Hauser's Bayfield Cabin (Whole Cabin)

Hauser's Bayfield cabin is a very modern dog friendly cabin - great for a peaceful getaway. It is situated in a beautiful private setting, with a wrap around deck overlooking birch and pine trees and there is also a deck in the back under the trees with a dinette set.

There is a small stream in spring. The cabin has a fantastic music system and TV with many movies, various TV stations and sports channels. The highly upgraded kitchen has new stainless appliances including a refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave - and knotty cherry cabinets and granite counters.

In the winter - staying at the cabin is like living in a Currier and Ives Christmas card! (Please scroll through the photos to see some of the lights and snow scenes.)

Winter is the most romantic time! There are holiday lights inside and outside and beautiful romantic snow scenes and wood stove fires. XC and downhill skiing is available at Mt Ashwabay and Jerry Jolly Trail. The amazing ice caves are only a few miles away! Our driveway is plowed in the winter after each snow is complete. A sedan with snow tires is just fine.

We have hosted over 80 honeymooners and anniversary couples. Little Sand Bay beach is just two miles away. Hike Meyers Beach trail to have an overlook to a gorge and sea cave and Lake Superior. You can see a bit of Lake Superior out the front windows of the cabin other than late May to late October each year.

Bayfield is a short 15 minute drive and Legendary Waters casino is ten minutes. Cornucopia is about 20 minutes.

The cabin is located in a peaceful private setting. We have hosted over 80 honeymooners and anniversary couples.

There are sea cave kayaking strips, biking and hiking many trails. many beaches (closest is Little Sand Bay beach about 5 minutes away), great local restaurants and art galleries, a beautiful night sky full of starts and occasional aurora's, sailing and fishing adventures, the Madeline Island Ferry to explore the island, ice cave adventures in the winter, fresh whitefish, smelt, herring, and trout and smoked whitefish and trout, artesian water, many types of Apostle Islands tours and much more!

The cabin is newly remodeled and has a very comfortable queen size Serta IComfort mattress with remote control for three levels of vibration. You can raise and lower head and feet. Includes Zero Gravity mode! There is a dresser and armoire in the bedroom along with a flat screen 'Smart' TV and there is also a Smart TV in the living room. There is a full kitchen, granite counter tops, knotty cherry cabinets, knotty pine ceilings, quartzite walls, and wood stove.

If you have two extra people - there is a leather non-pull out couch in the living room - and 5 foot long chaise lounger to sleep on (we can provide extra sheets, pillows, blankets if requested) or you can use a small blow up mattress for one of them. For safety reasons kids 5 and under are not allowed. A child is counted as an additional guest for payment purposes.

Music you choose - from Sirius Satellite radio and Pandora stations or your phone itself! The music plays through the excellent speakers in the living room from the Grace Digital Radio unit located in the bedroom.

You'll see more stars than you've ever seen at night - because the cabin is away from city lights. It is set back into birch and pine trees for a cozy feel. Just a couple minutes away is Little Sand Bay, where you can go kayaking and hiking and enjoy the beach.

We had a great time at Rick's cabin. The property is well stocked and maintained. It sits beautifully in the woods and all sorts of activities are only a short drive away. Will definitely book again, if it is available.

Sheer Beauty

Beautiful cabin! Very cozy and made for the perfect romantic get away! Our Golden retriever enjoyed the trip too, especially snowshoeing, hiking and exploring the ice caves....sheer beauty! Then relaxing by the fire was a perfect way to end the winters day.

Wonderful Cabin in the Woods

This cabin is fantastic, the owner Rick had great communication throughout and the cabin is clean and comes with everything you need. The kitchen is very well supplied with all the utensils to cook delicious meals and the serta mattress is a great touch! The evenings were cool and the wood burning stove kept us plenty warm. We had a great stay and would not hesitate to book again!

We had an awesome getaway at Hauser's Bayfield Cabin!

