This was a nice place to stay during our Alyeska ski vacation. We especially enjoyed the the hot tub under the stars, surrounded by trees. Good family time. We would stay here again.
Very comfortable accommodations. Clean, spacious, well appointed. A cabin in the woods, but close to Anchorage. Our host was gracious and flexible with us.
We stayed 3 nights to start our Alaskan adventure and the house is wonderful! Plenty of space to spread out & delightfully secluded. Great access to walking/biking trails and the hot tub was the perfect way to end our day. Stay here, you’ll love it
It was amazing!! We booked this for the weekend because we just got back from college and needed a girls weekend. The property was very clean, gorgeous place to stay.
We had an amazing time! The area was absolutely beautiful. The beautiful scenery and aesthetic of the chalet made our stay so cozy and relaxing. We will definitely be visiting again!
The chalet was very nice and had plenty of room for my family. The location was close to many nice hiking trails and not too far from our glacier tour in Whittier. The house was well set up and even had shampoo in the bathrooms which was a nice touch for anyone who forgot something. I recommend this stay for groups who want to avoid hotels and have a little privacy the neighborhood was quiet.
We had a lovely stay at the chalet! Everything was clean and comfortable in a GREAT location! We loved the decor and the views! Because of some recent rains we did have to drive carefully in the driveway (gravel) to avoid bottoming out our car. Otherwise all was perfect.
My wife bright our family here to stay while we hosted our daughter’s wedding in Girdwood. Great spot and property. The only reason I have 4 stars on cleanliness is that I am 6’7” and see some things that most people don’t. I’d stay there again and recommend to anyone.
We had an amazing time in this place. The location is perfect to reconnect with the nature and your loved ones, plus the attention received from Russ was totally exceptional. Fully recommended and we hope to come back soon.
We stayed at this property for 4 days before a cruise. The location was beautiful and close to lots of beauty. The host communication was fabulous. The house had great amenities and lots of space for all of us. Beds were comfy and everything was super clean. Would recommend this house 10/10.
We really enjoyed our stay! Beautiful wooded area, comfortable beds, lots of blankets and fully equipped kitchen to make meals. Wifi and tv set up was very comfortable and there was a great space to play games. It was nice to be outside of Anchorage proper and so close to the water.
Just a heads up, the neighbours are quite close and had their dog off leash so she came over to say hello a few times (very friendly towards humans, barked at our dog a couple times but no harm no foul). Despite the proximity, the stay was still private and quiet.
Went with 3 couples to bird cheek chalet for a friends 40th birthday. This place is very nice and spacious. There’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out. It’s pet friendly and the road is nice for walking your pet and you can get on the trail down to bird creek nearby. We skied Alyeska and it was about a 14 min drive. We also spent a relaxing day at the nearby Nordic Spa. The hot tub at the Chalet is a very nice addition and we were able to see the northern lights from it one night! The host was very responsive and checked to make sure everything was okay for us. We would definitely stay here again.
We like how open and spreads out the home is. The space is wonderful, so we don't feel like we are on top of ea h other. We like how the house has everything we needs to feel like we are living at home. The only thing we are saf about that has nothing to do with the home but rather the nature. There are too many mosquitoes that we can't open our windows or door to let in the nature breeze. It would be wonderful if the home has screen doors and screen windows so we can enjoy the fresh air with worrying the mosquitoes. We didn't utilize the outdoor tub and bon fire due to mosquitoes problem.
We stayed here one evening enroute from Seward to Talkeetna. The highlight was the moose that came onto the property. The home was okay. It could have been better taken care of: bathroom blinds were broken and semi pinned up, mildew smell in bathroom shower and bathroom could have been better cleaned, every time someone walked in the bedroom loft you could hear the loud squeaking of the floor boards with each step, screen door on sliding back door kept falling off the track. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was nice. Simple fixes that would show better care of the home.
When we got to the house, it had not been cleaned because of a mis-communication with the cleaner not showing, but as soon as I called Russ he had someone come over and get it cleaned. We set up for the bridal shower while she was there and it was not an issue. She was super great and thorough and the owner made it up to us. The stay was an absolute blast! Perfect spot for a ladies sleep-over and bridal party. The property was beautiful, secluded but minutes from the highway. The hot tub was a hit and there was plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably. Floors in the house are a bit noisy for light sleepers but the whole stay was magical and perfect. Would recommend. Thanks Russ!
Our family was here 3 nights this past week & this truly lovely house was nestled into a winter wonderland. Though we were out and about… & spent little time at the house actually, we found it to have most everything we needed. We thought every bed in the place was wonderfully comfortable with plenty of nice bedding The kitchen needs more glasses and a real coffee pot would’ve been nice but there is a Keurig. We didn’t have time to use the hot tub but both it & the propane grill are nice touches.
It is an easy 25 minute drive from Anchorage & 15 minutes or from Alyeska resort/skiing.
Our only issue was cleanliness of the bathrooms and kitchen - which appeared to have been cleaned in haste & not much.
We highly recommend this property -which is really nice for families.
We recently did a family trip to take a cruise; was a surprise trip for our father who has talked about going for decades. We opted to fly into Anchorage and explore on land a few days before going to Seward to hop on the cruise ship. We are so glad that we opted for the few extra days beforehand instead of taking a bus straight to the cruise ship. This stay in Bird Creek was exactly what we wanted. It had plenty of space for our group, was super clean and comfortable. We appreciated that it was a bit removed; not in Anchorage and not in Alyeska. But this served as a great central location for us to explore nearby for a couple of days. The host team were very responsive to any questions we had, and were even flexible with our arrival time. If you are looking for a place that is a little more removed but within short driving distance, this is a great option especially if you have a large group. Many beds and bedrooms, large TV, even a hot tub (although we never got a chance to take a dip!).
It was a lovely stay. Very happy with it overall! Easy access from the main road. Accessible to all the southeast activities, Girdwood tram, Wildlife Conservation, Portage Glacier, Train to Spencer Glacier, and Seward. The perfect location for that.
Unfortunately, things are.always perfect, and thats expected for Alaska. The upstairs loft bedroom had no working plugs, so we had to leave our phones and tablets downstairs.. Whoever stayed before us, or maybe they weren't aware, blew a circuit with a plug because it had burns, and they couldn't get service until after we were there. If it was possible to visit before our stay, , they wpuld have seen the issue, but thats not always possible, it didnt ruin our stay.
It was a darling place and I would recommend staying there again, and for anyone who asks.
It fit our family of 6 perfectly.. Also we were greeted by our neighbors doggie who was so sweet.
