Location not Ideal

My party canceled our stay at arrival. We were very disappointed of the surrounding area of the home and felt very unsafe. Lots of homeless people hanging out at the fence beside the home, trash, and bars on windows of houses in the neighborhood. The grocery store closest to the home had a police presence in the parking lot as well as inside. Homeless people walking and circling our vehicle while driving to the house and also while leaving the house. We made the decision as a group not to stay because we did not feel safe in the area. The owner did refund the cleaning fee. My party lost a lot of money on the rental, but the safety of our family and children is priceless. This was my first bad experience with VRBO. I will definitely do more research going forward of the surrounding area and not depend solely on the description on VRBO.