If you are looking to "get away from it all", yet like some of the comforts of home, this is just the place. Far north on a peninsula jutting into Lake Superior, this cabin is nestled in a tall birch woods. While our cell phone coverage was lost this far north, we found the cabin with good directions, as it was pitch dark and the rain poured down. I was so happy to open the door, flip on the ambient lighting, and see MORE than a cabin. This was a HOME! Meticulously designed with all the updates of a modern home, this cabin offers couples a chance to enjoy nature (Breakfast on the backyard deck) or listening to good music in the living area. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, and best of all, our dog was welcome! Rick worked hard to make it a warm and inviting place. We were able to connect to WiFi, although a bit slow (Buffering!), and watched some Amazon Prime movies; but truthfully after trekking around Madeline Island, and a boat tour of the Mainland Sea Caves of the Apostle Islands, we were ready to call it a night...that is, after we enjoyed a bonfire in the fire pit, and a glass of wine! Thanks, Rick for your handbook of places to check out in the Bayfield area. We went to Hauser's Farm, and ate at some of your recommended restaurants. Hoping to come again, Kris, Rich, and Poppy- our Dobie Mix

Nice house; misleading description; loud neighbors; no beach access; too many rules

This Bayfield cabin is lovely. It is perfect for a couple. It has a well-stocked kitchen, great views of the woods, and is well appointed. However, there is just one bedroom/bed. This property sleeps 2, not 4 as the description claims. Upon arrival we understood the leather couch and a roomy armchair with ottoman in the living room were supposed to be for sleeping. Evenings were beautiful (though punctuated by the neighbors shooting off rounds of ammunition and teenagers next door tearing around next door on their ATVs.) Down the road, some guys decorated their yard van with "NO TRESPASSING" in large red paint. The description implies the cabin as access to Raspberry Bay beach, which it does not. Annoying also was the 40-page booklet of rules, underscoring the need to conserve water. It was stressful to be SO VERY MINDFUL of every drop of water we used, due not to drought, but the fact that it is expensive for the owner to empty the holding tank. There is a camcorder trained on the holding tank that intermittently relays pictures of the tank, but also has a good view of the driveway, which was creepy. For the price, which is quite high, and we were pretty disappointed.

Bad experience

Inside of this small cabin was remodeled as pictures show. The woods are nice but the yard contains lots of leftover construction materials and a moldy old refrigerator right outside the kitchen door where you enter the cabin. It is 8 miles from Bayfield and we could never find the path to the beach which is supposed to be marked by a milk jug hanging in a tree. We were there for 38 hours. Mostly just to sleep. The owner required a security deposit on paypal and then said because we moved things (a ottoman) and were messy (did not properly clean the coffeemaker - rinsed but did not dry) that we had to pay an exorbitant extra amount for the housekeeper. Also charged to take out the trash. He blamed us for the dishwasher not draining and said I had to pay to have that fixed. It all added up to most of my security deposit. Lastly we found a bed bug in the cabin. We are not messy people. I am the owner of a professional services company. I have rented houses and hotel suites all over the world. I am diamond at one hotel chain and platinum at another. I have never had a single problem. This owner emailed me a total of 8 times. I asked him to stop emailing and contact my lawyer. After this he emailed me again and I repeated my request to contact my lawyer and after that he sent me one more email telling me he refunded my full deposit. This experience put a damper on what was supposed to be a relaxing time in Bayfield.

This was the perfect little cabin for me and my husband plus our dog. It was quiet and cozy with a lot of great upgrades. We loved being surrounded on 3 sides by the woods. It was very clean and comfortable, and there was a ton of info provided in the guidebook Rick provided. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, which I wasn’t expecting in such a remote location! We would highly recommend this cabin!

Getaway cabin

Beautifully maintained cabin in a remote location in the woods near Lake Superior shoreline. The owner takes pride in quality furnishings and upkeep. This cabin is nestled in a heavily wooded are that is about 15 minutes from anything you need. Opportunities for a better experience: one afternoon while enjoying the quite sounds and surrounding nature on the deck, someone showed up to mow the property including right up to the deck. Minor inconvenience we could have worked around that had we known they were coming. We had to be cautious with water usage during our first day as the septic tank was getting full and needed to be emptied. Minor Inconvenience- after a full day of hiking on a warm day, we were uncomfortable taking showers not knowing if this would cause backup. Note to owner: consider sharing the ‘rules’ for staying before booking is final, and consider taller more comfortable chairs for the kitchen bar/table (we liked spending time there while preparing meals but the table height/chair height was off a bit.

