  • The newly refurbished pool and spa opened in 2024 await you at our La Casa Sirena (The Mermaid House) at Bahia Vista in Avalon on beautiful Santa Catalina Island. This lovely getaway condo offers affordable luxury just three blocks from the beach. We provide you with FREE WIFI, Netflix, Roku, BBQ and propane on a private patio just 20 steps from the pool and spa. We fully remodeled, including wood floors throughout. The property features tasteful Catalina and mermaid-themed décor, fun for the whole family! We have two spacious bedrooms upstairs plus a downstairs cove and can comfortably sleep six. In the Master, enjoy a king bed, walk-in double-head shower, double-vanity in a lush, terracotta setting. The second bedroom features comfortable twin beds in a nautical theme. The guest bath includes a Jacuzzi tub set amidst rich marble tile. A comfortable daybed/trundle downstairs with pull-out completes the accommodations. And as the name suggests, there are plenty of mermaids to be found! Most units at Bahia Vista are available for rent, making the complex perfect for family reunions or multiple families who wish to vacation together but have separate accommodations. For occasional extra-warm weather we include both ceiling and floor fans.

    VALUE GUARANTEE - Why is La Casa Sirena such a great value? Unlike some big companies, we are proud to charge only what our cleaning company charges us with nothing tacked on, and no "administrative fee," no "processing fee," no "mandatory damage waver" or any other fees from us! (The service fee you'll see is charged by VRBO.) For our longer-term guests: We apply a 5% discount to a stay of 7 consecutive nights, and a 10% discount for a month's stay (28 consecutive nights).

    Two important notes:
    1) Only the number of guests identified during registration and names sent to property manager will be allowed in the unit.

    2) We love animals but our unit is allergy-friendly, so you will have to leave beloved pets at home. Certified Service Dogs are allowed, but because deep cleaning is required if ANY animal has been inside the property, a $250 charge will be assessed. Thank you for your understanding.

We loved the hot tub and pool. The grocery store was just a short walk away and room 5 was very close to pool. The steep stairs up to bedrooms were a bit hard for elderly couple but doable.

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was very comfortable for five of us. The pool, jacuzzi, jacuzzi tub were all nice features. There was enough pots, pans, plates, etc for the stay. The location also worked out. Would be very happy to stay there again in the future.

4th of July Fun!

The condo was very cute and all the beds were very comfortable. We were provided with everything we needed for the weekend. Chela, the property manager was very responsive when we needed new lightbulbs and a toilet chain broke. We enjoyed our stay here very much.

We were happy with the digs. Spacious rooms and not too far into town. The beds were comfortable and the place was very well prepared and cleaned. We could not figure out the TV so instructions should be added.

Long wedding weekend in September

We were there for a long weekend and a wedding. It was walking distance to downtown and the ferry. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It was a quiet area at night. We did not use the kitchen or TVs but everything looked nice and everything was there to use if needed. There was a nice patio and balcony to sit on and the ceiling fans kept everything cool. Overall a great experience.

Catalina weekend

Our 2nd visit to Catalina after 30 years. This time we brought our daughter and grandson. The condo was reasonably priced, a great location and had a pool and hot tub to use. The unit was clean, a perfect size for the 4 of us, a very comfortable mattress, and a friendly and responsive property manager who helped us navigate a new tv!Our only criticism was the absence of hand soap and Kleenex. We eventually got some small soap bars, but with a baby, hand soap would have been better, along with Kleenex!!Thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back again this year!attentive resounding

Not an accurate description

We booked this place specifically because of the pool and hot tub. Imagine our disappointment when we get there and the pool and hot tub are in the midst of being repaired. The description says the pool and hot tub will be closed for repairs in 2023. Our trip was in February of 2024 and still not done. The address given is incorrect. Brought us to the wrong place. It was very confusing. I would put the correct address here but I'm sure it's not allowed. I will contact the host and explain the issue with the address and, hopefully, she will make the correction. Other than that, the unit was immaculate. Close to everything. Well appointed kitchen. T.V. in both bedrooms which I appreciate.

Catalina Island VRBO

We were very disappointed in our stay at La Casa Serena and expected a better value for the cost. Yes, the location was great, communication good etc. but the unit isn’t as presented. I think we had clean beds but housekeepers need to do a much better job. There is dirt in the woodwork in places, especially the master bath. The living room carpet had not been vacuumed and was faded and worn. Then we cooked with pans and utensils that were unsafe due to wear and tear; spatulas ready to break, handles on pans ready to fall off, and old burnt pan bottoms. The dishwasher did not work and we were notified the day we moved in. There was one wine glass and the other glasses did not match. It would take the owners very little money to improve just those items. Will never stay there again and we also will not recommend the complex to anyone else. The pool and hot tub should be fixed or at least unlocked so renters can sit in the sun. And last but not least, the laundry room could be cleaned and brightened up.

Quiet and clean!

We loved the location. Easy access to trails leading back to the conservatory but also within walking distance to everything you could want to do. We enjoyed being a bit further away from the main street because it meant nice quiet nights. The property manager was quick to respond by text and very helpful! Thank you!
