The Fox Den is the perfect cabin for a couples get away near Breckenridge CO.

The Fox Den is a 1-bedroom 1-bathroom cabin nestled away in the high alpine mountains at 11,200 ft on 1.17acres of land on a quiet dead end dirt road. Once there, you will have many opportunities to view wildlife (moose, fox, elk, deer or even a bear) . The cabin is cozy and warm with great views, a fully equipped kitchen with great tasting well water and a comfortable living room. It also has a deck with great views, and a grill for all of your outdoor cooking pleasures.
The Fox Den has close access to many 14ers, hiking, skiing, biking, fishing, gold panning, 4 wheeling, golf or just about any outdoor activity you may be interested in during any season.
The town of Breckenridge and ski area are located 30 minutes north with all the amenities that a world class ski town has to offer. Such as restaurants, bars, shops, grocery store ect...
The town of Fairplay is located about 10 minutes south and offers restaurants, bars, shops, grocery store ect…
The town of Alma is also located about 5 minutes south and has a well stocked country store, restaurant/bar, and liquor store.
All these towns have great history with museums, great vistas and many outdoor activities in sunny Colorado.

Other things to note
**** The Fox Den is located up a dirt road with many switch backs. You will need 4wd with snow tires and possibly chains to get tao the cabin October through May.
The cabin is at a high elevation, if you have concerns about altitude sickness it may not be a good place for you to stay.
There is no cell phone service at the Fox Den, to make phone calls you will need to hook up to the wifi and use wifi calling me

Beautiful and serene

This is a wonderful place if you are looking to experience nature and peace. Also great for traveling to Breckenridge. Just make sure you know that it is a few miles of dirt roads (choose the appropriate car) and bring your Roku or other set up if you want any TV. Property was wonderful in all ways!

Very clean and was just like the pictures. Close to Breck but also quiet and remote enough to really feel you are in the mountains. Will be back!

Lovely and Quiet

Loved the coziness and quiet of the area. Saw some wildlife and loved the cabin. Not too far from Alma and Breckinridge. Would definitely recommend!!

Perfect Getaway - Clean and stocked

Heather was very communicative and the cabin was honestly more clean and beautiful than we could have imagined. The wildlife and beauty of this property + close proximity to amazing hikes, paddle boarding, and Frisco/breck made for an incredible vacay!

Peace and rest

My partner and I got some peaceful and relaxing time away in this cabin. It is remote and cozy which is what we were looking for. It’s a close drive into town for festivities which we enjoyed on the 4th.

Beautiful, clean, and cozy little cabin. Perfect for a couple’s getaway! Heather was very responsive with any questions we had, and she let us check in early! Lot’s of hiking nearby. Close to the town of Alma and Breckenridge.

Fantastic Cabin

What a wonderful cabin in the woods. It was so relaxing. Heather was great, provided us all the details we needed and reached out to make sure we were doing well. The place is comfortable with all the amenities. We saw a fox on our way out :) Highly recommend this cabin/location.

So cozy!!

This place is so cute and cozy. The TV doesn’t have any streaming services, so if you don’t want to watch DVDs from the 2000s then you should bring a device to connect. It’s a bit of a drive to get to from the highway but it felt so secluded from the world we absolutely loved it.

Anniversary Bliss

We came to celebrate our 38th yr. anniversary and the Fox Den did not disappoint us! Heather was attentive and made sure we were doing okay and that she was available if we needed her! We ate dinner at the Alma salon, hiked out back, enjoyed amazing stars and reconnected! Thanks Heather for making this the best anniversary ever!

Adorable!

Heather's cabin was so adorable, clean, had everything we needed (extra linen, games, DVDs, bathroom supplies, kitchen supplies and common ingredients, and Internet good enough to stream Netflix to the TV), and had a surprisingly spacious kitchen! The three of us, me, my husband, and our golden, enjoyed the snow, the sled, and were very comfortable. Heather was also very responsive whenever we had a question. Thank you for being such a great host! I will emphasize that the altitude is no joke, even for someone who lives at 7400 ft. If you think that altitude might be an issue for you, you might want to acclimate to a lower elevation, like Breckenridge, for a few days before venturing to 11k ft. Thank you again, Heather! We really enjoyed your cabin!

Cabin is perfect for 2. Located at the Base of Mt Lincoln. Convenient for access to Quandary and Democrat/Cameron/Lincoln/Bross (DeCaLiBron) - Wheeler Lake Trail is nice for an easier hike.

Private & Cozy Retreat

Enjoyed a few days of relaxing and peaceful time in this cute and comfortable little cabin. The host was very helpful and responded quickly to any concerns we had about road conditions etc. Adorable pictures and art of foxes throughout the cabin. We didn’t get to experience seeing wildlife during our stay in late March, but read of many other visitors who did. Would reserve again happily.

The perfect get away

we had just an amazing experience staying here although we did not get to see a fox. Everything else was top-notch. It was secluded enough, giving us a true feel of a private cabin up on the mountain. The property was true to the listing. The host is phenomenal and stayed in contact the entire trip checking in multiple times with us 10/10 would recommend we will be back!!

Fantastic Getaway

My husband and I came to the fox den with our two Golden Retrievers for a birthday getaway. The cabin itself is wonderful, updated, well appointed, cutely decorated, very clean, and cozy! The bed was SOOOOO comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was much better than expected. The fireplace added to the ambience and provided very sufficient heating. Despite staying over 2 snowstorms, we didn't have any major issues accessing the cabin. I will say we have a 4runner with excellent tires and I would heed Heather's warning about 4WD/AWD during the winter. I would not recommend any inexperienced winter drivers stay here, as we passed several accidents and people who had gone off the road - route 9 was closed off and on by the pass as well. The roads were plowed (and someone even plowed the driveway for us, thank you!!). Our dogs had a great time in the snow and we did see a fox in the neighborhood while we were here. We ventured out to Breck, Alma, and Fairplay and enjoyed local food and fun. Heather was an AMAZING host. She was very accommodating to us in case we ended up snowed. Her response time was lightening fast and she made sure we were taken care of. I would absolutely come back here to stay and would recommend this place to others!
