North Central Austin is located just north of the bustle of downtown. It offers tranquility and convenience all in one. Discover the various attractions of this burgeoning district, from shopping to sports to scenic tree-lined streets.

Although it has no strict borders, North Central Austin is generally assumed to cover the area just north of Downtown Austin. Wander around these suburban neighborhoods, which are quieter than Austin’s center.

Shop while enjoying the sunny Texas weather at the Domain, an open-air shopping center that houses over a hundred stores. Meander along landscaped paths and visit specialty shops and restaurants. Browse well-known department stores such as Macy’s and Neiman Marcus.

The University of Texas at Austin sits just south of North Central Austin. Explore its pristine campus, notable for its red-roofed, light-colored buildings and lush green spaces. With a student body numbering in excess of 50,000, you’ll always find something happening on campus. On game day, show your team spirit and cheer on the Texas Longhorns alongside the rest of the city.

As the flagship campus in the University of Texas System, UT Austin has many cultural attractions including 17 libraries and seven museums. Browse the collections in the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum. Go to the top floor to view a recreation of the Oval Office as it stood during Johnson’s presidency. The Blanton Museum of Art features an extensive collection of thousands of pieces by some of history’s most famous artists.

North Central Austin has become a hub for students, young professionals and families. Its convenient location has also made it a popular base for tech startups.
