When you’re ready to begin exploring this historic town, begin with a trip to the majestic and famous Alnwick Castle, only a few minutes’ walk, one of the largest inhabited castles in the UK and used for some scenes when filming the ‘Harry Potter’ films, so it’s a must-visit for any fans. Alnwick Garden is also an exciting visit with its spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including the Grand Cascade waterfall, poison garden and largest tree house in Europe, where guests can dine in the restaurant. Alnwick has its own playhouse so check ahead and book a show. There are numerous places spaced out all over this friendly town to eat in and have a drink.
Heading 4 miles east is the picture-perfect coastal village of Alnmouth where there is a gorgeous golden sandy beach and coloured houses along the estuary. A short drive west brings you to the small town of Rothbury, found nestled at the foot of the Simonside Hills and where the River Coquet ebbs and flows. Lovely characterful house with lots of space to relax.
Lovely characterful house with lots of space to relax. Very well equipped kitchen which made it easy to prepare meals. Shops and supermarket just a few minutes walk away. Lovely walks from the house and you can visit Alnwick Gardens, Castle and Barter Books by foot. Gorgeous beaches just a short drive away. We would definitely visit again.

Spacious well appointed property in very convenient location for Alnwick shops and restaurants. We found the property clean, and with a well equipped kitchen if you want to self-cater. The property is centrally heated, although we did find it a bit cold at times due to the windows being original and not double glazed. This did cause quite a bit of condensation particularly in the bedrooms. There is a log burner in the lounge which we used, and you can override the thermostat to keep the heating on. Good size bathroom with shower over bath and a separate shower room was very convenient. There are 3 bedrooms, the front is very spacious and a good size double at the back. A bunk bed is in the small front bedroom. There is a useful information pack in the lounge, and a nice touch was rechargeable torches for use in emergency, There is on street parking at the front of the property. We found it very quiet which we appreciated. There is high speed WiFi in the property. We would have liked a blind at the kitchen window and the back door for personal preference. Would stay here again.
