Great place to spend time with family.
Spent weekend there with my best friend and his two seven year old daughters. We were even able to bring our dogs along. Property was well stocked with all the things we needed (not food, obviously). We had a great time just hanging out and fishing off the dock. Only drawback was water was too mucky to swim on that side of the lake the weekend we went.

It was good I was a little disappointed about the fire pit. When we got there it was in ok shape but once we had a fire going it fell apart. The house was decent to stay in. The pictures looked better than when we got there.

Relaxing get away
House was clean and comfortable, well equipped, we had everything we needed. Lake is beautiful! Outside of house could use some work. We did bring a small gas grill with us so didn’t use grill provided. Will keep it in mind for the future.

Rustic, cozy cabin for relaxing stay
This cabin was exactly what we wanted…we LOVED it!! We were happy to find parking off-street in a safe quiet neighborhood. We met neighbors on both sides and they were lovely, friendly people. There are a couple restaurant/bars in this small town that are good too. But it’s a small town with only a gas station, no grocery store so come with supplies. Lol The deck is awesome. We spent most of our time out there. We brought a folding table and our own camp chairs but there were a couple camp chairs there. We fished from the dock, we grilled, had a fire in the pit a couple nights, and enjoyed our coffee every morning on the deck. The bedrooms are basic but the beds are all comfortable. The linens feel like hand-me-downs so investing in high-end linens would make guest feel like guests. The kitchen has a lot of plates, cups, mugs, and pans, not enough silverware or cooking utensils. We bought a bunch at the thrift store and donated :-) Everything works and there is plenty of counter space for prep. The huge windows in the living room are great for the lake views. The breeze is also fantastic. There is a window a/c in the living room which cools the main living space but it doesn’t reach the bedrooms well. We found after dark, we opened the windows and it was cool enough to sleep. The cabin is a great place, Marnie was quick to respond to questions, we will definitely be back!

Nice Little Lake House
Location was great. We fished right off the dock all hours of the day and night. Had a nice sized deck to relax and bbq dinner on. Small town was friendly and the restaurant we ate at was surprisingly good.

The property is just as described. The neighbor was helpful. The property is right on the waterfront which makes for some amazing views and a great time in the water . Marnie was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. I am looking forward to returning to this property someday!

Marnie Perfetti’s house has a living room w/ a couch, TV and a nice view of Lake Barrett. An outbuilding w/ two beds pictured in the listing photos is presented as usable. The door was so warped it would not close; it was full of leaves and debris. Rumpled sleeping bags on the beds made it look like someone was staying there. Parts of the main cabin porch were completely rotted out. These don’t appear in listing pics which are angled to leave them out. Broken window frames let flies inside. The inside was clean in some places, but dirty in others. We had to wash dishes. We washed all the sheets because there was hair, dirt, & sand on them. When we arrived, there was a wet towel on the bathroom floor. The next morning, we saw that the toilet leaked at the base; the deteriorated sealant needed repair. On our 3rd night, the toilet overflowed. Then water started backing up into the bathtub, the bathroom sink, & the kitchen sink. Unable to use the bathroom or the kitchen, we were forced to clean, pack, leave & rent hotel rooms. We asked Perfetti to refund 1 night plus our hotel costs. She covered the hotel rooms, but not the amount we paid for the last night. She responded with profanity when asked why she listed a place that was in poor condition and potentially unsafe. Perfetti maintained it was an unpredictable, “unfortunate” incident. But, someone knew there was a problem because they left a towel on the bathroom floor! The plumbing should have been fixed long ago.

Beautiful location
Our family had a beautiful beautiful time. The weather was crappy, but we were able to watch movies play games cook food enjoy each other’s company. We even got to fish just a little bit and actually caught one neighbors are very friendly and helpful with directions.

Great quiet lake, lovely deck and dock
Outside property needs repairs, but inside it was clean and the kitchen was pretty well equipped. It would have been nice to have a picnic table on the lovely deck. More lighting (besides overheads) would have been nice in the bedrooms. Two reading lamps in the living room, for those of us who prefer to read. Would have been good to have been informed of the train traffic, but we adapted and found it not that big of a problem.

