Lakeside retreat
We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the porch, paddling around the lakes, watching wildlife, cooking, and playing ping pong. Would recommend. Just a note (which was also noted in the listing so it wasn’t a surprise) but even in early season we found a number of ticks so just be careful and check yourself. We still had a wonderful time and everyone commented on how great the house was.

Wonderful private getaway
We loved out time at "The Land." The house was spotless, spacious, and was set up well for a group of our size (12). The bluetooth speakers throughout the house were a nice touch that we utilized. We loved hanging out by the lake around the fire, and explored the trails. Albion was a short 10 minute drive and we took advantage of that and went in to town for dinner. Everything was as it should be, check in was easy, as was check out. This property is highly recommended!

Dream home
The house we have now named Serenity because it’s is so peaceful and beautiful. The house has so much space for everyone to hang out . We loved the huge family room with the ping pong table and massive tv with a nice sectional to watch your Detroit lions or a good movie . The surround sound system inside and out is fantastic. The large dining room table to gather and play games . We saw deer this morning . Can’t wait to come back in the late summer and use the kayaks and all the water toys . We love this house and enjoyed ourselves immensely . Kitchen is also supplied with all your cooking needs . Thank you Mike for another amazing stay . Fantastic Private Getaway
We have a tradition going with very close friends of ours and all of our kids of trying to get away at least once a year in the winter to a nice place that is quiet but we can still get out and do things. This has probably been our best so far as the house was fantastic and the land was as advertised. The only issue we ran into which has been common lately is without snow and with more rain we didn't get to explore as much of the land as we wanted as parts were pretty muddy and we just weren't prepared for it. Everyone had a great time, and unlike some recent homes we rented, it was only about ten minutes to get into the closest main town which had a full grocery store, plenty of food options, and even a very cool kids exploration center that we all went to and was a lot of fun for the kids. In all it was a great trip and we all think we will be back, and may even try for a spring/summer visit since the lake access was so close and also private since you had nobody next to you, and we still want to get out and explore the trails more. Thanks to the hosts for letting us come out!

The Perfect Getaway
The Land was everything we could have wanted and more! We wanted a quiet place to get away with a few family members and elope. It was perfect. We were able to walk out to the lake and watch the sunset. The house was spacious and had plenty of things to do to keep my daughter busy. Would highly reccomend!

quiet getaway
We loved staying here. We had a big group of friends and a couple of small children. Everything was clean and accessible. We enjoyed walking the trails and shooting at the range. Ping pong table and tv room was a big hit. Would recommend for large families or groups. 4 bedrooms are for couples and then the last bedroom has bunk beds (+ trundles) for six; two couples had to sleep in there and one person threw a mattress up into the loft area. But it all worked out great for us.

Amazing Home!
The house and property were absolutely amazing and even better than described! We rented for our sons wedding weekend and were in awe of the beautiful scenery around the house. When we pulled in we were treated by two deer and a hawk flying overhead. Our family are huge nature lovers and we instantly were overjoyed! When we entered the house my husband, son and I were so happy to see the view of the lake through the fall colors of Michigan! Absolutely breathtaking! My son was so excited for his groomsmen to stay and hang out with him after the rehearsal. The house was perfectly set up to host a small rehearsal dinner and host all the groomsmen for the overnight as we all were from out of town. The kitchen was well stocked with some everyday items in the fridge! We stay at VRBO’s often and have NEVER had a stocked fridge of the “small things” you tend to forget! Mike was so helpful with all of my questions and responded in an appropriate amount of time. My advice…BOOK NOW! You will Not regret it!

Amazing Property and House
The property and house are fantastic. Tons of windows and natural light. So many deer on the property. Any time you look out the window you see a deer. Owners check in instructions were detailed and easy to follow. Bose surround sound that was throughout the house and onto the deck was nice. Cannot get more secluded. But not too far of a drive from civilization.

Fall break
This was our second year coming to this amazing house. We had another amazing stay. Our kids fished nonstop and enjoyed using the kayaks provided. The property is absolutely beautiful, and the home is just perfect. It was so clean and perfect for us and our five kids. There is so much to do here. The house has anything and everything you could possibly need for your stay. Our kids are already begging to come again next year. Thank you, Mike, for sharing your home with us!

