"Excellent hotel with lovely spa, pool, rooms, foyer and beach. Walk into Makarska takes about 20 mins with lots of bars and restaurants on the way, some quite tacky. Beach access is easy to roped off area away from watersports. Good choice of Excellent food from the buffet, although some hot dishes could be warmer. Rooftop terrace bar is incredible with spectacular views over the bay towards Brac and Hvar. Would definitely return."

Hotel Antonio

8/10 Good

"End of season stay, so unfortunately the bar was unavailable in the evening and much of the resort nearby was closed for the winter. Room temperature was very warm overnight with a family of 4 in, but reception not manned to help with aircon which could not be reduced. Staff when available were friendly and helpful. Property modern and clean."

Bluesun Hotel Berulia

10/10 Excellent

"First of all, BRELA is beautiful. It does not have a lot of tourist due to the fact there is no cruise ship port bus terminal or airport nearby. It feels very local. The restaurants along the beach walkway were amazing and easy to access from the hotel. The sauna was excellent. There was a small fee but well worth it. You must reserve ahead of time but you’ll have a lot of privacy the beaches out front our world class they are small pebble type beaches, but the water is so clear you can see 25 feet Highly recommend heading out to the right side or to the north to a couple of the beach, restaurants and bars as they have outstanding food and drinks steps from the water wasn’t too impressed with the food at the hotel great buffet breakfast, but I wouldn’t recommend eating dinner there not because it wasn’t good. There’s just so many great options down the beach that are right on the water. The hotel was super clean and had been recently refurbished. We will definitely stay there again."

Grand hotel View

10/10 Excellent

"We found the property and our upgraded Bay Suite room exceptional. We opted to include the breakfast each day, the choices for the breakfast were great. We purchased the buffet dinner both nights and found that it was overpriced. We found the food for both meals were warm but not hot. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay!"

Bluesun Hotel Soline

10/10 Excellent

"Great location, the AC was not able to cool the room down below 25 degrees Celsius and we had to keep the curtains closed for it to not get hotter. They didn't have another room until the last 2 days. That one was a little cooler and we finally could leave the curtains open and enjoy the view not feeling like we lived in a dark cave. Breakfast buffet was ok, can't recommend the dinner buffet but there are a lot of options in the area. Beach and Adriatic Sea: amazing."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Bast?

The best area to stay in Bast is within the historic Bast Old Town for its convenience and unique setting.

Bast Old Town is the main hub for visitors, enclosed within ancient walls. It's largely pedestrianised, with narrow cobbled streets and historic buildings. The main thoroughfare, Peristyle Square, is a popular meeting point, and you'll find Diocletian's Palace at its heart, along with numerous restaurants, cafes, and shops.

Couples often find Bast Old Town ideal for a romantic and convenient trip. You're right in the centre of all the main attractions, with charming corners to discover and plenty of spots for an evening meal or a quiet drink without needing to travel far. The atmosphere within the walls, particularly in the evenings, is quite special.

For travellers who prefer a more relaxed setting with easy access to the sea, the area just outside the Old Town walls, particularly along the Riva promenade, is an excellent option.