My friends and I stayed here for a weekend get away for fishing and swimming. The exterior of the cabin is deceptive as it has some rotted wood, doors which are slightly off the frame, chipped paint. The interior is quite nice and looks to have been recently updated. Clean floors, furniture, beds and appliances. We arrived friday evening and the neighbors, an older couple who live to the right of the cabin when looking at the lake, stood outdoors and stared at us unloading our possessions. They did not say anything or smile. They then followed us to the lake and sat on their porch, which is 6ft off of the cabins porch, not talking to each other and continuing to stare at us while we cooked on the grill and talked amongst ourselves. Then saturday evening we saw the older female neighbor standing on the path in back of the property, around 9pm, just staring at the cabin. Their behaviors were quite unsettling and frankly intimidating. If we had children with us we would have been quite nervous for their safety. The cabin was very nice, the lake was great and we had a very pleasant time. However, I do not know that we will return given the behaviors of these neighbors.

The cabin was right on the lake with very nice views. The outside of the cabin could use some work. The inside of the cabin has knotty pine on the ceilings and trim. Very beautiful. There is new flooring also. The lightening needs to be better very dark at night, the handle is missing for the refrigerator and no mattress pads on beds.

We dislike giving negative reviews but we feel we need to leave a review that explains our displeasure in this property. We feel we were misled about the condition of the property. The street is being reconstructed and it is a total mess, we had asked if parking would be an issue and we were told it wasn’t a problem- it was a problem. We had a call from the neighbors before we left home concerning the streets. They said to call them when we arrived and they would show us where we could park on an adjacent property. I’m still wondering how they acquired my personal cell phone number. The deck was untidy, the grill was junk, dirty and unusable. The porch was damp and mildewy- the storm window was missing so everything was rain soaked. The appliances were not clean, and the refrigerator had food particles from previous guest in it. We had no service in the area and I had only communicated with the property owner on the App. No phone number was provided. I had to go next door and ask the neighbors if they had the phone number. They called the cleaning lady and we then obtained the number. I called the property owner but had to leave a message as she didn’t pick up. We decided to make the three hour trip back home. The property owner called us on our way home. She said she needed to speak to the cleaners and get back to us. She contacted me after I left a message on the App. She refunded 50% of the total. I would not recommend staying at this property until these issues are rectified.

There are always two sides to every story... all I want to say is I believe some people are simply not happy people and will never be pleased. In three years of doing VRBO this is my first negative review.

Lakeside Cabin
We had a wonderful stay at this clean and cozy cabin. There is a very nice kitchen/dining area to enjoy family dinners, as well as a sitting area to relax comfortably. Marnie was excellent with communication. Her responses were prompt and concise. The property has great access to the lake and a nice area to sit and enjoy the beautiful view. Great Setting but trains….
This place is on a very cute lake. We loved the deck right on the water. The neighbors are fantastic. The trains go by quite often especially during the night. We left a day and a half early because of the noise from road construction and trains. The people who own the place are very nice and apologized for the noise.

Peaceful, Quiet, Fun Girl's Getaway!
Marnie had everything you could ever need for a lakes area getaway! We realized how much stuff we forgot and Marnie had it all! She was amazing to work with and was very quick at responding! There is a nice gas station and bar/grill within walking distance. We loved the small town, quiet, peaceful feel of Barrett Lake! The neighbors were very friendly and we enjoyed floating in the lake and relaxing on the deck! For rainy days, Marnie has tons of DVD's to choose from! Thanks again! :)

This is a very cozy little cabin with everything you could possibly need except no internet. I did watch a few DVD's that caught my interest. The neighbors on both sides were very helpful and the definition of Minnesota nice is the neighbors Julie and Ed. I would like to stay again when the weather is warmer to go boating.

Right on the lake!
We were so pleased to find this rental in my hometown! The house was just right...king bed is super comfortable, the kitchen had most everything I needed, and the deck right on the water was perfect for relaxing and reading. Marnie graciously let us use the garage to park our boat, too! The public boat launch is close, and it is a short drive to other lakes in the area. Bonus--the weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful.

Beautiful view of the lake. Didn’t use the lake as it was September. Enjoyed a fire in the fire pit with roasting marshmallows. Bring your food with you. Very small town. Minimal shopping or eating out opportunities. Definitely a place to relax and slow down. Owner was very responsive.
