"Shocking customer service. We arrived at 23.30 and had to argue with the staff for half an hour so he would let us into the room. According to him, they hadn’t received our payment and wouldn’t allow us into the room unless we paid again. I contacted hotels.com, who assured me and them that we had already paid. We were allowed into the room well after midnight. Not acceptable at all."
"No air conditioning in the room, lack of plug sockets next to the beds to charge phones, no wake up service, no fridge in the room for cold drinks.
I will not be booking this hotel again."
"DON’T be fooled by the “Hotel Shuttle” - no prices up - language of “shuttle” sounds like it might be free or on a par with getting a taxi. We looked at a UBER which came up as €12 and instead trusted the shuttle as we had 2 tired children. We got ripped off for €31 euros each way for a 5 minute journey. The hotel staff seem to be in on the evident scam. I asked why the prices aren’t made very clear and all of a sudden there appeared a price board from behind the desk. There were 3 families who would have all been paying that price! I never get scammed and this is the first time. I am genuinely and absolutely fuming by the audacity of the hotel!
We were staying in the building opposite the reception and had to walk past 2 men drinking and smoking. It felt so unsafe. Leering men commenting as we walked past with children, clearly assuming all we spoke was English!
The room was huge and the main bed very comfortable and spacious. The put up bed however was about to fall down! So rickety we were worried it would collapse.
I wouldn’t stay again on principle of the shuttle fare.
The disgusting misogyny was the icing on the cake.
No more notes. Wouldn’t recommend."
"Stayed one night in a deluxe room which was located in the converted attic space. Room was very large although quite dark with only a skylight with fixed curtain over and very dim lighting available. The shower worked well although leaked a little, the sink is located in the bedroom area not the bathroom and the furniture is sparse and dated. The flooring was painted concrete slabs. The bed was comfortable enough. Replacement bedding including quilt was piled on the side and no information was provided in the room i.e wi-fi password, breakfast info etc. It also at felt like the room had not been fully prepared for guests. The male staff member greeting on check-in was a little terse but the female staff member at breakfast and checkout was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was quite limited by menu choice but acceptable and pleasant enough.
The location itself is central to the main areas of Mons which are all easily walkable including all shops, restaurants and sights.
Overall the hotel served the purpose for a brief stay but would not like to stay in the allocated room for any longer period as was not a very relaxing space."
