Quaint hotel in central Basel, very close to the train station. Great reception by staff and the added bonus of a free public transport card made the stay at Basel inn a great one!

Excellent proximity to the station. The property is an add-on for the more prestigious Hotel Metropol. The directions to the breakfast room were confusing so we made ourselves comfortable in the only one we could find. It didn't seem to go down very well. Perhaps because it was the Metropols dining room. Would we use the City Inn again? Probably.

Weird check in as not made obvious the hotel was within another hotel - like a rabbit Warren trying to get to room - exceptionally noisy air conditioning so could not keep on at night as it would keep us awake. Average breakfast too

Close to the Train Station Great Customer Service Don’t believe the Negative Reviews, yes the Rooms are down a hallway but it is safe, well lit and not that far to the elevator. We requested a room almost a year in advance and our request was fulfilled with no issues. My only minor complaints are that the Bathroom is on the small side and there is no closet. We would stay here again n a heartbeat.

Good Location next to Main Train Station and Trams

Located next to main train station and trams. Very friendly staff. Nice lobby with comfortable seating area. Nice wait staff for breakfast. Room had clean sheets with wall heater and air conditioner. The carpets were old and stained. The shower had very good hot water and great water pressure. There was a hair dryer and room safe. The door was thin. Could hear people exit and enter their rooms. But, it was quiet overall. Decent price for location.

I was pretty disappointed in my room Not like the photos and a bit jaded - needs a bit of a freshen up/painting etc. Other rooms looked much nicer but based on mine, I wouldn’t recommend. Location is ok but a bit of a walk to anything ‘nice’, convenient for bus to airport/train connections.

The City Inn offers a real bargain in Basel, so long as you like an architectural puzzle. A single building has been subdivided into one expensive hotel and one mid-price hotel, and all the rooms and passageways in between the two that didn't quite make sense have been called the City Inn. You check in at the posh hotel and have a fine breakfast in a panoramic 8th floor room in the mid-price hotel, and somewhere in between you wander various corridors and bits of staircase looking for your room. It will be odd when you find it, but comfortable, and very reasonably priced.
