Great location

Location was great and comfortably accommodated 12 and overall we had a nice long weekend on LBI. Unfortunately, the fridge had dead fish smell and the 2 bedrooms in downstairs basement had a musty smell. Many of the windows did not have screens or had ripped screens so limited the number of windows we could open on some very nice days. The window shades were not in good shape but did function

The home is Rustic shore home. The location is way close to the beach and restrooms. Just go up the hill and you get to see sunsets. Just go to the left. And then you're on the beach. For the beautiful moonrise and sunrise. This is a perfect house for our big family. Or a bunch of friends to get together. It was also great for a couple. Outside shower has beautiful. plenty of Pressure.

This was exactly what we were looking for. It was our first time using Vrbo and our host was responsive to texts and queries as things came up….as things do. We are a family of nine and there was enough room at a price we could afford. Thanks!

Nice vacation

Really loved the house and the location but weren't aware 3 of the beds were in the basement. Never found that in the 10 years coming here. No one would sleep there

Our stay at Gerard's place was excellent. The location is incredible. At the very south of the island, so you are away from the hustle and bustle of town. In less than a minute walk you can be on the beach. The house has all the amenities you could want. We had 2 adults and 2 kids and it worked out for us where everyone could stay on the top floor where u have 3 bedrooms. Outdoor shower was excellent. Very roomy. Backyard area is nice too. It was also nice we could put our beach stuff in the garage on the ground floor so it was easy access when we wanted to head to the beach. Gerard was an excellent host. He responded to any concerns I had immediately on the VRBO app. I would definitely recommend this place to family's of 4 with young kids because you can get back and forth to the beach easily and everyone can be on the same floor when it comes to the bedrooms.

"The Party House"

When I told my family where we were staying they exclaimed "oh the party house!" The upstairs was cute- though needs some updating and a really thorough cleaning. We didn't use the downstairs at all, but had we needed those rooms, I would have felt badly for whomever used them. There's poison ivy by the outdoor shower. (Though again, no one was using it) The perks: location! Super quick walk to the beach. The front porch is cute and it was nice having coffee in the morning.

Great location, accomodation was adequate for a short stay.

We booked this property because we wanted 4 bedrooms, however, 2 of the 5 bedrooms are downstairs and there is a very strong kerosene type smell. No one wanted to sleep downstairs. 2 of the 3 bedrooms upstairs had great mattresses (despite the horrible plastic waterproof coverings), one of the bedrooms has a very thin mattress and is not comfortable. I didn't see in the listing the need to bring ALL bedding not just sheets. Note the owner does not provide blankets or comforters/ duvets so you need to bring. The fact that the location is awesome (the very end of the island) easy access to the beach and a coffee shop/ cafe around the corner made this a great stay. Also the fact that we were able to bring our dog was a huge plus. I would definitely stay here again for a weekend away.

A great spot!

We had a wonderful peaceful weekend even though the hurricane put a damper on on some of the local festivities. We would definitely stay again! We love Holgate, and the house is in super close proxinimty of the beach!

Fantastic location. Ok accommodations.

We were super close to the beach & the nature preserve - wonderful location! The house was overall well stocked, but shabby and degraded in places to the point that I had thought the previous guests may have caused damage before we got there. One of the sets of window shades in the front room looked like a dog had chewed on them. And there was a mothball-like chemical smell in the basement so strong that one of my guests asked to sleep on the couch upstairs to get away from it. We opened windows downstairs to air it out, which helped, but the remnants of the smell still lingered the next couple of days.

Listed for12 guests but was very uncomfortable having anyone sleep in the basement bedrooms due to the creosote smell. There really wasn’t any common area for 12 people except for on back deck There was not enough kitchen equipment- actually only 3 coffee mugs. Overall the house did not seem well cared for. Renters should be aware they will need a fire stick especially if they have children or they will have to settle for basic cable. And we had to wait 45 minutes to move in because the housekeeper was still “cleaning”. Location was perfect so time spent out of the house was fine.

“Beautiful location in ok house”

We loved the easy accessibility to the beach and beauty of the area at the end of the island. The porch and backyard area Made for a wonderful outdoor living space even if a few of the cushions had cigarette burns and a chair seat torn. The upstairs accommodations were fine, but those that slept downstairs had to deal with smell from the garage and a pass through bedroom. We will not Rent here again because we will look for a place in a little bit better condition, but we had a wonderful week and we found the owner very quick to get back to us on any of our concerns though I was surprised that we were delayed 20 minutes getting into our rental on Saturday.

Perfect location!

While the home is older and a bit dated, it was very comfortable and the location can’t be beat. Everything we needed for fun was provided including beach chairs, bikes, and a cooler. The outdoor shower was great and key to have with only bathroom.

The house had a terrible smell of oil from the creosol in the basement garbage was piled up outside in all cans so that’s what you looked at when you sat on the deck left before the stay was over

Great location

Perfect LBI location: on the Southern tip closest to the nature preserve, a great sandwich shack around the corner, a block from the beach, a short hoof to the bay with a public kid's playground. Gerald was quick to respond to any questions, and easygoing.
