Heron View Riverside Retreat in Peaceful Rural Hamlet near Roman Town, Alcester

Traditional self-catering accommodation, suitable for a couple. Sky TV, 46 inch screen. Ideal for theatre goers, fishermen and those who enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. The property includes separate secure access, porch, lounge/kitchen/diner, double bedroom, bathroom with over bath shower and use of the delightful riverfront gardens. Visitors have shared use of the riverside facilities, including gazebo, covered sitting area with fire pit, with our 16th century black and white thatched cottage. We are only ten minutes walk from the charming Roman town of Alcester where visitors can enjoy the town's history in the museum, local ales in the plentiful pubs, diverse taste in restaurants and cafes. Waitrose is ten minutes walk away as well as bijou shops and charity outlets to delight shoppers. Stately homes, Coughton Court, the National Trust property linked to Guy Faulks and the gunpowder plot and Ragley Hall are great for outings. Walkers can explore the Arden and Heart of England Way and Oversley Wood and Cold Comfort Wood on the doorstep. Stratford-upon-Avon, Evesham and the Cotswolds are nearby. Your hosts Caroline and Paul will make you most welcome.

Cosy quiet comfort

Lovely apartment in the grounds of a beautiful listed building.The hosts were very welcoming. The parking was easy. There was a lovely local walk and several others within a short driving distance. The journey into Stratford was easy. We were there for a relaxing holiday and had a great time in this very tranquil spot.

Amazing place

Our first impressions of Heron View was that it was comfortable, very clean and had everything you need for a self catering holiday. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming and the setting is beautiful. It’s a 10 minute walk to Alcester where there are plenty of shops, cafes and pubs.

Paul and Caroline are lovely people who made us feel very welcome. Very knowledgable about the area and offered plenty of advice on where to eat, drink and visit. The property is idyllic, well kept and perfect for a nice relaxing break.

A perfect base to explore the area!

The beautiful little cottage of Heron View was just perfect for our needs. It was an easy walk into town ( about 10 minutes ), spotlessly clean, comfortable chairs and bed, a well-equipped kitchen. There was a lovely huge back yard, where one could sit and watch the river, the family’s pet chickens, or the sheep in the field next door. Our hosts were friendly and helpful.

Alcester Short Stay

The property was as described. It was very good. Visited a number NT and EH destinations all within 1 hour drive of the property. Stratford upon Avon only an 8 mile for the RSC.

Spotless cottage, very quaint garden & lovely hosts

Perfect little cottage with all amenities one might need. The garden is absolutely idyllic and the hosts gave us the warmest welcome. They respected the COVID protocol to the letter - it felt very safe! The cottage's location is great too, within walking distance to a supermarket and eateries, giving easy access to the Cotswold and even Wales. We definitely recommend this place!

Perfect cottage

We had a lovely time staying in the cottage. It was a great jumping off point to explore the Cotswolds as well as Stratford-upon-Avon. Our hosts Caroline and Paul were wonderful and even let us use their dryer after we got caught in a rainstorm in Warwick. Very relaxing spot and we enjoyed walking through the town of Alcester as well. Beautiful English village. Thank you Caroline and Paul for your hospitality.

Lovely midweek break

Very nice cottage. Clean and well equipped and 10 minutes walking distance to Alcester centre. Enjoyed the use of the owners garden, especially cooling down in the evening next to the river. Nice surprise of fresh eggs for breakfast, supplied by the free range 'girls' in the garden! Would recommend to stay here and explore all the places to visit nearby.

Ideal rural getaway

We had a lovely 3 night break on our way to Manchester. Heron's View is very comfortable and we enjoyed sitting in the gazebo at the end of the garden, looking out over the river. We took our breakfast down there as well as tea! The hosts were very welcoming and provided milk and also eggs freshly laid by their bantam hens. It is perfectly placed ro visit Stratford on Avon and various country houses. Highly recommend.

Peaceful

We loved the place! The hosts were beyond welcoming and kind. They made sure we had everything we needed. It was the perfect place for the middle of our trip. Sitting in the back yard, watching the chickens, listening to the river run past was so relaxing. The hectic, "on holiday" mode was replaced with peace and relaxation. There's a grocery store nearby, so it was nice to make a salad and eat at "home." We would definitely stay here again.

A great base for a little R & R!

Lovely hideaway to recharge our batteries, but with so much to explore within a short distance. Alcester itself has lots of old world charm, and that's easily within walking distance. Stratford is also within a short drive away. All in all, this is a really lovely little property. It has everything you could want. The superking bed makes for a really good nights sleep. Wi fi & sky (huge) tv complete the perfect package. We weren't able to make use of the garden or river views as it was the first snowfall of the winter ( Nov 24) but in warmer weather, this would be the "icing on the cake". Can certainly 100% recommend. monthd. charm

Quiet retreat

Very comfortable, with all needs met; even lovely and cool in the wonderful heatwave! Our second visit, with always a warm welcome from the hosts, Caroline and Paul. A convenient half hour from Stratford if visiting the theatres.

Heron View Cottage - A Gem

This accomodation is an absolute gem...from everything from the owners (Caroline & Paul) .....to the dogs (Clarabella, Amos & Rosie) to the chickens, the country garden and the River Arrow that runs along the bottom of it. The cottage itself is cosy and welcoming with a super king bed that provided a sounds nights sleep. The town is a 5 minute scenic walk and is very pretty. We intend to return.