This property is beautiful! Nice and secluded, just what we needed. I think our dog loved it more than we did. She was able to roam without a leash, she wouldn't go far and just enjoyed sitting on the deck .we enjoyed all of the trails. Will definitely try and come back!

Fabulous home. Trails were great - so many and well maintained. Our dogs loved every walk and scent. Kayaking 2-3 times a day. So many deer, cranes, swans, heron to see. Even a bald eagle! The lakes were great to kayak on - Clark Lake was so large - had it all to ourselves. Amazing stay overall.

Overall outstanding property, secluded with lots of wildlife and fishing. The architecture any layout of the house and property was amazing. The theater/game room was a big hit and it's position kept the rest of the house quiet. The large windows facing the water and three sessions room were great when it rained. A giant well built fire pit near the water was perfect for late nice.

Wonderful property for a QUIET vacation. The house had an open layout, with plenty of beds and bathrooms. Tons of activities to keep everyone entertained - fishing, kayaking, swimming, walking the many groomed trails around the property, campfire by the lake, etc. We all truly enjoyed our stay.

The photos don’t do this place justice, it is stunning. The beds are comfy. The house had everything and more inside and out. We had so much fun in the lake. We explored all the connections to the lake in the many boats they have. Everyone from age 9 to 50 had the time of their lives and we hope to make this our new annual spot. Can’t thank the Hart family enough for sharing their amazing place with us. We are forever grateful for the memories made.

Our family members came from Ohio, Colorado and Michigan to vacation together - grandparents, parents, teens, children and a baby. We had a great time! Loved having access to a private lake with various watercraft provided. The ping pong table and the games were a big hit with all ages. The layout of the cabin was ideal for for noisy activities while providing quiet spaces for others. Only one negative to mention: the ticks seemed to be out in full force, so we couldn’t take advantage of the trails or the shooting range. The host was very responsive to our needs. We really enjoyed our visit to The Land and would highly recommend it!

Fantastic Property for Fun and Relaxation
We visited The Land for a full week and had two families with kids ages 7-11 plus two dogs. Everyone had a blast, dogs included! Our kids and dogs swam their hearts out, we fished, wandered the trails, kayaked, paddle boarded, played games (amazing game closet), played foosball and Ping-Pong, cooked great meals, shot our BB gun, and made smores over the fire. What more could you ask for on a summer week in Michigan. The screened in porch was a great spot for the parents in the evening after the kids went to bed. Multiple TVs allowed for a rainy afternoon movies for kids and adults. Ticks were very prominent during our stay, not a surprise for Michigan this time of year, just make sure your dogs are protected and check the kids after being in woods! Mike was prompt to respond when we had questions, so no issues there. We'd visit again for sure if the occasion arises.

Family Vacation
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at "The Land." The accommodations were wonderful. Plenty of room for the entire extended family (my husband and me; 4 adult children; 2 in-laws; 2 grandchildren). Also plenty of activities to keep everyone busy both indoors and out. Our dog was in heaven exploring the trails and swimming. The only 2 things that were less than positive (neither of which is the host's fault): (1) the water was a bit murky for swimming and (2) the ticks were terrible. We had to check the dog for ticks several times a day and even had some on us after walking the trails. Aside from those two things, an overall wonderful place to vacation!

Wonderful Week
My family and I loved our stay. We had a great time fishing, shooting, walking trails, sitting by the fire, and playing games. The house was nice and spacious and was the perfect size for 11 of us. We also visited the downtown area of Marshall. It had some cute shops and good food. Joe’s Pastrami was a yummy sandwich shop and we ordered pizza from Dark Horse Brewing Co. one night that was delicious. There is also a local racetrack close to the property we visited and had a great time. Overall, our stay was great. Everyone had a great time and didn’t want to leave.