Beautiful place for a getaway!!!

This place was incredible! Everything was clean and just immaculately well kept. The bread maker was a fun treat (and a new experience!). After full days of exploring Bayfield and the surrounding area, it was sooo nice to come back to the coziness and warmth of this beautiful cottage in the woods. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to go to get away from the craziness of every day life and re-discover what truly matters, such as new adventures, immersing yourselves in nature, and quality time with people you love. Thank you, Rick, for your amazing hospitality and for opening up your wonderful home. We will definitely be back!!!

Comfy and cozy

This is a lovely little cabin and the pride of ownership really shows. Everything is high quality and very clean. The location is about 15 min from Bayfield but less than 10 to little sand bay, which was ideal for us to launch our Hobie and do some sailing around the sea caves. While the neighbors are pretty close, the cabin is tucked in the trees so you feel secluded. The hosts have provided everything you could need to plan fun excursions or just lounge around the cabin.

If I could give 10 stars, I would!

Hauser's Bayfield Cabin was an absolute delight to visit. We arrived late on a Sunday night and were immediately able to unwind. The location of the cabin was easy to find and off the beaten path (which we loved). The neighborhood was quiet, and neighborhood traffic was virtually non-existent. The cabin itself had a surprising amount of storage, and we were able to move right in! Rick did a great job supplying details about the local attractions, restaurants, and happenings which broadened our vacation quite a bit! Our dog Stella was thrilled with the cabin as she could see us in any room by lying in the middle of the kitchen. The cabin was in "Superior" condition, and the amenities (especially the bread maker) made us feel at home. Rick is a fantastic host. His communication is friendly and his response time is immediate. We had no issues at the cabin whatsoever, but it was nice to connect with Rick to hear about the cabin's history! Reach out to him to learn more if you stay for a night or a few days. Thank you, Rick! We will be back!

Perfect cozy cabin for our week-long (mostly) unplugged couples’ vacation Up North.

Off the beaten path on a gravel road in the North woods, the house was fully stocked with unexpected amenities like a full kitchen with granite counter tops and convection oven, adjustable Serta bed, and geothermal HVAC. We appreciated the use of the Weber grill, coffee grinder and fire pit. We brought our kayaks and explored the Lake Superior coast as well as some inland lakes and slough/bogs. Had a blast biking on Madeline Island and around town in Cornucopia (northernmost town in WI). Were amazed by the gorgeous white sand beaches running all along the north west coast of the peninsula from little sand beach (10 min drive from cabin) all the way to Port Wing (where we had the whole beach to ourselves). Biggest surprise was how many waterfalls were nearby. We “found” and hiked to 4 waterfalls and left detailed instructions in the guest book for future visitors. A couple bits of advice: most of Bayfield County has very spotty cellular connections so download your Google and AllTrails maps before you leave the house; check local town and vineyard websites for events like farmers markets and live music; bring bug repellent- the mosquitoes are vicious.

Quiet place for two

A great cabin for two in the woods. Great for anyone that wants to go off the beaten path and get out of town. Enjoy the smells of the great north woods, stars and fire flies. This cabin is within driving distance to lake Superior, beaches, hiking, and orchards. There were plenty of cherries and strawberries to pick this weekend! Drive to Bayfield and enjoy the farmer's market on Saturday mornings and partake in a show at the Big Top in the evening.

Weekend Getaway

Very secluded little place down some scenic backroads. Worked great with the proximity to Bayfield, was a short drive to town. Cabin is really nice, perfect size for just 2 people and a dog. The bugs were pretty thick since its right in the thick of the woods so we didn't spend much time outside. Would definitely stay here next time we make our way back out to the area.

The description on Vrbo was exactly what we found the cottage to be. Interior was completely updated, super well insulated and certified 'green'. The geothermal HVAC was efficient and needed with 88° temperatures plus humidity. Thorough cabin guide and easy communication with the owner. Location perfect for accessing Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Park and the wonderful activities in the Bayfield area. We had a wonderful time!
