About this property

High-Altitude Haven: Hot Tub, Sauna, Views & Near Breckenridge

  • Summary:

Alma Alta is a rare high-alpine luxury retreat at 11,300 feet — just 30 minutes from Breckenridge — created for guests seeking privacy, quiet, and a truly elevated mountain experience.

This is not a traditional mountain cabin. It’s a thoughtfully designed modern retreat — “elegant yet warm, luxurious yet inviting” — where architecture, comfort, and landscape come together for a calm, immersive stay in the Colorado Rockies. Guests consistently say it’s “even better in person than in the photos.”

    The Space:

    THE EXPERIENCE

From the moment you arrive, everything is designed to slow the pace of life.

Mornings begin with coffee as light moves across the surrounding peaks — views guests call “pure magic” and say “photos simply don’t do justice.” Days unfold with skiing at Breckenridge, hiking Colorado’s high trails, or exploring nearby mountain towns. Evenings return you to stillness — soaking in the newly upgraded Bullfrog X8 hot tub on the covered patio or unwinding in a wood-fired sauna after a day in the mountains.

At this elevation, the environment becomes part of the experience. Quiet. Expansive. Immersive.

Alma Alta is hosted by Jonathan and Monet, who take genuine pride in every detail of your stay.

    WHAT MAKES ALMA ALTA EXCEPTIONAL

    • Elevated 11,300’ high-alpine setting surrounded by four Colorado 14ers

    • Sweeping mountain views guests consistently call “pure magic”

    • Newly upgraded Bullfrog X8 hot tub — seats 8, available year-round

    • Wood-fired sauna for a rare, spa-like mountain experience

    • East-facing deck with outdoor dining — shaded afternoons, spectacular sunrises

    • Floor-to-ceiling windows connecting every space to the landscape

    • Chef’s kitchen guests rate as “the best-equipped they’ve encountered”

    • Fast Starlink internet and three 75″ 4K Samsung TVs

    • Heated two-car garage and free Level 2 EV charger

    • Dog-friendly and family-friendly

    THE SPACE

This 3-bedroom, 3,500 sq ft home has been thoughtfully designed with curated furnishings and a modern mountain aesthetic. When you first walk in, the space is — in the words of one guest — “almost too grand to explain.” Open-concept living spaces create room to gather comfortably, while a wrap-around deck with outdoor dining offers unforgettable east-facing mountain views and welcome afternoon shade. The covered patio creates a natural space for relaxing or watching the snow fall.

Inside, the home flows from the main living area — with gas fireplace, 75″ 4K TV, and large sliding doors to the deck — to a downstairs rec room with games, a great setup for streaming movies or sports, and everything you need for a relaxed evening in.

    BEDROOMS

Primary Suite - The anchor of the home — a true retreat within a retreat. The king bed is dressed in premium linens with multiple pillow options, and the gas fireplace creates a warm, intimate atmosphere whether you’re winding down after a ski day or sleeping in on a slow morning. The ensuite bathroom is spa-caliber: a deep soaking tub, walk-in shower, and dual sinks. A dedicated workspace makes it equally suited for guests who need to stay connected. Sweeping mountain views greet you from bed.

Guest Bedroom - Bright, calm, and quietly luxurious. The king bed is made up with high-quality linens and multiple pillow options, and the room is framed by the natural privacy of surrounding lodgepole pines — creating a tucked-away feeling that’s genuinely restful. Thoughtful storage and a serene mountain aesthetic make this room feel like a proper guest suite, not an afterthought.

Bunk Room - The room that earns the most excitement on arrival — especially from kids. A twin-over-double bunk with a trundle sleeps up to four, making this the ideal space for younger guests or rounding out a group. High-quality bedding throughout, because everyone deserves a good night’s sleep at 11,300 feet.

    KITCHEN

A fully equipped chef’s kitchen designed for both everyday meals and memorable gatherings — consistently rated by guests as “the best-equipped kitchen they’ve encountered in a vacation rental.”

    • Oversized island with quartz countertops

    • 6-burner commercial stove and outdoor gas grill

    • Barista-style espresso station with beans and syrups

    • Full suite of appliances including dishwasher, ice maker, griddle, and Instant Pot

    • Cooking essentials provided — oils, spices, and basics stocked

    • Separate dining area seats 6, plus 4 additional seats at the island

    • Direct access to east-facing deck with outdoor dining table — shaded in the afternoon, perfect for a cool mountain dinner

    OUTDOOR LIVING

The outdoor experience is central to the home.

The newly upgraded Bullfrog X8 — one of the finest residential hot tubs available, seating up to 8 guests, sheltered on a private covered patio — and wood-fired sauna create what guests describe as a “one-of-a-kind experience,” especially in winter when the contrast of heat and mountain snow at 11,300 feet is unlike anything else. Whether surrounded by snow, stars, or summer skies, the setting offers a rare sense of stillness and connection to the mountains.

The east-facing deck with outdoor dining table captures spectacular sunrises and stays comfortably shaded through the afternoon — a perfect setting for an evening meal with mountain views. A firepit completes an outdoor living experience that’s genuinely hard to find at this level.

    LOCATION

Alma Alta sits at the summit of Quartzville Road just below the treeline — 30 minutes from Breckenridge, and worlds away from everything else.

The home is surrounded by four iconic Colorado 14ers — Mt. Democrat, Mt. Cameron, Mt. Lincoln, and Mt. Bross — collectively known as the DeCaLiBron. The Mt. Lincoln trailhead is just around the corner, making Alma Alta a true basecamp for Colorado’s high country.

Nearby recreation includes world-class fly fishing at Montgomery Reservoir and the Middle Fork of the South Platte River, mountain biking and hiking near Wheeler Lake, and scenic drives over Hoosier Pass and the Continental Divide. Breckenridge — with its skiing, dining, and year-round mountain activities — is 30 minutes away.

    KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Alma Alta sits at 11,300 feet — part of what makes it special, and something to plan for. Guests arriving from lower elevations may feel mild altitude effects on day one, and those coming from sea level may feel effects more acutely. Arriving a day before any strenuous activity is strongly recommended. Drink plenty of water, take it easy on arrival, and you’ll settle in quickly.

From September through May, mountain driving conditions apply. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended — roads to the property are publicly maintained, but snow and ice are part of the high-alpine experience. If you’re renting, solid choices include the Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Grand Cherokee, or any full-size AWD SUV. For more on Colorado’s Traction Law, visit the COTRIP website.

    GUEST ACCESS

Full private access to the entire home and property, including an oversized heated two-car garage. Entry is seamless via WiFi-enabled keypad — code provided prior to check-in. Garage access via remote openers provided on arrival.

    SECURITY

One exterior camera monitors the driveway and entry approach. No cameras inside the home or in any private outdoor spaces.
