WELCOME GUESTS!
The Brickyard Creek Cottages (BYC) is an environmental community of private residences with a small percentage of privately owned rental cottages. Individual owners and families come to enjoy the natural setting and quiet privacy of their cabin in the woods. BYC’s community rental policies below:
COTTAGE PRIVACY: Join us in enjoying the natural setting: forest trails, creek, and over 70 acres of Bayfield Boreal Forest. Honor the privacy of residents and other guests—only use designated nature trails or roads to explore the area. The areas along the lake are privately owned and are not part of the BYC community land. Please respect our neighbors!
QUIET ESCAPE IN THE WOODS: Sounds carry through the woods. Keep Brickyard Creek a `tranquil nature escape` for everyone by refraining from loud music and excessive porch noise. Community quiet hours are enforced daily between 10pm and 8am.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT LIMITS: Each cottage is approved by the Bayfield County Health Department to accommodate a maximum number of guests deemed appropriate to the cottage style. All guests must be registered. Adding guests after registration is strictly prohibited. The local health code is regulated and monitored.
COMMUNITY BEACH: Enjoy the community`s private beach and covered picnic area as you look out at the Apostle Islands. Be safe; absolutely no climbing on the rock wall. The jagged boulders are unstable and shifting daily. The marina land, docks, furniture, and clubhouse adjacent to the community beach are for paid marina members only. There is no public bathroom available at the lakefront. The parking spaces at Roy`s Point Marina are for boaters renting the marina slips only. Please walk, using either the trail or road system, when visiting the beach.
PARKING: Guests are allotted space for two cars or motorcycles at each rental cottage. No RV, boat, or trailer parking is allowed at cabins. Parking for excess cars and alternative vehicles is available for a small nightly fee adjacent to the marina. Contact Roy`s Point Marina to reserve space in advance of your arrival. The Brickyard Creek Association, residents and/or rental agents assume no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings in or on the Brickyard Creek property.
ATV`s & UTV`S: All-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles are not permitted on Brickyard Creek roads.
ALLERGY-FREE ZONE: All cottages are allergy-free rentals, only a handful of cabins allow pets— no pets without prior approval. NO smoking or burning incense or candles allowed. Per the State of Wisconsin smoking ban, this includes smoking on decks and/or screen porches.
CAMPFIRES: Enjoy the community fire pit located near the beach by the gazebo. There is usually firewood available. DO NOT pick up wood on the common grounds, private lots, or along the trails. Be alert to wind and weather conditions. Fast-moving embers easily burn holes in sails of boats at the marina or start forest fires. Please be careful not to build roaring fires. Do not leave fires unattended and ensure they are fully extinguished when leaving the area. Fires are not permitted anywhere else on BYC properties.
GRILLS: Propane or electric grills are available at most properties for guest use. Guests shall be required to clean grills after use. Failure to do so will result in a $25 fee. Propane should be TURNED OFF after use and cover placed on grill AFTER grill is cool. Please notify Windseeker Rentals when propane runs out.
HOLDING TANKS: The majority of the Brickyard Creek Cottages have holding tanks, not a sewer or septic system. Please don`t run water unnecessarily or flush any feminine products. We ask that only registered guests to the cottage unit use the bath/shower facilities.
GARBAGE & RECYCLING: Our community recycles cans, cardboard, plastic, and glass— we hope you will too! Garbage and recycling dumpsters are located just past the intersection of Roy`s Point Boulevard and Brickyard Creek Road. Please `free your recyclables` by placing them directly in the dedicated dumpster or use a paper bag. We are charged an added fee for every plastic bag found in our recycling dumpster. Thank you for your efforts. Every little bit counts!
CHILDREN & FAMILIES: The love of the environment starts in childhood. Kids are always welcome! Please provide adult supervision to ensure their safety and the solitude of the other guests and residents.
TWENTY IS PLENTY: The roads in Brickyard Creek are considered part of the trail system. For the safety of all pedestrians, drive 20 mph or less. Particularly watch for children whose enthusiasm may cause them to outpace their adult supervisors.
NATIVE TREES & FLORA: Brickyard cottages are `of the land, not on the land.` During construction, very few trees and natural plants were disturbed. We ask you to be cautious of marked `nature rehabilitation` areas, and please don`t pick wildflowers.
MEET THE NEIGHBORS: Brickyard Creek is a residential community of private Lake Superior cabins with a small percentage of rental cottages. Individual owners, families, and guests come to enjoy the natural setting and the tranquility of the Bayfield Boreal Forest. In this quiet environmental community, the “cabins are of the land not on the land.” The community consists of a group of active people committed to maintaining this unique boreal forest environment, promoting education, and creating a legacy of responsible stewardship.

Exceeded expectations! The best of both worlds. Rustic, but with all of the amenities you could want. Perfectly private and secluded yet very close to Bayfield. Clean, fresh, and breezy. We loved the fully equipped kitchen, and the screened-in deck. There was no need to eat out. Online check in was easy, and we were able to get help via text when we needed extra towels and when we had a question about the TV.