This home was amazing! Roomy, amenities well stocked, watercrafts plentiful, trails groomed, large firepit, decent lake. Was home away from home. We experienced minimal downsides. The lake is dominated by algae which is not a problem if you're using watercrafts, but for swimming the 4 children became ill, possibly from the lake based on internet information. The house can use detailed cleaning as we found water bottles, foods & toys under beds & in couch cushions. Would highly recommend this home to everyone & would stay here again!

Everything For An Unforgettable Experience!
We absolutely loved "The Land." What an amazing property! Our host, Mike, couldn't have been more accommodating, accessible or friendly. Add helpful too! We were an extended family of two grandparents, four adult children/sons-in-law, and, give grandchildren. Everyone had their spaces at night and during the day. The vacation home is spacious and laid out perfectly for a group wanting both togetherness as well as individual retreats. Can't say enough about both the outdoor and the indoor amenities. The grandkids never ran out of things to do thanks to the generous supply of games, puzzles, and rec room activities. (Oh, and for the gamers, their needs were met too!) The firepit was an easy highlight and our campfires were so wonderful. Water sports were enjoyed and the many spaces available to play were appreciated and well-loved. With a police officer in the family, the shooting range was a favorite as well. :) I could go on and on but suffice it to say that this slice of nature in beautiful Michigan was everything - and more - than we had hoped for. What a blessing! Thank you, Mike, for making our family time so incredibly special and near perfection. We hope to come back and won't hesitate to do so!

Wonderful family retreat!
This was our second time staying at this beautiful home. If you have an upcoming Albion College graduate you need to rent this home. The local hotels jack up their prices and this is a much better option than paying those prices and having individual hotel rooms. Everyone can be together and have meals and enjoy each others company all in one place. The new "great" room was great. Our family had a fun ping pong tournament and the music system at this house is amazing. There is also a place called the Duck Lake Tavern just down the road that has really good food. We ate there twice this year and last year as it is very close to the property. If you don't want to go to a restaurant, however, you don't have to. The kitchen at this home is very well stocked with everything you need to cook for everyone right at the house. Thank you for the amazing memories our Albion graduates will have of their graduation weekends!

Perfect private slice of heaven
We were a group of Albion alumni getting together, 30 years after we graduated. This place was perfect, it had plenty of separate beds for everyone, the dock and fire pit by the water was a lovely place to gather. We loved that I had a built-in speaker system so we could listen to our old tunes and the privacy made us not worry about having a big group there and bothering neighbors. Nice walks around the property as well. Lovely screened in porch for gathering also. Everything you could possibly need was already there. Could not have been easier to check in and check out.

A Getaway We Will Always Cherish
My goodness we had the most wonderful time staying here. The property spectacular, even in February! The home is beautiful and my three year old nephew thought he was in a dream getting to climb up the ladder the to the Foosball room and having a bunch of new toys to play with. Communication with the host was great and we really appreciated being able to host friends and bring our dog. The cleanliness wasn't perfect, but there were supplies there for any of our cleaning needs! Getting to stay in this home for the weekend brought our family closer, and for that I am very grateful! Definitely recommend staying here.

Peaceful Christmas Retreat!
The grounds are amazing. We arrived late at night and could feel the excitement building as we traversed the rocky driveway. Getting into the house at night we observed the large windows and prepared ourselves for the views upon sunrise. There was a Christmas tree decorated in the living room which was a bonus. Upon sun rise, the giant windows revealed the lake and grounds with a light dusting of snow. Taking the path to the lake, the first thing I noticed was the quiet, which was amazing. Bedrooms: there were plenty of bedrooms with two upstairs, one of which had bunkbeds, which the kids loved, and 3 downstairs. I appreciated that there were actual bedrooms as opposed to a sleeper couch. The master bedroom had an attached bathroom and a soft mattress that was amazing that I’m still trying to determine who made (so I can buy one myself). The beds downstairs outside of the master bedroom were reportedly a little firmer so keep this in mind when choosing your room. Bathrooms: The master bathroom had its own bathroom with a pocket door. There was also one bathroom upstairs and another 2 downstairs (one half) for a total of 4, which was plenty for our us. I’m pretty sure the bathrooms also had some kind of heated floors as they were not cold to work on as you’d expect in the morning, which was a nice touch. Activities: There was a ping pong table which kept us entertained along with puzzles and games available, the puzzles which we worked on diligently and completed. The main attraction for us though, as it was too cold to use the lake was the shooting range. It looks like this was suitable for rifles as it is very long, but we were able to stand up a pallet at a shorter distance and attach targets for some hand-gun practice. Kitchen: all of the appliances were good and the space was ample for preparing a large meal while still being able to socialize with other people due to the kitchen’s open layout. Fireplace: the fireplace was nice, I would just recommend getting smaller logs that fit into it. Overall this place was great, a 5-star experience and would stay again.

