La Porticina is located at the entrance to the historic centre of Barrea, an “Authentic Italian Village,” one of the oldest and most picturesque in the Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park, nestled among the pristine peaks of the Apennines.
Barrea is a strategic base for exploring the surrounding area and its natural beauty year-round; each season offers visitors different landscapes. It is the ideal place to relax and immerse yourself in nature: there are numerous trails to explore and nature reserves teeming with lush flora and wildlife. There’s also no shortage of activities in the area: hiking and excursions in the park with expert local guides; the option to rent bicycles, canoes, pedal boats, and windsurfing equipment; and riding stables for wonderful horseback rides.
Finally, in the summer, it’s impossible to resist relaxing on one of the two fully equipped beaches along the lake and taking a dip in its gentle waters.
“La Porticina,” an old building that has just been lovingly renovated, overlooks the entire lake, the mountains, and the expanses of woods that surround it: the view from here is truly breathtaking.

“La porticina” is fully available for the exclusive use of the guest who books it; furthermore, the private entrance and the surrounding area ensure total privacy throughout your entire stay.
“La porticina” does not have private parking, but to reach it, you can park your car for free about 100 metres away and walk along a gentle path with no steps.
Outside, there is a small stone staircase. There are no stairs inside.
La porticina welcomes your pet. However, out of respect for the home and other guests, certain conditions apply: only one small- to medium-sized pet is allowed; the pet must be accustomed to being indoors; pets are not allowed on furniture, the sofa, or the beds; please wipe their paws every time they enter; finally, they must never be left alone in the house. Access is permitted only upon express request.
La Porticina is committed to complying with protocols and regulations regarding cleaning, disinfection, and hygiene; and to providing guests with what they need to properly sort their trash to protect the environment.
There are three charging stations for electric vehicles in the municipality of Barrea, one of which is located about 150 metres from La Porticina.
La Porticina is 30 minutes from Roccaraso, Rivisondoli, and Pescasseroli; 40 minutes from the Alto Sangro ski area; 2 hours from Abruzzo International Airport; and 2.5 hours from Rome.
