like the photos and in person, appears to be well taken cared of. The location was great. Just be cautious with small children. Most of the time, the drivers were going the speed limit but there were a few who just sped down the road which is directly in front of the home.

Great ski trip!

Our group of 7 (4 adults, 3 teens) stayed here for a ski trip to Winterplace. We also did some hiking in the area. The house is very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Very close to restaurants and grocery stores in Beckley. We would definitely stay here again.

We would highly recommend this house to others. It was an easy location for hiking in New River Gorge. The house is clean, comfy, and well appointed. Really liked having a garage to park in during our stay. Check out was easy and trouble free. Well done!

Great location for visiting New River Gorge NP

Staying at Travelers Rest made for a perfect “home away from home.” The location was ideal for exploring most areas of New River Gorge NP. After hiking every day, it was great to come back to such a warm and comfortable home. House was super clean and very well stocked. Definitely recommend staying here.

New River Gorge Visit

Traveler's Rest is all that is advertised and more. Our stay was perfect. Great location for exploring New River Gorge NP and the surrounding area. Immaculately clean, modern, with all the comforts of home. Restaurants/shopping close by. Quiet neighborhood (some traffic noise, but the bedrooms are in the back of the house and not affected). Would definitely return to the area (lots to do) and stay here again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
