Book both suites at Kaihanu Lodge and you'll have a pretty special base from which to enjoy your Central Otago itinerary. Make yourselves at home in our home - one suite takes over the first floor (accessed via the main door) and the second suite can either be self-contained (accessed via its own dor) or connected to the first through an internal door. Leaning Rock Suite looks out to Mount Dunstan and Leaning Rock. It has a bedroom with full width bi-fold doors onto your balcony, a bathroom and a lounge room. Nevis Suite looks across to Old Man Range and has a bedroom, bathroom and spacious living/dining area with a private patio garden. Both suites have French oak super king beds with heavenly mattresses, plenty of storage for clothing and luggage and all the usual hotel facilities like iron/ironing board, tea/coffee making facilities, light surround bathroom mirrors and books and games. Outside, besides the private patio, guests of both suites are invited to use the tennis court at their leisure, wander the grounds, take a dip in the dam, ask us to set you up around a roaring fire on the deck or join us for a glass of wine and share your day. Kaihanu Lodge is 5 minutes from Alexandra Basin wineries (although three of them are on our road!), the Rail Trail, Matangi Station MTB, historic Clyde, and Alexandra. Your comfort is our primary goal from the best mattress to the most stunning views and luxury finishes throughout. Designed for couples, Kaihanu Lodge is a place for you to slow down in between hikes, rides, tastings and experiences in Central Otago. There's a European influence to the decor because that's where I'm from and have enjoyed some of the finest homes and hotels. Bringing a slice of that to rural New Zealand is a treat that we hope you'll enjoy too. Your experience and the finer details of your stay are taken care of, as you need. Picnic, drinks and dinner packages are available to add-on once you know your plans. Whatever you need assistance with arranging - just let us know. Entertainment of the digital kind is provided through the Smart TV or the Harmon Kardon Smart Speaker for Bluetooth casting your choice of tunes or simply listening to the radio. Starlink WiFi is included. When you're ready to explore the Central Lakes District that we're at the heart of you can fill your days or scatter activities amidst downtime. Be as sedate or adventurous as you like: wine tastings and vineyard tours, jetboating and canyon swings, cycle tracks and mountain bike trails, gold mining history tours by boat, hunting and fishing, golf and off-road safaris are all within a 45-minute radius (some, just 5 mins!). Historic Clyde with its wonderful cafés, boutiques, heritage gold mining trail and river track walks is a 5-minute drive, as is Lake Dunstan. A stomp up to the Alexandra clock is a similar distance in the other direction. If you'd like to explore Lake Dunstan by bike or by water (or both!) boat/bike charters can be arranged for you. Just ask! Talk to us about the itinerary you're trying to build and we'll offer suggestions or arrange it all for you. You're an hour from Queenstown Airport. Cromwell, Bannockburn, Ranfurly, Naseby, Tarras and so many more beautiful places to explore are within 25 minutes' drive. Shuttles can be arranged upon request. Kaihanu Lodge is perfect for: * Couples seeking a luxurious retreat * Solo travellers craving views and space * Cyclists keen to explore the Rail Trail, Roxburgh Gorge and MTB trails around Alexandra * Horse riders needing paddock or arena space * Anyone excited to discover the wines of Central Otago and so much more!
