About this property

Thimble Cottage - An Idyllic Cottage for Two with Logburner & WiFi

  • Thimble Cottage is an idyllic one bedroom, pet friendly, traditional stone cottage conveniently located in the heart of Youlgreave one of the prettiest and unspoilt villages of the Peak District. The cottage is available all year round for weekly and short breaks. Complimentary WiFi.

The cottage is ideal for a romantic break for two or being situated in the Bradford Dale and close to the Tissington Trail is an excellent starting point for many fine rambles and cycle rides.

With log burner, stripped floors, fine quality soft cotton bedlinen, fluffy towels and courtyard garden we think you are assured of a comfortable stay.

Thimble cottage is within easy walking distance of the three village pubs which all serve good home cooked food and accept dogs.

The cottage is cosy and comfortable and it’s the many little extra touches which make our guests return. It is ideal for a romantic break for two or a base for walking holidays.

The cottage is conveniently located within easy walking distance of the three village pubs (all of which serve very good home cooked food), newsagent, 2 butchers / grocerystore and is adjacent to the village post office.

We are also within easy driving distance of Haddon Hall (2 miles), Chatsworth (4 miles) and Bakewell, home of the world famous Bakewell pudding (3 miles).

The cast iron log burner and the comfortable sofa makes the sitting room a lovely cosy place to relax.

The kitchen is well equipped and the bedroom has a solid pine king size bed and quality “sleepeze” mattress and exquisite fine quality soft cotton bedlinen. The bed also has a memory foam mattress topper. A recent guest described the bed as 'the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in'.

Fluffy towels, heating & lighting all included.

Courtyard garden with garden furniture and which catches the sun from midday onwards. Generous off street parking for one car per cottage. We regret that we are not insured to take children, only babies in arms and also that smoking is not permitted inside the cottage.

10/10 Excellent

Great getaway

Ideal place for couples - cosy lounge with wood burning stove, pretty bathroom, kitchen with the little extras we really appreciated (including an axe for the logs) and a lovely bedroom. Idyllic walks from the village along the river or further.

8/10 Good

Good for a quiet get-away

Stayed here for 4 nights 13th - 17th September. A lovely little cottage in a quiet location close to all the main areas of the Peak District. On our first day we did a 10 mile walk from the front door ( Jarrold Short Walks - The Peak District Walk 12 refers) The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The underfloor heating making the living room cosy as the evenings started getting cooler. We are used to showers at home but managed with the bath option in the bathroom. Our only problem we had was that we could not get onto the internet via wifi which I think is shared with other properties nearby - the clear instructions left by the owners identiifed the wifi but we got a message that it was not connected when we tried to log on. Never mind - we managed and the pub opposite did have accesible wifi. Other than that I would recommend staying here though 2 of the 3 the village pubs were nothing to write home about. The food was good at the pub opposite the cottage though the pub itself was a little run down and dirty. A good selection of DVD's in the cottage. We watched the Duchess having visited neaby locations that week where it was filmed! I would be happy to stay here again
