Arenzano is a stunning coastal town and popular resort backed by verdant hills that meet the blues and greens of the Mediterranean Sea. Holiday Makers flock to this lively hub in summer for its beaches and festivals. Gather with friends along the shore for glimpses of the picturesque scenery.

Stroll through the narrow, winding alleys of the historic centre to see some of the main attractions. Admire the Renaissance style of the Sanctuary of the Infant Jesus of Prague, which is built in the shape of a cross. Notice the large rose window on the façade and the colourful marble features.

Nearby is the Santi Nazario E Celso parish church. Gaze up at its twin towers, each displaying an identical clock. Within the church inspect marble altars dedicated to several saints. The structure stands at the northern end of the large Parco Communale with the gorgeously restored Villa Negrotto Cambiaso at its centre. Look for koi and turtles in the small pond and see peacocks strutting proudly across a field.

Enjoy the hot summer with a day at the beach. July is the driest month, while September and October experience a lot of rain. Sunbathe on a deck chair at one of the beach clubs along picturesque Arenzano Beach. Go for a swim in the Mediterranean Sea and snap photos of the views of the green hills behind the city. Stay for the sunset and relax in the bars and restaurants at the back of the beach. Among the culinary delights are Genoese meat sauces and seafood.

The town is on the Mediterranean Coast in the Liguria province in northwestern Italy. Drive west from Genoa for about 20 miles (30 kilometres) to get here in 40 minutes. Take a train from parts of Italy and Europe to the Arenzano Railway Station. Get around the town easily by walking or using its bus system.

Enjoy the fun and lively summer hub of Arenzano, with its excellent Mediterranean beaches and festivals.

"It is a lovely flat overall, we liked the space in the bathroom, the dining area and the patio.