The Land is the Place to Be!
We rented this property a few years ago, and to my surprise, it has gotten even better! The new extensions feels like it was always there, and makes the flow of the house so much better. A few quick highlights. Spacious living and hang out areas. Plenty of bedrooms. Beautiful and spacious deck. Great water sports items that can be used (kayaks, canoes, pedal boats). It was a little chilly to use the firepit, so we utilized the fireplace the whole time. It was my second time there, and I was still impressed. Thank you so much to the host.

Amazing Property!
We just got back from a little getaway at this beautiful home. My husband and I, along with our five children, had such a great time. The land is so amazing and beautiful. Our four daughters discovered their love of fishing, and fished nonstop. We had so much fun in the kayaks and paddle boat as well. We enjoyed walking the trails and using the fire pit. Our kids range from 6 to 14, and they all had a blast. They are already begging to come back. Not only is the land beautiful, but the house is gorgeous too. It’s laid out very well. Our kids enjoyed the upstairs game room. I can’t say enough nice things about this home. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful land
This was the PERFECT location for my witchy bachelorette party! It was so cozy and an amazing space to celebrate with friends in an intimate setting. It was nice hanging out by the fire and catching up. The views are so serene and create a sense of time standing still. We will definitely be coming back for my friends weekends!

Peaceful location with so much to do right on the property
Our family, including teenagers, 15-18, stayed for five nights while in the area for the National Trap Shooting Tournament in Mason. We all loved the home. I agree with other reviews that a professional cleaner is needed for a deep cleaning, the cleaners they are using do not do a good job. However, I would stay here again. The house is beautiful and the property is amazing. We used the shooting range, even when it rained, as it is covered and there is plenty of room. The kids had a blast in the lake. There are paddle boards and a paddle boat and a canoe provided and the lake connects to other lakes, so we spent time exploring in the canoe. We really appreciate that dogs are allowed, just make sure to check for ticks. Peaceful and secluded but not too far from the grocery store. The only suggestion I have is for better cleaners and for there to be cleaning supplies available, for example a working vacuum and mop.

Hi Erin, Thank you for the review and I'm happy that overall you enjoyed the stay and you got to enjoy both the water and range. I completely understand your comments around the cleaning. We are adding the new addition to the house and that created dust from the construction and dirt from the builder coming in and out. That work should be done shortly and the home with be much tidier. Hope to have you back in the future.

Good weekend away
Prior to arriving, I didn’t get the email or text code for the door and reached out to mike who immediately answered and got us the code so we were able to get in. There were some minor cleanliness issues which again I reached out to mike about and he resolved and reached out to his cleaning crew about. The house itself is very nice with lots of room for sleeping. We really appreciated the many pillows and blankets extra as the weather ended up being quite cold for the time of year and we cuddled up with blankets throughout the day. Definitely would recommend staying there again

Great way for the whole family to celebrate our graduate!
We had a wonderful weekend celebrating our Albion graduate in a wonderful house. The great room with enormous ceiling was the perfect place for all of our family to get together. A much better alternative to having several hotel rooms. We were able to connect to the blue tooth speakers which was a very nice touch. The road into the house was a little rough because of rain earlier but we made it and when they say "ladybugs" they mean "ladybugs". Quite a few in the house but probably just this time of the year. We had a great stay! There was even a huge bag of ice in the freezer! Thank you.