The cabin was very nice. It was a central location for visiting several waterfalls. We never cooked or grilled at the cabin so I can't comment on those but everything looked fine. It was a really quiet get-away.
We had a lovely stay at this clean, cozy and well-equipped property. My favorite feature is the screen porch, which feels like you are in the middle of the forest. The loft stairs were manageable and everything worked well.
Awesome cabin. Everything u could need or want. Beautiful surroundings and minutes to bayfield. No air conditioning but it stayed cool enough being in the woods.
We had a wonderful stay with windseeker rentals! We were really taking it back by how clean and modern the cabin was while still being Incredibly cozy and cabin-like. The screened in porch was the best, breakfast and coffee on the screened in porch while you feel like you’re actually in the middle of the woods. Then evenings with beers on the screened in porch. Not a single bug in the entire cabin, I don’t know how you guys do it! We will definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in Bayfield in the future!
Very peaceful, clean and well equipped kitchen. Sitting on the porch listening to rain falling is very relaxing. Our TMoblie phones had no signal in this area. Also, the listing should be amended to state the bathroom is on the first floor and bedroom is in the loft with a very narrow staircase in between - challenging for people of our vintage.
The Woodland Chalet was a perfect escape. It is a couple miles from the hustle and bustle of Bayfield set in the woods. It was exceptionally clean when we arrived. The kitchen had everything we wanted (and more). We spent most of our time on the screened porch for dining and relaxing. We would not hesitate to return to the chalet. One should be aware, however, that the stairs to the loft are narrow and the sloping roof in the loft could be a problem for a taller person.
Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
We really enjoyed how quiet this place was and how it sits back in the woods. First evening we saw a beautiful red fox stroll past. We really liked the walk to the marina at the end of the street as well.
It was very private and quiet. It was close enough to town to bike back and forth. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The porch was lovely but did have a couple of gaps for mosquitos to get in. I brought some 3m Thermocell and that helped with mosquitos. The stairs are not for the faint at heart or if you get up a lot at night. I alway hate the extra cleaning fees as I don’t make a mess and to me, that is the cost of doing business. The local taxes are high too.
The cozy cabin was nestled in amongst the trees and woodland shrubs. It was ripe with the up north feeling that we were expecting, yet still close to everything that we wanted to do or explore. It was my first time ever booking something like this, and I was warmly received and updated.
The cabin was perfect for our weekend getaway for our 15th wedding anniversary. The fireplace was cozy when it was cooler the first night and the screened porch as perfect for the warmer night. The only issue we had was the tv. It was hard to get it to work with the remotes. Would definitely come back again!

Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Not what we reserved
The property we reserved was not the property where they placed us. There was no communication in advance regarding the change - it seemed as though they were hoping it would go unnoticed by us.
They also made a mistake with the number of persons I had made the reservation for and placed us in a property that did not offer sufficient sleeping options for our group (aside from it just not being the property we chose). They attempted multiple of times to suggest that I had made that mistake - they only had us down for 2 persons - even though my email confirmation of reservation clearly indicated 3 persons, as I pointed out to them.
At no point in our stay did the management company sufficiently address the gap in their performance.
We understand that things happen. Had they just reached out when they realized that they would not be able to fulfill our reservation as is, this whole experience could have gone differently.
Throughout it all, we were made to feel as if we were in the wrong, which was unacceptable. Additional example - the gas fireplace wouldn't shut off via the remote so I requested assistance/info from them. They assumed it was my error and reiterated how the remote should be used for that. I had to reach out again to let them know that I had in fact used the remote (I am actually quite savy with technology). They eventually stopped out (without communicating in any way to let us know they would be doing that) and found that a setting was wrong. Again, no apology for the inconvenience...
I would be reluctant to rent from the management company again. At a base level, one should expect that the property they reserved will be the property where they stay. If/when that base expectation cannot be met, transparent communication is necessary (along with good customer service) and that was not what we experienced.
Quiet cozy cabin! Close to downtown Bayfield. And marina for our kayaks was walking distance Screened in porch great for breakfast and coffee and wine in the evening.Comfortable ! Would stay there again
Great cabin in the woods. Had everything we needed for a really nice stay. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch. Will recommend this property to others looking for a trip to the Bayfield area.
We absolutely loved staying at the Woodland Chalet! We spent the majority of the time relaxing on the screened in porch listening to the forest. We had everything we needed and slept comfortably every night. The trails in the community are so nice and the location is close to all the trails, Lake Superior, and Bayfield. All excellent!
We spent a week at Woodland Chalet in Bayfield. The location was perfect for all that we wanted to do and also for the times when we wanted to do nothing.
In town for the annual Point to LaPointe swim. Spent a great weekend at the Woodland Chalet. Beautiful, clean and comfortable. Great location for all things Bayfield. Beautiful setting. Enjoyed walking to the marina/beach and on the trails through the woods. If you want privacy this is the place - several other homes in the neighborhood but separated by beautiful woods - you feel like you are far from everyone! Will definitely return!
